You can tell that when he was ever interviewed about how he plays his songs. He has to stop and think about it, because he plays mostly on 'auto' :) Amazing.

You don't hear names like Meryl Travis and Chet Atkins anymore unless your into that specific kind of music or plays guitar and loves the acoustic and never wanted to be a rockstar like the rest of the kids. Its like finding someone today listening to big band music, they're pretty unique if they are. The music was also overtaken by the rock craze and British invasion of the 60s. But back in the 40s and 50s Chet was "Mr. Guitar" with his style of picking

I'm a guitar player and Jerry Reed is absolutely one of my all time favorites. My guitar player buddies still talk about him a lot. Among my musician friends he is not seen as just good, he is considered to be one of the greatest to ever play a guitar.
