Hey my company has 12K new 18650s they need to get rid of. I thought of your channel when I heard about them and that you might have an audience that would use them. Let me know if you are interested. I haven't been able to find a good way to contact you.
Really useful, I’m building a house and want to be off grid and have over 20 of these batteries I could use - I’ll look at your others to find out more!
Damn your video production quality is just freaking ridiculous. You really nailed every aspect of this one to make it super engaging. I bet your "viewer time retention" or whatever UA-cam calls it is really high for this video. I'm sure its a pain in the ass doing these videos over several days while waiting for PCB's and doing all the testing but for the viewer its awesome seeing all the answers to our questions about capacity, power output, application possibilities, etc
Cool video. Regarding the PCB mechanical design, I suggest you to print on a paper your design and iterate from there, and when you have a solid iteration, make the PCB. Iterating mechanical design with already made PCBs is quite expensive and wasteful.
Super compact and super explosive if something goes wrong. Beside the fun of building the PCBs and fiddling with rare car battery banks, not sure how making your own DIY power wall out of lithium bombs makes any sense in this day and age when you can get LiFePO4 server rack batteries at a very low price per KWH. Yes, not super compact, but I will stick with super safe for my house.
@@jehugarcia Oh for sure, goes without saying. Just please help people understand risks when you talk lithium Ion batteries, which are super compact and make total sense in cars, but not in homes where you sleep and have small kids. And try JLCPCB, not as advanced with all the bells and whistles options, but for the kinda boards you make and vast majority of fabrication needs it's far cheaper than PCBWay.
Well, with the exception of those you mentioned, literally every other lithium battery in our lives are LiCo02. So just how dangerous are they? an order of magnitude less than riding inside a car for sure. lithium fires have taken 14 lives so far this year compared to 200+ in car accidents in NYC.
@@jehugarcia it's good that you have the statistics, I for sure would not want to one of 20 out of 200. Statistics are only fun when they happen to others, and there's so much nonsense promoted on YT that it's more like a jungle where lots of well intended folks an get seriously damaged or hurt. Depending which fake news you prefer, there seems to always be an EV chemical fire somewhere or in someone's garage, it's fun to watch on TV because if it's in your area you literally have a day to drive there and see the lithium ion fireworks in person, because nobody can put out that fire. But hey I get it, nothing is like livin on dha edge.
This looks like a fairly easy pack to put together, but I think the cost is way too high to be worth it. Once you add the PCB and BMS you are looking at $200/kwh. Since you can get factory built server rack batteries for ~$250/kwh I just don't think that modest savings is worth it. If the modules go on sale, could be really good though!
I dont know the quality of the server rack batteries but the cuality of this car modules are super hige or the best you can get, so maby the price is ok
@@Bpoweron Quality is hit and miss different brands different revisions have different quality batteries used. And in much the same way, the Price of these is only on this one website, if you hunt around, say your local scrapyard.. You might find a car you can yank them out of for super cheap. Most car scrapping///recycling yards dont warranty electronics (for obvious reasons) and because of that they charge less most of the time. A lot of sensors on engines are pricey, especially now days, If you go find a couple off your identical car, and yank a couple/three off, you are likely set for the life of the car, for a fraction of the price of one sensor new. @@crisnmaryfam7344 I have yet to find a scrapyard that sells high voltage batteries to the public, they also do not leave potentially lethal batteries in cars for you to "yank" out, good story though.

Great video and batteries look good for aome applications. Also, would it be possible that before you order the pcb's, can you do an image capture, print a sample to use as a template? Just a thought and thanks for the video. Wonder if something like this can be used for a bluetti ac200max..
Im sure it could be, as long as the supporting electronics can handle it. I dont know anything about that unit, but if the rest of the internals can handle 48 then you should be golden.
You might want to consider Hardie board or some other cement board for your backer. No matter how safe we try to make them, just about all battery technologies and electronics pose at least some risk of fire.
Owawooo 😯👏👏👏 One question 🙋 Your wall looks wooden is and how much kg all that batteries if on top of eachother ? If earthquake happens? Is that danger for wall mounted batteries ??? Thank you very much and best regards from Philippines 🇵🇭☕☕☕
When I'm designing boards, I tend to make them as good as I can then sleep on it and continue the next day with a fresh set of eyes and a clearer mind. I usually find more bugs that way before sending the file out. Also, the cell taps could benefit with additional current capacity. Not much but a bit more for when using active balancers for more accurate voltage balancing. One more thing, I always hear you say "PCB boards" its like saying "printed circuit board boards" haha no worries just wanted to point it out 😁
Each 13S 20A BMS comes with a 14pin cable. Why not just mount the BMS to a heat sink above the battery lid and run the cable leads to the battery cell terminals?
So I need to do my first ever battery and I’m going the DIY but I just saw your Jaguar cell video. Which would you recommend for a 48v “power wall” with a Growatt 12k inverter and what would be the difference?
well, these are practically sold out, (few modules left). the jaguar ones might work well with your inverter if you use 5 packs in series (15s) for working voltage range of 45v - 62v, If your inverter can be set to work with that voltage then Jaguar modules can be used. Otherwise just use LiFePo4 jag35.com/products/high-discharge-600a-lifepo4-1780w-prismatic-cells?_pos=9&_sid=d5fdaf68c&_ss=r
If you are only monitoring the batteries how are you going to balance them?? does that not require a little current sink? or is it really enough to "resist" their flow by bypass techniques...I must study up!!
I understand that you look at the heat generated and say that it will handle a certain amount of amps. How much battery degradation should be happening when used so hot with that many amps?
