The effects loop alone makes this an incredible product. Gives any amp an effects loop after the power amp without the need to use a second power amp to drive the cab
I searched for this exact product a few years ago. It just seemed like such an obvious idea. I'm glad somebody finally brought it to market! P.S. That wet/dry idea is golden. :)
I played this yesterday and let me say by far the best attenuator I have ever played. I have worked in music stores for many years played all the major ones. This one feels like the amp with nothing on it, it is really transparent. The speaker technology he talks about is killer. The efx loop is a must for of us with amps w/o efx loops and the fact I can use it for wet dry is great
Because unlike other attenuators, this thing can then take the 5w signal and amplify it to 100w - assuming the internal speaker could handle that much. Agreed however that the camera mic demo (clipping and compressing) is incredibly substandard for a company of this stature. Home enthusiasts do better jobs.
To have your fx inserted after the pre and power stage i.e. before the speaker is optimal in so many cases.Especially reverbs, delays and mod fx. It is like adding the fx where you often would during mixing -after the recording. You can now take that to the stage! Even with little amps like Page used in the studio. It also is a better sounding fx loop than a few of my amps have, which should be no surprise, as the amp is left totally alone and the fx come right before the speaker.
I wonder how many of these they sold. It's seriously the best utility box for guitarists. Does so many things. I use the boost mode for an HT1R and/or a Fender Champ 25 into a 2x12 and they smoke. Those two amps are among my favorite little amps ever, and because of this thing I can get that tone in a band mix.
i have owned a bugera v5 for over a year. when i bought it i loved it and still do, but i knew i had seen a similar amp ... my bugera v5 look exactly like this bad cat .
Great product! But.....again a good overview of a product, with sound not so good. I can not believe that many pro-sound companies don't invest a tiny amount of money to get the sound levels correct. I just saw the same problem with a new amp from Jet City on their profile. These videos sell your products. UA-cam and these videos is your frontline to many potentially new customers. Don't leave them annoyed. Best regards from a BadCat owner :)
Does this mean you could run one valve 'tone' amp and return one side of an effects processor to the combo (in thi sinstance) and the other side to an extension cab? That would save a lugging a lot of gear around!
Ive been trying to get mine to switch channels with the same switch as my amp, Cougar 50, without success so far. I wish BC had a single switch solution for the second channel.
Wow we are late in answering this for you! Here's your answer: No, it depends on your speaker impedance. With a 8 ohm speaker you will get 1 - 100 watts. With a 4 ohm speaker you will get more than 100 watts and with a 16 ohm speaker you will get less than 100 watts.
If you're doing the wet/dry setup, does the Unleash still attenuate/boost the signal of your dry combo speaker/cabinet, or only the signal of the wet cabinet?
Can you use this without any speaker to record directly/silently from the direct out ? Is the Direct out affected by the volume settings of the unleash ?
This is perfect! One question, how will it behave with od/fuzz/distortion boxes in front?? As i understand, attenuators don't like any kind of boost pedals in front
I know this video is a little old... but, does anyone know if I can use the direct out to feed the input of another amp?...or maybe use the send output (but I think that would cut the signal to the Unleash speaker out).... Thanks!..Unleash V1....
You wrote "Well it's not exactly meant to be played with your Line 6 Spider." - Where you agreeing with me or insinuating I'd use such a PoC? LOL I tried playing an original Pod a few months back, unlistenable shit and the new versions are pretty much the same algorythm with 32bit processing. As they say; You can't polish a turd, but you can sure roll it in glitter.
BAD CAT, The send output port needs a volume level pot to be added because the signal needs to be at instrumental level (not at line level ) on the send output jack port. Some LINE OUT BOX units like the Shur Line Out Box uses audio transformers for the send and return. I'm not sure why they use audio transformers for the send and return ports. Instead of using a speaker and want to use an IR processor pedal or 2 note IR unit, isn't the built in reactive load as well as the built in Class D amplifier going to color the tone and not interface correctly with the IR processor units?
I actually tried one for about one hour and loooooved it. Was it my imagination? Should i send 700$ through the internets to find out? Eeek. I have weber now... but, still looking around for Bad Cat unleash videos... frustrating.
Also, have a mike on the demonstrator so when the guitar plays, they are not getting drowned out talking at the same time. One would have more confidence in a product if it's demoed properly... also...no offence. try having someone that is a player demo the guitar sounds...
The amp doesn't have channel switching, so you can use it for that. I guess it (Lease) allows you to overdrive the amp but still play at a fairly low volume.
how much is this? anyone know of any decent value attenuators. (by decent value i mean around the £100 mark). i've got a Rockerverb 50 Mark 1 Head into a 16 ohm 2x12 custom cab. too loud for home use and small gigs.
I never comment but this product has potential to be something useful - If only this video has offered information on the product. I think some of us are confused because the product not only can attenuate but can also INCREASE the volume (wattage) of a small amp up to 100 watts (depending on speaker resistance). Also, I think you get 2 foot-switchable levels of attenuation/wattage increase to switch between (nice if that is correct). Also, I think it has an effects loop between amp and speaker connections. I say I THINK because I COULDN'T HEAR OR SEE A THING on this video!!! Why would I even consider buying a product from a company that does not care enough about how it's customers, users, musicians perceive them. Heck it was so annoying all I can write about is how bad this video/product is. It was so fuck'n bad I think I am permanently damaged. I can't hear or see a thing anymore...stop moving the fck'n camera, please f'n focus and stay focused,...what is he saying, I fck'n can't fck'n hear a fck'n thing fck'n ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah, I might this thing!
Why on God's green Earth did you use a little combo amp to demo an attenuator?? Chances are pretty good you will never need one with an amp that tiny. Do a demo with a 100 watt half stack for God's sake. That is the kind of set up most players will use that need attenuating....
Came here to learn more about this device. Unfortunately, this video is a FAIL. Blurry video, bad low-output audio, and youre using a tiny combo amp which totally defeats the purpose (I would think a 100W+ head would be much better!) Please TRY AGAIN.
Hey Eric, we're sorry to hear about your negative experience with us and would like to know more about the situation. We'd like to make things right so please email support@badcatamps.com with the subject "UA-cam" and a member of our team will respond as soon as possible.
@@bad_cat_amps Can I use 8/16 ohm head with 16ohm cabinet with the unleash. I can switch the Marshall to 8ohms with your unleash 8ohms but my cab is 16ohms( Egnater Tweaker 16 ohm cabinet and Marshall dsl20 head (switchable 16 ohm/8ohm) is it safe and what kind of tone difference would I get? Can it work with any speaker cable?
The effects loop alone makes this an incredible product. Gives any amp an effects loop after the power amp without the need to use a second power amp to drive the cab
This is probably THE most ground breaking product in the last decade of guitar technology.
Well done!
It's one of em, discotechwreck. I love it.
I agree with you, man, but you should've audibled. How do you throw that pass?
This is the best thing I've seen in a while
That wet/dry setup is terrific. You may have sold me with that.
I searched for this exact product a few years ago. It just seemed like such an obvious idea. I'm glad somebody finally brought it to market!

The Unleash looks amazing. I need to get one.

Used it last weekend. It IS the real deal!

I will never be able to figure why a company that makes great sounding amps make such crap sounding demo videos.
They are a guitar amp company, not a social media company. Id love to see higher quality videos as well, but Im happy with high quality amps.
Sounds great with quality headphones!
Amazing.

I like how I could add an effects loop to my Musicman HD150 with out modifying it.
This is exactly what i have been looking for. To reverb i go!
Discontinued. Can't find on Reverb
Can't hear what the guy's saying after the first minute. Does he need a leash too?

I play a 100 watt Marshall and band mates always tell me to turn down. I got this and run Marshall wide open on ten but at decent volume

Guess it didn't sell very well? No listings on reverb and not listed anywhere I can find on the Bad Cat website...
This is perfect! One question, how will it behave with od/fuzz/distortion boxes in front?? As i understand, attenuators don't like any kind of boost pedals in front
What? They don't go in front of the attenuator they go in front of the amp. The attenuator sits after the amp before the speaker.
LANo Yes, i figured that out since three years ago :D
I know this video is a little old... but, does anyone know if I can use the direct out to feed the input of another amp?...or maybe use the send output (but I think that would cut the signal to the Unleash speaker out).... Thanks!..Unleash V1....
I loved that he hooked the Unleash up to an amp that costs less than the unleash ROFL

video of V2????
Sounds Awesome. Does the "1 to 100 W" attenuation/boost vary depending on your Speakers' Wattage?
Speakers don't have wattage. They have resistance which is measured in Ohms, and yes ohms affect how well the attenuator works. Cheers.

DO I ever need this for my '73 Superlead!
Wouldn't you pretty much always want the saturation light on?
Welding agregate ?))

It would be nice if you guys would make this with the option to have multiple ohmage - that is not just 8ohms but also 16ohms and 4 ohms.
It does handle 4, 8 and 16 ohm loads.
Also, have a mike on the demonstrator so when the guitar plays, they are not getting drowned out talking at the same time. One would have more confidence in a product if it's demoed properly... also...no offence. try having someone that is a player demo the guitar sounds...
I don't get it. It doesn't seem to do anything except add an effects loop.
The amp doesn't have channel switching, so you can use it for that. I guess it (Lease) allows you to overdrive the amp but still play at a fairly low volume.
It just seems like they always suck out the higher mids.

No sustsin!

@@vandal_dk no, there isn't a power amp inside of it. It does a 20% boost, so 120 watts with a 100 watt head. 6 watts with a 5 watt amp.

+Jay Reed I'm a little lost on this as well... what's the market for boosting the output of 5W amps?
How about live?
no... just clear.
Amazing amps horrible video
Too bad they burn up and then bad cat refuses to help you or support their product.
