  • Sorry about the spelling error at the end. It should be Cognitive dissonance, not Cognitive dissidence. for some reason my phone brings up dissidence instead of dissonance when I type it out and I didnt catch it. And since I read from a script dissidence is what I said. I looked at trying to edit it but looks like the only way to fix it is to edit the original, delete this video and up load the corrected verson. sorry, but this video has been up for too long for me to do that. So I guess we'll just have to live with it.
No other religious group is lied about like the Catholic Church.
And Anyone who's dealt with Protestants knows that they believe some pretty ridiculous things about Catholics as a result. This can be frustrating since Catholics end up defending the church against the same accusations over and over again.
In this video I will go over a few of the most ridiculous things Protestants believe about Catholics. And give a brief refutation. The purpose is not to give a complete apologetic of each subject. I have videos on my channel giving a more indepth defense on these topics. So those video for a complete analysis.
    So let's get into it.
Here are some of the most ridiculous things Protestants believe about Catholics.

It's a tough one. Prayer is the best.
But if you get a chance to talk about faith, her objections against Catholic faith should be clarified.
Theological arguments will go back and forth. It could be endless. I'll like to share some points in separate posts. It may be annoying due to lengthy write up.
      1. Why we recognise sacred tradition:
Because of oral tradition, we are convinced that what is written in the Bible is true and believable. Otherwise, by reading the Bible on our own it will be difficult to distinguish whether it is the work of fiction or the events actually took place. For us the Church testified generation after generation that the biblical accounts are true. So our faith is transmitted by tradition.
Also, before the New Testament books were written down, the Catholic Church was established. Hence, in principle, the Catholic Church is not depended upon the written books of the New Testament. the Catholic Church could exist with oral tradition of the Apostles just as the early Church had been initially.
Strictly speaking, except the book of Revelation, the other 26 books of the New Testament cannot be termed as scripture because none of the books claim itself to be scripture and the authors too did not claimed their books are scripture. But because the Catholic Church determined that there are no contradiction and these things were taught by the Apostles, these books were declared as inspired.
For a book to be treated as scripture, it should begin with "Thus says the Lord or the Holy Spirit says or God says, God revealed to me ...." But we don't find this in the 26 books. In the middle of the passages, the authors mentioned God's revelations but the book as a whole is not claimed to be inspired. We depended on sacred Catholic tradition for that.
The scripture referred to in the New Testament are that of the Old Testament scripture but protestants apply them as both the Old Testament books as well as the 27 books of the New Testament. They don't realise that no one had received the list of the 26 books as scripture. Besides, no author claimed his letters are scripture. They adopted Catholic Sacred human tradition while condemning the tradition.

      2. Objections against having statues and images.
Israelites had the ark of the Covenant Box. It had the image of the cherubims in gold. But this is not considered as breaking God's 10 commandments. Moses also made a bronze serpent and hung it on a pole but this was not breaking God's commandment.
Thus, we can have statues and images so long as we don't treat it as gods or the image of gods.
The cross is definitely an image because it is associated with Christ but no one considered it breaking God's commandment for having it.
Protestants using bread and wine as symbolic of Jesus' body and Jesus' blood is definitely making images. So, according to their own interpretation, they are breaking God's commandment which prohibited making of images.
If they attack having statues and images of Jesus, Mary and the saints then taking bread and wine as images of Jesus' body and blood is a big problem for them to reconcile.

I have faith that I will die as a Catholic but I would love to live as a Catholic family all together. I believe this is Gods will.
It is a lonely journey so far but I can bear it through Gods grace. It is easier to have interior peace even if externally things are seeming to be chaos than to have external peace but be tore up inside from going against my convictions..

Yes and Mary was the most blessed woman in history as she brought Jesus into the wold with the help of the Holy Spirit.

I would guess there are some that dismmiss Mary but what is most concerning is the false beliefs about Mary that are put forth by the one of the only churches that proclaims it is the true church!
Mary had no reason to be born without sin as Romans 3:23 refers to her as well.

Mary is not the mother of us all.

They have a Bible with missing books because Martin Luther decided by himself what should be in the Bible
Martin's bible no longer exists and has not existed for centuries. The missing books are not missing as they are available to read . So if you look to scripture in the old and new testaments you will not find any contradictions or historical inaccuracies. In the "not missing 7 books" you find historical inaccuracies and false doctrines.
      . Can they be saved.
God is the one who saves based on our being led to repentance by the Holy Spirit , we are given salvation freely by God as a gift. Eph 2:1-10 and you need to see that the gift is separate from works of any kind verse 9 even though there are works to be done verse 10.
That’s Gods prerogative. But to think you can just have faith with no works is a lie from the devil.
A lie from satan or a works based salvation which is denied by scripture?
James 2: not by faith alone? Sounds like works! Jesus answers that question that James asks in John 6:28 those are the works.
Does that mean we do nothing except have faith? No absolutely not as all through the new testament we have a constant theme of living our faith in what we do .

There is danger in reading the Bible nowadays. It is not necessary. I recall that my mother said that when she was young (1950s) there was something in the family Bible that said that it was to be read under the direction of a priest. This is tradition.
In fact it is likely that the focus on reading the Bible was and is a part of a plot to Protestantize those who identify as Catholics. Any orthodox Catholic ought to know that the two means of grace are prayer and the sacraments. Protestants act as if reading the Bible is the third. But it is not.

Ummm... no. Catholic theology is based on sacred Scripture as well as sacred tradition, and always has been. Our beliefs are grounded in the Bible.
In my own family we never prayed at home, either individually or as a family. My mother had the odd idea that we should only pray in church, as if the home wasn't a worthy place to pray. With one exception-- children's prayers before bed. But my father prayed bedtime prayers with us only once or twice, then never again after that. So I skipped those, too. As a result, I struggle today to make time for personal prayer, but I realize my mother was mistaken. Just because "your mother said so" doesn't necessarily make something true.

If the priest is validly ordained from the Apostolic line, then there should be no problem. The priest exercises the authority by virtue of holding the office of priesthood. He does not forgive on his capacity.
As an individual, the priest may have some shortcomings like theological errors or flaws in his character but unless he is excommunicated for refusing to recant heresy or being disciplined by the Church for serious misconduct, there should be no problem to go to him for confession. Of course those who are theologically sound can give much needed counsel.
Catholic Church is made up of sinners - be it the priests or layman. But as long as she is the legitimate Church, she is the bride of Christ. Of course all the Apostolic Churches are true Church so long as they hold on to the tradition of the Apostles and do not officially teach contrary to what the Apostles taught.

Ad 1 question. The problem with praying to saints and Mary is that catholics believe they are alive in Heaven, correct? Protestants on the other hand believe that people after death don't go straight to Heaven/hell, for Bible is clear that death is just a sleep and that the dead know nothing (e.g. Daniel 12:2; Ecclesiastes 9:5-10). There are of course the exceptions of Moses, Enoch and Elijah of whom the Bible gives us account that they are in Heaven - but as I said they are exceptions and Bible is really clear on the topic of what happens to us after death - which is... nothing. People will go to Heaven after they will be resurected when Christ returns, and not right after they die. (1 Thesallonians 4:16-17) If people go to Heaven after they die, what's the purpose of Christ coming back? And so if people after they die don't go to Heaven immediately you are then not praying to Mary, for she is sleeping (dead), but to demons. Bible is clear on the topic of talking to the dead: Deuteronomy 18:10-13.

    • @justthink8952
      @justthink8952 11 місяців тому +1

@@polaroid1479 yes. Catholics believe Mary and the saints are alive in heaven.
Paul wrote about those fallen asleep waiting for the day of judgement.
But Revelation chapter 20 tells about the first resurrection. It informs us of the possibility that Mary and the saints could be alive in heaven. Revelation chapter 5 tells us about the saints in heaven offering the prayers of the holy ones on earth. Revelation chapter 6 tells us about the martyrs praying to God to avenge their blood on the inhabitants of the earth.
Though necromancy is condemned, it is not the same as praying to the saints.

You do not find any reference in scripture of praying to / asking Mary the mother of Jesus to convey your prayers to God , so which of the early church fathers said this is the correct way to get answers?

You are confusing prayer with worship.

We could limit it to Christian churches, or simply that persecution and telling lies about what the Jews believed are two different things. So I don't see your point. The Jews have a good argument that they have been persecuted more than any religion, but I think we are talking about telling lies on what that religion believes.

      Jews aren't a religious group, they're a race.
