I think your comment of his eyes is the key point to Taemin's live performances. Fans often comment how idols have a duality in their personalities on and off the stage (which I think should be true for every performer), but I think Taemin is the only one who truly looks like a completely different person because of the intensity in his eyes. His face is set in such a way that he doesnt even look like himself anymore which I think is insane. Thanks for the reaction!
This so so true. The only other person who actually comes close to this in my opinion is taeyong. But the way taemim sets his face as you said, its phenomenal

Yes, he goes into the performance and feels the music and then the music feels him... in concert he is mesmerizing and mesmerized.

and they are both on a chinese idol audition show called "chuang 2021" right now

Like obviously, his dancers aren't just normal dancers either, they all really dance well no joking, especially when there is Santa and Riki, hope to see Riki dance with them too

Taemin has always been known for saving his energy for where it counts the most -- for live performances and for filming MVs -- dance practices for him are literally dance practices, so he is just allowing himself to feel the dance and get in the groove. He is less worried about being spot on exact, and more about showing everyone the feel of the choreography and the story behind the dance. As you noticed, when you watched the live performance it has a whole new vibe and you can see how much of an expert he is. Seeing as he is also singing live almost 100% of the time while performing for 3+ hours, you will notice moments where he conserves his energy, only to release it full out during the most intense parts of the dance or performance. He has became known as the best in the industry for a reason.
What is even more impressive about Taemin's dancing is the fact that he does it all while singing live and maintains stable vocals the whole time, without ever sounding out of breath or out of tune, etc.
So, as you discovered, what you are seeing in the dance practice may not be exactly what you see when you watch the MV or a live performance. Believe it or not, what you just saw in his "Famous" dance practice video, isn't even Taemin at full power. LOL To get the full experience and to really see why Taemin is considered one of the best dancers and performers in the world, you really have to see him perform live. :D Live is where all the members of SHINee really shine.

I have saying he is the best in the world since I first watched him in 2019. Sometimes I want to scream at the top of my lungs how great Taemin is. I have seen and always loved your comments. How long have you followed Taemin/ Shinee. I saw sound bits from this last Sunday’s 2021 Grammy’s and I dream Taemin or Shinee was in that stage. That’s where they belong!!! It’s so overdo 😣

@@milindawilson9175 WOW! I would love to pick your brains, lol. To be honest I don’t follow K-pop I accidentally so Shinee debut of replay and I was hooked. I immediately noticed TAEMIN. I was hooked. I don’t consider Shinee, Kpop. They are on a level of their own. I have been spoiled watching Shinee that when I look at other groups it just gets boring. Shinee’s level of talent and performance has always struck me so
superior. Other K-pop groups seem to turn out manufactured music just like they do here in the states and their performances are lacking. What a beautiful tribute to Kim Jonghyun. IU composed this song
having had hopes of a duet with Jonghyun for they were close freinds.
The lyrics of heartache, sorrow and loss so unexpectedly provoking memories
of lost love. Was UI's song a peculiar coincidence....in my mind it's peculiar.
A beautiful tribute to Kim Jonghyun that is only fitting Shinee performed. I read some
fans wondered was this for Jonghyun? The raw emotion in their touching performance
answers any doubt. Shinee would give anything to never have to sing "Dear Name."
This is their want to express feelings of such raw pain. Shinee's sincerity is boundless.
After more than 3 years I hope Shawols understand there isn't a "coming
to terms" or "closure" to such pain and loss. Shinee will forever go forward
expressing in their own way and in their own time coping skills that some day
Kim Jonghyun is the Shinee light in their hearts and they will smile thinking of him.
I understand Shawols grew up with Shinee and it is terribly sad.
If you care for these four men can we all try not to continue to spiral in heartache

Taemin is sooo INTENSE when on stage, yet on Instagram or behind the sciences he's nice, smiles a lot, laughs. Santa, is the dancer in the stripe shirt, who is an international Korean competitive dancer. He can act too. If Taemin ever has to slow down in dancing, he has a place in Kdrama as well. Props to the ladies and their dancing. So many Kpop women dancers like to move their hips a lot, but Taemin's dancers are just as sharp and intense as Tae is. Thanks for the analysis.

I was lucky enough to see super m in San Diego CA in 2020. When taemin came out and performed his solo to danger the crowd went bananas. He is truly a remarkable artist and I will go see him again no matter where, no matter how much it cost I am there. He is just that great! Thank you so much for this reaction.
I love Famous choreography and Taemin’s Japanese dancers are on another level. To watch them perform with him the whole concert was an amazing experience. It’s a given that Taemin would go much harder with his dancing on concerts, he is an unmatched performer, but just the fact that this Famous performance is in the encore section of his concert, so basically after 2 hours of dancing and singing gives you perfect idea of how an amazing and powerful performer he is. I mean his artistry and stamina is out of this world. Thanks so much for your detailed reaction!
With Taemin there are always so many details to analyze. He is a very atypical dancer and different from the ordinary. that is why he is so unique in everything. So far he is the only soloist that offers a lot of versatility and variety in terms of movements and ways of dancing or performing a dance. smoothness, swiftness, powerful, sharpness. He can do absolutely anything and his aura on stage is something else. I mean he is the performer of performers and a top dancer. I like your analysis, I look forward to more reactions of Taemin. Sayonara hitori, Black Rose, Flame of love ... Just me and you, ADVICE and his top notch performances on stage. There is a lot to see from him.
Wow this def one of my favorite choreos of Taemin.. these are top choreographers and they dont usually do backup dance for artists but they did so for Taemin

Watching the analysis I realized I've kind of underappreciated this choreo. I mean I've watched both the dance practice and performances and never really caught how truly intricate it is.
19:52 that part is actually directed by taemin. he suggested rikimaru (the choreographer) to add those jumps and turns to make it more explosive at the end chorus. Taemin is a genius in all aspects literally. 🥲

famous has always been my favourite taemin choreography. i always found every second of the dance practice fascinating lol. it feels the most like his style to me even though i wouldn't rank the song itself that highly amongst his titles... god it's nice to see it get recognition and to know what it is making it so good! :')

Have you watched him dance on a sterp 45 degrees? He did it on his last concert... He is amazing
Nice analysis! Would love to see you reacting more to the choreographer Rikimaru! (You can find his channel on UA-cam). This choreo is one of my favorites out of his works because it is so unique and fresh in its style which has his own signature (e.g. the snake-inspired hand movement) , but also clearly tailored for the artist, for example by incorporating popping which I understand is one of Taemin's strong suits.
Btw Rikimaru himself is also in a pop group & he is currently participating in a boy group survival show. Check out him & his teammate Santa (dancer in stripes in this vid!) - they got a lot of attention with their stages: ua-cam.com/video/wqlgH3_qgok/v-deo.html

Taemin is the POPPING MASTER of Kpop. If you don't believe me, just take a look at this short clip from his SuperM intro trailer: ua-cam.com/video/Qo18L3_Kc0Y/v-deo.html Another great example to see is how he changes up his choreos to fit his mood. Take a look at how he embellished his "Criminal" choreo for KBS Song Festival. It's phenomenal: ua-cam.com/video/5PaoHovQQdY/v-deo.html all while singing 95% live. Then there's his intro performance for MAMA 2020. Again, he changed up the choreo and even the key for the last lines of "IDEA": ua-cam.com/video/fEKVyfsYnuM/v-deo.html Another thing to know is that Taemin will always go much harder during live performances compared to the dance practice. Ramp it up by 85% more for lives. As his Japanese backup dancers have said in the past, "he's a monster on stage".
No one can pop like him. He started as a self-taught street dancer. He can also do tutting and, as you can see here, his isolations are CLEAN, and he can switch from popping/locking and isolations to moving like liquid silver in a millisecond. I've never seen anyone as fluid as him, or have the insane body control like him. He's very detail-oriented which makes his performances even more intense. He extends his dancing all the way through his body to his very fingertips. This is why he is my favorite dancer/soloist in Kpop and why SHINee is my favorite group. They are all insanely talented.
