Thanks for posting this I have this Same idea with PVC pipes it looks like they can go into garbage disposal. Is there a gasket seal for this hard to see on the video
Looking down my main drain line i can see the tail of the disposal outlet. It reduces the pipe diameter in half. I assume this is wrong and causing problems, but can't find anything about it. Do you know how i would find a building code about it?
Hi I am installing a new kitchen sink in my studio (there was none previously). I need to connect the kitchen sink drainage to the bathroom sink drainage eventually. The center of bathroom sink drainage pipe is 52cms from the floor. To be able to connect to that, what is the minimum height of drainage hole required for the kitchen sink ? At the moment, the cabinet height is 90 cms (including benchtop), the sink bowl depth is around 22cms. Do you think we can connect the kitchen drainage pipe to the bathroom drainage?
I have exactly same setup with dishwasher hooked to garbage disposal. I smell foul smell coming up from drains. Is there an alternative plumbing method? No clogs by the way
They do exist. The drain kits with the straight end are readily available. Here's one from Lowe's: www.lowes.com/pd/Keeney-1-1-2-in-Plastic-End-Outlet-Disposal-Kit/3439310
I have PVC from the sink and through the trap to the wall. Then there is a cast iron pipe that tees from that up to looks like nothing and then down through the floor into the basement where it goes back into PVC.... Is there a reason they would have that extra foot or so about the tee that doesn't go anywhere?
That section above the T would normally run up through the roof to let air into the system, per code. If it doesn't go anywhere, that sink probably isn't draining well.
@@Teach2Build it's capped... And it's an exterior wall and it works okay... I've had to clean the line out twice, bought the house a little over a year ago. I tried to snake the drain but it hits the tee and doesn't go anywhere. But yesterday the metal fitting started leaking and I would like to just do an elbow instead of a tee just in case I need to clean it out. I just didn't know if I would be messing something up if I did that. Most of my venting goes up through the middle of the house, but where that tee is above that is a window so there really isn't a place it could have gone.
That sink should be vented somehow. You can replace that t with an el, but you might consider adding a AAV under the sink. Google that to learn more about them. They're required by codes when you can't run a vent the normal way.
Sorry to hear that, but if it looks just like this one, and the dishwasher ties into the disposal, it can't blow up into the other sink. The T that the disposal output goes into has a small fixed flap inside it that directs waste water downward. Best of luck with your projects.
We have to work with our kitchen sink, but there is a divider and it makes it hard to get to the pipes. Does anyone know if the dividers can be cut and taken out? Any ideas?
You can often remove that piece, but it will leave a gap between the doors, and sometimes it serves a structural purpose, helping to hold up the sink. I'm a big guy, and dislike those center pieces, but I have to find a way to work around them. Best of luck with your project!
Reliable? That looks like the crap home depot sells. I installed it under my kitchen sing and I can't wait to replace it. It's paper thin junk the the T fitting for the drain causes all kinds of problems because it has a small diverter in the pipe, which reduces the flow of water and causes backups when using the Garbage disposal.
This type of thin wall pipe has been used virtually exclusively under every residential kitchen and bathroom sink for over 50 years. Best of luck with your challenges.
It would be overkill. You only need one. "Why is he driving one car when he could glue two cars together and drive them" that's you, that's what you sound like.
I am pretty sure. The pvc coupling tee is wrong. When the garbage disposal turns on that backed up the waste water to the next sink. It should use a Y coupling to avoid returning the water.
Thank you! I saved time and money by how easy my leak was to solve. Screwing the nut back in place was so simple.
Very pleasant to listen to. Wish there were more voices like yours out there!
Thanks for the kind words. Best of luck with your projects!
How can I stop the one from over flowing
Easy listening soothing sounds of plumbing. Well done.
Great video - super helpful; thanks.
This helps. Thank you.
to me the most important thing is the direction of the plastic washers one is beveled and must be installed correctly .
Use an extension piece to line the trap straight to attach to the end outlet tee
Nice video! Thanks for sharing

There is a rubber seal that goes in the connection between the drain assembly and the outlet of the disposal, yes. Thanks for watching!
1:05 🤣 got em
What side of a 70/30 sink should a garbage disposal be on?
There's no absolute answer for that one, but it's usually placed on the smaller side. Preference is king.
Nice, short, simple

I need a better system, mine keeps dislodging, what do you recommend?
That usually comes from the individual pipes being cut a little too short. Or missing gasket rings.

Yes, I think by the time you get the sink basket and tailpiece in, you should still have room. Best of luck!
@@Teach2Build Thank you so much !
Came to comments to see those people who have been doing it for 30 years saying how it's all wrong.
I have exactly same setup with dishwasher hooked to garbage disposal. I smell foul smell coming up from drains. Is there an alternative plumbing method? No clogs by the way
Consider cutting up a lemon and letting your dishwasher chew it up. That'll freshen it right up!
I have never seen a garbage disposal outlet that went straight out; they all are an elbow pointing down.

On the other sink there a big cyclinder i have a smalker 1 on a dink sink smaller white pvc 1
good tutorial and explaination
About the air vent!!🤔😎👍

In my head I'm thinking of like how water towers work...but drain form. I don't want to mess anything.

Is the pipe that leads to the disposal supposed to be on a slight downward angle?
It is, yes.
That is exactly how our kitchen plumbing looks

HEY!
Your welcome
Do you have a video plus a diswasher ?
Thanks for watching! I'm afraid we don't have a dishwasher installation video just yet. I'll pass that suggestion on, though. Take care!

My fucking seal is missing! Under the sink is leaking!! Fuck
Dude, you've got this. Get under there and make things happen!

I have 2 pea traps I took out garbage disposal now that pea trap wants to over flow
Meet me in the trap, it’s going down.
Ok
Why do they install garbage disposal on only one Sink ? is it a cost thing or lack of a 2 sink compatible garbage disposer ?
It would be overkill. You only need one. "Why is he driving one car when he could glue two cars together and drive them" that's you, that's what you sound like.
@@kriticosART well then I am stupid then. lol I fixed 2 different dispsal machine to each sink...lol

That T is specially designed to direct garbage disposal flow down the drain, deflecting it from moving up into the sink.

He didn’t explain the food disposal
That's in a different video. Thanks for watching!
@1:05 huh??
