    These amps along with matchless have the capability of filling a room from all angles. I used an HC 30 for years and loved it for that reason.

    I gotta Question. Maybe you answered it in an older Video. Guitar and singing are deep skills to learn. And I do Idiolize a John Mayer, Or a Mac DeMarco, Jack Johnson.
    What gave them the power to become their own stars and authorities... And why are there so many talentented musicians, wishing, and trying and maybe not having that kind of success they wished they had (making abl living from music)... I am sure it's not just one skill, but a whole set of skills, from music, skill and personality traints.

    Ah,
    I needed a mentor going electric.
    Your contribution here, would have put me on track, back then.
    I wonder about the presence control's design here.
    It may be adjacent to the negative feed back loup, if there is one.
    Also it looks like this amp has a solid state rectifier. That is good for head room. But some touch sensitivity is lost, as opposed to a tub doing the job.
    Eric Clapton and Fender came up with a few amps. One is a 20 watt unit with a small 5Y3 rectifier tube.
    This is a small tube for the job.
    What happens, is there is natural compression on attack.
    The 5Y3 tube simply can't keep up.
    As the guitar signal decays and the amp recovers, every thing cleans up.
    Through all this volume remains even, up untill guitar signal falls below the over driven threshold.
    This phenomena produces a 'singing sustain' , than can predictably ridden and controlled by finger pressure.
    Thanks, I will pass this video on. Chris

    • @christophergallagher531
      @christophergallagher531 Рік тому

      Looks like a big GZ34 in there.
      You will have to crank the amp to get that to 'fold over'!

    • @christophergallagher531
      @christophergallagher531 Рік тому +1

      I am thinking, the presence is like a Fender bright switch, which makes more of a difference, at low volume.
      The amp sounds great in your hands!
      Glad for you. I hope the honey moon lasts for ever!

      @@christophergallagher531 No GZ-34; 3 x 12AX7, a pair of EL-34s, Cathode Bias Class AB and a solid state rectifier. No negative feedback.

      @@badcatmatthew Thanks.
      I found a few Cubs, including one with
      four El 84s, and one with what looks like a switch able first gain tube.
      I use pretty stock BFed silver face Fenders.
      All have NFL switchable by passes.
      I have no computer and this phone would not open pfds.
      There was a Mat Smith down in Albany NY years ago. I remember him playing 'Cat Squirll'. The guy kicked *ss.. He offered to let me try an amp, as I did not have one. I had a Gibson L6S.
      Be well Chris

    Question, is someone going to spend 3K on a combo amp and only play cowboy chords? I know you are a good guitar player, as I have seen you before. Maybe you should compose a faux Zeppelin song and demo with that. And play some high lead work because all amps sound good playing cowboy chords at lower volumes. I'm sorry I ranted!
