    I agree with you about feeling out the saw. Sometimes it takes me a while to be like “OK!” A good port job seems to get better the more you run it until it doesn’t haha

    I run a lot of the SP33 X-CUT chains on the .325 pitch saw I own. They have been great chains. A little price heavy but worth it. Out of all the saws I have, I think they're all running different brands of chain on them right now. I enjoy testing different styles and brands of chain.

    I actually use the Stihl RS chain on my old Jonsered semi-pro. It just eats through the wood. Especially with all the ironwood I’ve been cutting lately. Keep rocking out these awesome videos. Thank you so much.

    Yeah man exactly how you described on the Vespa is what happened with the 400c. Just totally unexpected. Sound changed enough my ground guy noticed it as I did running it. Really cool how it happened.

    I agree! I live all power saws but a lot I won’t say all but a lot of stihl owners think that stihl beats everything! Nice video! I do a lot of hard wood fire wood cutting I like the stihl chain best myself. I have a few loops of it square filed. Should try to square file some and see how it works.

    Great video! And good comparisons!
    The only thing I’ve noticed with some loggers Is that they will buy 100 foot spool of say EXL chain but they’ll put it on their Simington grinder and put their own custom square ground grind into it, Which is nothing like the out of the box grind you get
    I am by far no expert in square ground chain but I know that there’s too many variables in that grinding
    But as always i enjoy your videos!
    Take care

    The C-series oregon square ground chains are converted from round as you’d expect. During this process they don’t take the rakers down, so they’re probably 15 thousandths stock. Also they do a top beak on some cutters which don’t cut very well. Thanks for the video!

    • @novicelumberjack
      @novicelumberjack  2 роки тому +1

      That makes a lot of sense. So I'll look to cut down the rakers and re-test it.

    I can’t stand Stihl 3/8 but the only .325 chain worth buying is the Stihl RS..When it’s sharp it’s just friggin flat out fast chain. Excellent video and content.

    Great comparison👍🏻 with some surprising results😯 the only unmistakable, near instant increase in 2t power I've experienced was my CS-590! On about the 8th tank. Tinman caught it on video with the 268/272 giveaway saw and Buckin caught it with his 500i. I wouldn't doubt it one bit if stihl doesn't atleast limit timing for a certain amount of time, in m-tronic saws🤔

    I said the same thing out of that Oregon factory square grind. Pretty horrible. With what you can pick up from videos between Buckin and Inbred Jed on Jacob Rogers channel, you can file square ground better than the factory Oregon. That stuff really disappointed me

    All I can say is a good square grind Oregon, rakers down 10 thou is the fastest chain I've ever used and when I'm good and make a God chain its incredible ..RS is good thou. End of the day its other things like how you move your wood and your splitter ... how many cubes you can stack a day.

    I honestly think unless you’re an expert at hand filing, you will never really see a noticeable difference in speed between any of these chains. You will only feel the difference in the wood in terms of smoothness. Sometimes taking 0.002 off a raker or a tooth can make a chain smoothen out and bite less but it’s different in every type of wood.

    I have had that light switch moment with a echo 590 then ran out fuel after that moment filled back up after I took a 20 -30 min break from cutting and went start it and right away could till something wasn't right went trying pull on string to start it felt little looser pulling so took up to my echo dealer and explained what happened so they went through it called me and said piston went out went up there and ya piston was in pretty rough shape but not as bad as as though would be and they said what they could see what might happen was some fueling problem with it and they wouldn't warranty it because of the fueling or air leak causing it and also I didn't buy it from them saw was just 4 months old guy I got it from wife bought him for Christmas and I got from him a month later he said he used it like for 30 minutes has sell because lost job and had pay light bill before they got cut off I ran it for 2 -3 months ran great was starting up every time 2-3 pulls then just like light switch gain power and they went the piston and cylinder did adjust carb or nothing was running same fuel that was running saws I had for years before it so ya sometimes light switch moment nice then other times things break
