    Thatch roofing in the Philippines is made of a palm tree leaf called Nipa that grows in swamps. We do not use any resin waterproofing. It is naturally waterproof if constructed right and thick/

    Someone said bamboo would have to replaced often. I've heard its stronger than wood. I think if its kept relatively free of moisture it ought to last as long as wood. Another video says to soak it in boric acid for 3 mo. Of course, here we are dealing with a tropical climate which would be constantly moist and damp with numerous fungus's etc. If painted with oil paint or some other products I think it should last a long time.

    labor laws are lax there because not everyone is sue happy like they are here in the states. People complain about losing their freedoms but then turn right around and do things that take them away from us. Blessings to you and yours! Thank you again for sharing this info with us. You are very detailed and truly sharing - not like so many people that hold back the important info. Can you tell me please how long the bamboo lasts? Thank you.

    I live in Arkansas, and our bamboo grows like crazy in the yard. I want to build a shed with it. I agree with others. Why don't we grow more bamboo for housing? It grows like weeds. I have to kill some of the buds that come up during the spring and fall or it becomes invasive. They grow quickly too.

    • @JohnnyFD
      @JohnnyFD  5 років тому +1

      It's crazy how fast it grows and it's such a good material. We should all be building with it. I agree.
