- From Season 1 of Walt Disney's Disneyland Anthology program we have Episode 4: The Donald Duck Story which originally aired on November 17th, 1954. Walt Disney explains the creation of Donald Duck, using a scrapbook filled with highlights of Donald's career. Edited due to copyright are the following shorts: Orphans' Benefit (Walt Disney Treasures DVD: Mickey Mouse in Living Color, Vol. 2), Honey Harvester (Walt Disney Treasures DVD: The Chronological Donald, Vol. 3), Tea for Two Hundred (Walt Disney Treasures DVD: The Chronological Donald, Vol. 2), Donald's Dream Voice (Walt Disney Treasures DVD: The Chronological Donald, Vol. 3), and Three for Breakfast (Walt Disney Treasures DVD: The Chronological Donald, Vol. 3).
I love seeing Walt interact with his characters
So entertaining!!! Love it!
Unique and marvelous to see something like that:the character talking with their own creator...hard work yet wonderful to admire...like a sort of contact among the child and their own father
I wish there were some film footage of Walt talking to Mickey same as he did with Donald.

The footage of Donald as a cowboy was featured in a compilation film released overseas called "Donald Duck Goes West". It is used to segue into "Two-Gun Goofy", one of the featured cartoons.

Love how overly romantized the creation of Donald is portrayed here. In reality, and before becoming Disney's secondary cartoon star, Donald was created at first as just a secondary character in The Wise Little Hen (1934), an adaptation of the fable of The Little Red Hen. Said original story already had a duck character, so no ape, zebra, elephant, seal nor any other exotic animal was considered first as a character that would have Clarence Nash's iconic voice.

At 6:30 there’s Willie the Giant from “Mickey and the Beanstalk” and Pete is next to him, idk if the Moose was ever in a cartoon and I don’t know what that thing on Willie’s right even is
And during the lineup bit at 8:29 you got the Gorilla from “Donald and the Gorilla” (a clip of him plays at 6:38) the Wolf from “Peter and the Wolf” (not a Donald short but he does show up at 6:52) the Crocodile from “Don’s Fountain of Youth” I’m guessing it’s him since he shows up at 6:48), Lumpjaw from “Bongo” (again not a Donald short but it looks just like him) and Pete again. Idk about the Moose and the Lion, I’m sure they’re a reference to something but idk what
I'm not sure if it's that particular moose, but Mickey, Donald and Goofy did go moose-hunting once ("Moose Hunters" from 1937), which naturally didn't go over well. As for what's beside Willie, it looks like the Reluctant Dragon! And if you look carefully at the bottom of that picture beneath the moose, you'll see an alligator that clearly looks like one of the ones from the "Dance of the Hours" segment of "Fantasia".
Poor Donald got hunted by so many beast characters, all sound alike (Jim MacDonald)😅

Why Does Everyone Think Donald Duck Is Much Better Than Mickey Mouse? Mickey’s The One Who Started It All Back In The 1920s When He Made His First Debut In The Walt Disney Black And White Sound Cartoon “Steamboat Willie”, And It All Started With A Mouse.
