I am so grateful I found you. Your story made me feel that I am not alone in this. I had abdominal hysterectomy about 4 weeks ago because I had adenomyosis that caused uncontrollable bleedings during my last PMS. I almost died at ER because I lost 50% of my blood within 2 hours. Eventually my doctor had to perform hysterectomy to save my life. I am 49, felt deeply sad and wondered if I could get back to my regular self again. I am an active person, but it has been such a slow recovery for me. I am so encouraged to hear your journey and it gives me hope that I wont be in this place permanently. I will be starting to try your Pelvic floor exercise and other videos that helps with hysterectomy recovery. But most of all, thank you for sharing your invaluable story.

Adenomyosis - been there - my hysterectomy was 14 weeks ago (I had mine 10 days after my blood transfusion). 4 weeks feels like very early days - take care. :)

I cant thank you enough. I've known for 3 years I need to go for a hysterectomy and this was heartbreaking since we have no children and been through 2 unsuccessful fertility treatmeants. I have growths in my womb that makes periods so painful. During lockdown we were decluttering and it suddenly struck me that I should do that for my body as well. I am 42 and will not have children. I am seeing my therapist again next week and for the first time in 3 years I feel at peace with such a decision. Your video is such a great comfort to know my mourning feelings were normal. Thanks so much.

Having children is truly a blessing and out of world experience...i am a single mom and it has been so hard raising them alone (no family or help in uk, my ex just had an affair when i was pregnant with 2nd child and he just left and never been part of my children life) anyway i am saying that you can adapt and u will feel same love trust me. Lots of children needs a home n parents. I m also struggling with uterus health issues n wil have to sort it too....

finding this comment 3 years after you made it. I am 34, unmarried and I need a hysterectomy. I haven't had children either. im realizing and coming to terms with that never happening for me the way i thought it would. tough choice but my body has been in pain for too many years! I have to do it for myself. How are you now, did you have the surgery?

I found this because I'm almost a year out from childbirth and just beginning to get help for my issues. It's really frustrating that doctors are so reticent to proactively fix this--that it took so long for you to get the right referrals and be treated seriously. I'm so glad you found the right solution, and this gives me hope that I'll find mine! Solidarity from one woman navigating the US healthcare system to all the others in these comments...

My hysterectomy and prolapse repair is tomorrow. I’m 39. I don’t even remember what my body in that regard felt like before my second son was born 6.5 years ago. Maybe even before my first. This has been a long time coming. These types of videos help me so much because very few have even known about the issues I’ve been living with because they have made me feel broken and caused me to retreat into myself and my home much of the time, and it is refreshing to hear from women my age who have come out the other side with no regrets. So grateful for my two babies and my two pregnancies and birth experiences. But it is time to begin a new chapter. Thank goodness for a recovery in the doldrums of winter! I’m one who only sits down to get into bed, so I am “nesting” like mad for the rest of the day, knowing I will sleep/rest tomorrow on. It will still be aggravatingly difficult to continually let go of “to dos” but I am sure my physical limitations will ease most of the inevitable temptations to do much of anything! Thank you so much for sharing your story!
(Btw I was also an ACL/PCL patient while in college! Due to a trampoline accident where my 9 yo cousin “unknowingly” kicked the side of my knee in mid air, popping it out, and then me landing on my feet! It’s ONE person on the tramp at a time! 🤪)

Jessica Valant Pilates I will check it out! I am 2 days po and feeling pretty good! All vaginal so I don’t have any outside incisions 🙌 However today I’ve experienced two times where I get a nursing “let down” sensation. I remember it well while exclusively pumping for my two babies, but I also experienced it this past summer after I contracted poison ivy under one breast and in my armpit (don’t ask - I have no idea but it had to have happened while picking blueberries!). It’s that sudden but fleeting extreme thirst and feeling depressed, leading up to some breast tingling, then it goes away. I was able to keep both ovaries so I don’t have to take hormone replacement.....or do I? I’ve heard that it’s possible for the ovaries to shut down in 2-5 years after a hysterectomy. But maybe the letdown sensation is a positive feeling? As if a sign that my ovaries are still in working order? Is it common to feel letdowns after a procedure like this? I was taken by surprise, but hoping it’s normal and that it hopefully eventually goes away.

I had the sacropoplexy and hysterectomy last summer. I'm already past menopause, so it was an easy decision. Best thing I've ever done. Feel so much better. And the surgery was easy. I never even had to take a pain pill. Back to my regular schedule within 3 weeks! I will say, I did your videos before the surgery to get my stomach muscles in the best shape possible before the surgery. While in the hospital the nurse commented that she couldn't believe how well I moved in and out of the bed and my stomach muscles must be really strong!

Hi Jessica, met you on UA-cam at lockdown last year. I exercise with you here in Brazil. Thank you. You are again helping me with info, on prolapse, hysterectomy and rectocele. I've had all three surgeries too. Now my 40-year-old daughter, because of endometriosis, lost her uterus, ovaries, part of her intestines and one kidney. I will forward your videos to her, including the exercises, she does not have a healthy life, even with all the loss, she remains neglectful of her health. Hi
I had endometriosis when I was young and in my 20s. I am now close to 60 and have prolapse, and my bladder has dropped. I could never figure out why i was getting urinary track infections all the time, and now it all makes sense. I was in the shower one night, and I was washing and got totally freaked out by what was happening to me. I have been waiting to see a gynecologist since September and won't get in until April. By the sounds of things, I might even see a urogynecologist. I go to work daily and on my feet 8 hours a day at work, along with heavy lifting, not to mention when I get home I have to cook and clean. I have sold my house and now packing as well. I am in pain daily, some days worse than others. Thank you for sharing your experience about prolapse. Feel better soon.

Thank you for this video. You are very accurate when you said OBs don't recommend or “know” what to suggest. I'm not sure which type of prolapse I have, but I can feel and see an organ peeking out, anywhere from an inch to a few inches when squatting.
I had relatively easy vaginal births that were super quick, but my vagina did not heal because stitches came out after my first birth. My confidence is gone at this point, and it's so embarrassing. I'm on my third child, and I've been dealing with this since I was pregnant with my second baby back in 2018.
The advice I received from my OB was to do “kegels, because surgery doesn't exist.” So, thank you very much for sharing your experience.

I'm post-meno and just had my pre-op appointments yesterday. My surgery will be very much like yours, and I learned yesterday that my recovery period was longer than I thought it would be, and needs to be very "focused". You helped me understand what that looks like and the level of commitment it will take. Thanks so much for sharing your experience. My daughter is a yogi and will be staying with me during the first 2 weeks of recovery and I'm going to have her watch this, too. (She's also almost 40, had endo, and is trying to get pregnant.) I don’t know how I came across this video, but I had prolapse repair 6 days ago and this was just what I needed to hear. I had repair of rectocele, removal of cervix(had been left when I had my hysterectomy 22 years ago), right oopherectomy (left was removed 9 years ago) and had my vaginal vault fixed to my sacral ligament. I have a slight cystocele but that was improved when the surgeon fixed my vagina in place. I am post menopausal so didn’t need to keep my remaining ovary. It apparently had a cyst on it anyway so glad to get rid. I have struggled with constipation- that now is resolved thankfully but it was reassuring to hear you say that it’s normal. Thank you so much for this video. It reinforces the advice I’ve been given xx

20:06 It is helpful to hear that this is a slow process. I’m almost 67 and just 2 weeks post op from all those procedures, plus building 4 new walls to support bladder and colon. Surgery was 10 hours and bladder spasms have been awful (one extra week with catheter). I was doing modified basic yoga prior to surgery, and have been feeling like it’s never gonna happen again postoperatively. You have given me some hope today. I watched and saved your video of gentle breathing/stretch post op and may try to begin this around 3 week postop. For now, just deep inhale positivity, exhale relaxation, and walk as tolerated. I will be following your videos.

This is helpful. Years ago I had benign tumors on my cervix and vagina walls, probably to this day. I was told by doctors they would not allow me to have the surgery, in case I wanted to have more children. A subject that doctors don't talk about. I happened to get pregnant 2yrs later. I have had endometriosis, since 25yrs. I'm also prolapse. I've decided, at 40yrs that doctors will allow me to have the surgery, finally. I hope to have the surgery soon. I have no regrets and been abstaining for 3yrs now. No need or want for more children or a male partner. I'm going into this with a clear head. (I use my preferred name on UA-cam.)

You did such a great job providing realistic expectations and things to consider when making the decision of whether or not to have a hysterectomy. I suffered from stage 4 Endometriosis and the only option for me was a hysterectomy. At the time I was about 38 years old with no children but always dreamed of having them. So to learn that I would lose my ability to have them was devastating. I love that you addressed the emotional pain that may need to be addressed as a result of the surgery. Because it's such a common surgery, people don't consider the mental, emotional and physical impact that it can bring. It's a big decision to make! So glad to hear that you are coming along well. Stay encouraged and stay the course of taking it slow and rebuild. Your body will thank you in the end. I'm doing great on the other side. I too kept one ovary and still have a new normal to balance but it is by far much better than the pain I was dealing with having endometriosis. Blessings to you during your recovery and thanks for being willing to share your story. I know it will greatly help many women.💖

Wow.. Listening to your story I can totally relate.. I am 43 had my some 2 years ago and similar to you noticed the prolapse within two weeks.. Turns out I also had all three prolapse plus an avulsion of the pelvic floor muscle on one side! I had hysterectomy (leaving the overies) and an anterior repair.. As the rectocyle was lower grade they left it.. However 1 year on and a lot of physio.. This last month I have felt bit more comfortable.. I still feel very restricted with movements especially playing with the kids.. I cycle to keep fit.. Was a full time athlete prior to children so this has been a great battle.. I am seeing another surgeon to possibly have a sacrosuspention operation to help keep things more in place.. Listening to your story has helped me think more about the decision.. Like you say its wanting to enjoy the time with your children while they are young and not just watch from the side lines.. 😔
I am just feeling strong enough pelvic floor wise (they were so weak!) to feel comfortable to do some core work and am so happy to come across you video and pilates videos.. Good luck with the rest of your recovery and enjoy being able to enjoy children 🤗 X

Restriction of movement is often caused by adhesions post surgically
Castor oil packs, if applied with moist heat regularly will slowly resolve the adhesions
Edgar Cayce aka “the sleeping prophet “ in the early 20th Century was the original teacher of this technique
2 American Presidents consulted with him and he was highly regarded
You might read Cayce’s thoughts on his experience and understanding of how Castor oil works
Videos on the correct technique will prove helpful
Castor oil is known in Spain as “the hands of Christ”
It is the only oil that is a truly powerful medicine Yet it is harmless
      Only apply externally
      Do not take internally
It will take up to 6 months of castor oil packs to resolve adhesions as a result of complex pelvic surgery
Be consistent and full movement will slowly return

Thank you for sharing. ❤ this topic is co common but so not common to hear about or to find the right information, that every peace of real life experience is a treasure... sometimes it is just so important to know that there are people who are going or went trough the same things. I had no idea about prolapse till having my son. I always was active (not professional sports, just tried different exercises and workouts). Now it feels like I am so limited in what I can do. It is a change of lifestyle but also it feels like I am not myself anymore.
I just want to say thank you again for sharing. ❤

Thank you so much for your testimony. It is encouraging to me. My first gynecologist blew me off basically when my pelvic ultrasound came back normal. I have been in perimenopause since a few years ago and this January alot of things happened at once. Female hormones really have changed affecting my mostly stable hyporthyroidism and anxiety/depression. Its been a journey. Finally a reason for overactive bladder that began and everyday pain and discomfort. The new gynecologist is a urogynocologist and totally understood the effects menopause may have on other body parts and did not discount my bladder discomfort. He was able to tell me by two simple exams that I have some uterine prolapse and it could be dragging the bladder with it. He said he wouldn't suggest surgery just yet but not to say in 3 months he new wouldn't. He said you can have symptoms without seeing the uterus in the vagina. He said that low estrogen can cause overactive bladder since it is in the lining of tissues. He referred me to PT and I look forward to starting that soon. He also suggested taking the medicine the urologist gave me for my bladder discomfoet/spasms because therapy will strengthen pelvic floor but it won't change my hormone levels..So it will help but it won't fix everything. I am thankful for a doctor who finally listened and understands what I am telling him. Thank you for showing us how to do safe exercises so that we don't make our prolapses worse but be able to strengthen our muscles. I am 46 yrs old. Have had 4 children and I too would like to run again but I don't know that it will be a possibilty for me. It is something I am having to mourn. Thank you for being so positive! I really needed to hear your story. It gives me hope.

This was very informational. I am scared for the process of it all. This video really helped me be aware of the process to mentally prepare. I have stage 3 almost 4 of uterine prolapse, stage 2 of bladder prolapse, and stage 1 of rectal prolapse.
I am so scared for the surgery and recovery and what that will look like (sounds like they are probably gonna do emergency surgery). But I know this is necessary and will improve my life so much. I am going to the bathroom every 30 minutes and have been told for years that I just need to "hold it" or "it's in your head" even though it was so painful.
I finally went to the ob/gyn a few days ago and even when I walked in they didn't believe me when I said I had a uterine prolapse. I had to show pictures because they wouldn't do a exam at first. I'm finally glad they found out what was wrong and if I am recommended exercise I will be sure to use yours. Thank you so much.

You can also go into menopause if you keep your ovaries because when the arteries & ligaments are cut it does cut blood supply off to ovaries. Sometimes ovaries dry/die due to this. Many women experience menopausal symptoms even when keeping ovaries.

Thank you so much for this video. This kind of positive science based info isn't always as easy as it should be to find and you made it so much easier. I found it for my mum who's 63 and has a uterine carcinoma. Unfortunately she therefore doesn't have the luxury of time, it, ovaries and cervix have got to all come out asap, due to the cancer. Hormone treatment isn't an option and she's understandably shocked and upset. She also has a bladder prolapse. Your videos helped us both be more positive and answered a few questions her doctors have not answered satisfactorily even with a second opinion. We'll be sure to be checking out the exercises when she's ready.

Really appreciate you posting this video! I have prolapses (I think possibly all 3, but waiting for a more through exam once I am 9 weeks postpartum). My first baby was a emergency forceps delivery, which did the initial damage, but I didn’t really notice the prolapse until I started exercising at 4 months postpartum. After I noticed it (it was probably stage 2 at that point) I took steps to prevent from worsening, and did kegals regularly. I had my second bub with no worsening of the prolapse, and postpartum recovery was good. However, I am now 12 days postpartum with my third baby, who was 4.3kg (over 9 pounds) and I am quite nervous about the damage having a big baby has done (she was a full 1.2kg heavier than my second bub, who was in the 6 pound range). I noticed her putting pressure on my prolapse from about 35 weeks onwards, as she was very low and engaged (she arrived 2 days shy of 40 weeks). I actually had to almost go on bed rest for the last few weeks as the pressure was making my prolapse stage 4 some days. Since I delivered her, my prolapse has def been average - first few days it was the worst it’s been, fully stage 4 and out of vagina! After a week and half of bed rest, it is a lot better, but will be stage 3 by end of day if I am on feet too much. I’ve been doing kegals twice a day to assist with supporting it.
It’s quite depressing, as I have a 4 year old and 6 year old as well, so hate feeling so immobile right now (especially not knowing how long I need to be like this before I see any possible further improvement). I’ve still got 6 weeks till I see the physio, who will exam me a bit more closely - this feels like forever away. Then I am seeing a urologist/gyno at 9 weeks postpartum to really evaluate things, and see what can be done to fix things up (I am 36 and very much done having babies).
Anyway, I really appreciate you posting videos like this, as having a prolapse can feel so isolating, scary and depressing.. and this helps to not feel so alone!

I won't take time for my whole story but I was scheduled to have my uterus and cervix removed (because of prolapse) as well as rectocele and cyctocele repair. Once the uterus was removed and rectocele repaired the bladder corrected and cyctocele repair was not needed! My husband and I are blessed with 5 children. I am feeling better each day and haven't been taking pain meds but I am struggling with insomnia. This is the first surgery I ever had so recovery is all new. Do you have any advice for improving sleep? Also can you give me a picture of how recovery looks during the first week... struggling to know what is best...how much to sit, lie down, nap? ❤️❤️Oh my gosh I’m so glad I came across your channel. You have no idea how much I needed this. Thank you for sharing your journey, I’m having the exact surgery you went trough on April 6th, 36 more days, and I’m so scared to be honest. Oh my gosh you’re literally telling my story but I didn’t have endometriosis but I do have pelvic floor prolapse, uterine prolapse, a cyctocele and a rectocele. I tried the Gallhorn pessary which is awful and no relief, than saw a pelvic floor physiotherapist and she suggested due to the advanced stage surgery will be the best. Than went to a Urogynecologist and she’s recommended a hysterectomy removing the uterus while saving the ovaries. So being 41 I’m glad to keep my ovaries due to not wanting to go through early menopause 🙏my biggest fear is recovery and being into fitness so much for so long I fear mentally not being able to be as active as I have been for many years will be such a struggle for me. I’m getting a simple hysterectomy and asked about vaginal prolapse and my doctors told me that there are several other ligaments that hold the vagina in place besides the uterus and that most people who suffer from prolapse have had children, still have their uteruses and are older- as in senior citizens.

    • @JessicaValantPilates
      @JessicaValantPilates  4 роки тому +2

While there are other ligaments, research shows that women with a hysterectomy are more prone to prolapse later in life. That's not a reason not to get one necessarily! Just something to keep in mind and do the right exercises to help prevent.
