Snowy Ditch Dive in our LR3 - We test the Land Rover in the Snow - Better than the last Disco?

  • We take one of our LR3's (Discovery for you outside the USA) to the lost cause ranch and test it out in the snow. Just a little comparison to the Disco 2 we tried out last week.
The Disco snow test is in this video: • Land Rover Series IIA ...
We do a couple pathetic attempts at snowy hill climbs. Better in some places, worse in others. The Goodyear Duratrac's make quite the difference. Don't take this too serious, one of these days I'll get the chainsaw out so we can actually get up into the woods.

All this should have been no problem for an LR3 (Discovery 3) - terrain response set to snow, low mode, high height and the correct winter tyres with reduced pressure.

A few things I would have done different as an lr3 owner too. Tyre pressures lowered would help you massively. And switch to the command start in second. Use the terrain response and low range too. But we all learn doing this so all in you still gain from it 👌🏻

For that kind of deep snow over dirt (not compact snow & ice such as on a road) I'd have it in Mud 'n Ruts, 4-Lo, DSC Off....and of course suspension in off-road height.

@@LostCauseRanch Not trying to worry you, but you may want to check the load ratings on the wheels. A fully loaded LR3/LR4 can exceed 3 tons. When driving off road, you can put all of that load on only 3 sometimes 2 wheels. I went with Compomotive PD 1881 wheels for that reason.
