Pete is a great spokesman for DVC both resale and direct. My wife and I purchased in large part due to interest and information we learned from him on the value of the product. People keep going on about how Disney is only for the rich now but DVC makes those delux resorts and villas available for our middle class family. But I appreciate not feeling delusional about how great the product is. I appreciate knowing the limits and problems I would have buying it.
Just got off the Wonder: Magnet appeared later in the day on Embarkment day! Lanyards on my fish extenders. Stopped by the desk and got a bag, and if you stopped by every day, there was a little gift. I miss the welcome cocktail party, but that’s COVID…. Really felt special!
@Pete, we used to get all kinds of DVC pixie dust the first couple years as a member from 2008 to 2010. Then nothing. We don’t expect it, just figured DVC ran out of pixie magic. It was great to hear at least it’s alive and well on the cruise ships, even if it’s just for a few.
My direct rep was Gib McCain as well - we are looking at our first DCL next summer. Hope we get the royal DVC treatment too! Another great show, thanks!
Tori called me about a week before the DIS Pod cruise! I stopped by their table (across from Guest Services) every day. We had a great time on that cruise.
Can you explain how to use my points better for future cruises? I always thought this was the best way to take the cruise is by using my points. I sure would like a good understanding on how to maximize my points. Is the past Vlog explaining it or can there be one in the future? Thank you
Don’t ever do it. The number of points you have to use is outrageous. Your better off renting points or selling your points and paying cash for the cruise.
Thinking about buying Disney resale, but one of my deciding factors is can use it for a cruise or not? Some online sources say that you can, and others don't. I know that at the end you talked about renting your points, still definitely learning can I rent out resale points? We would like to do something Disney related every year as a family, but not necessarily Disney world each year. Also there may be some years we decide not to go because life happens.
We bought resale from Jerry sydow in 2004 for like $75/point at Saratoga. First trip we did an Alaskan cruise. Disney didn't go there yet and as such using points was super affordable.
I am DVC too and my DCL Profile shows that I am a DVC member. Although when we always arrive to our stateroom no DVC magnet is never on our door. My wife gets upset but I can care less for this junk.
When we did our first (and only) ABD trip, they gave us a bunch of stuff like pins, lanyards, luggage tags, bags. I wish they had just given me a refund for the cost of all that stuff, cause it all ended up at Goodwill!
The one time we cruised in Concierge on the Dream, we realized the doors are not magnetic so maybe that's why Pete didn't get the magnets? (Guess I should have finished listening before posting ;-) Other than that, we had to stop by the desk each day for goodies.
On the UK staycation cruise last summer I did not receive any DVC gifts. I don’t know if they even had any reps onboard? My son wanted to spend the whole time in the pools so I don’t think we stopped by the DVC desk. Hopefully on my next one I’ll get a pin or magnet!
We have done 2 cruises and did not get any dvc calls or stuff. We used to get a call when in the parks, that has not happened in a very long time. We don't feel like we belong.
Hi I’d really like to know why the pay it forward / referral programme is exempt if your from the Uk . We had friends that brought dvc direct through us taking them In their first trip etc . They brought a big contract at Copper creek when it was new and we were told sorry being from The Uk you can’t get the perks ! I have to say it does make me a bit cross ! As a family we love Disney are DVC members ( brought resale before the changes ) love Disney Cruising etc and have been holidaying at Disney for years yet our loyalty and the fact we live in the Uk we aren’t able to access those perks . No one has ever been able to give us any solid reason as to why 🤷♀️ Anyway great show as always but I’m with you Pete we have had a come to our desk and you have a gift waiting for you but not a daily dvc treat lol!
I wonder if you get the DVC swag stuff if you book your cruise through DVC? I'm thinking if you do not use direct points - say you pay directly or use DVC Resale Swap it does not register you as a DVC member, for DVC you appear to be like another DCL guest? Just a theory?!?
Not sure if this answers your questions. We have done several Disney cruises, we used to use points & received all the gifts. Our cruise in Dec. we rented our points and paid cash prices, still received all the gifts. We did not use swap, we paid with Chase Disney Visa to have 6 mos no interest. Rented points to pay off CC. We are direct DVC owners.

Carol Ann called us prior to our sailing on Dream in May. Stopped at DVC station daily just to chat with them. Super nice and gifts daily.

With current WDW restrictions, I will only used my DVC membership as rental points to pay for DCL.
I have never heard from a guide since we first bought in2001. Lets see how it goes with our cruise on the Fantasy in September.

We never get a call before our cruises. Been DVC members since 2004.

Does the cruise need to be booked with DVC points to get these perks or is it just a member perk regardless of how the cruise is paid for?
