Some of the most talented musicians working today. Brittany is brilliant, Thile has no trouble keeping up, Kowert rivals Edgar Meyer, Sarah fits right in... great ensemble - best house band ever.
Wow! When I listened to this live, I didn't realize the bass player paralleled the fiddle line. That's some impressive bass playing! And yes, the fiddling is quite good, too. It does sound a lot like a nickelarpa!
I recently went to Sarah's concert and she played this very same tune on her octave mandolin and the bass player was playing somewhat of a slap bass, I cannot express in words, how beautiful it was. Online video doesn't do justice. These guys are amazing!
You guys are just totally unbelievable!! I haven't seen this kind of talent and musicianship in a long time. I could listen to you guys for days! The ingenuity of your compositions and arrangements is mind-boggling. It's all just so beautiful!
Awesome fiddle player! There is nothing Brittany Haas cannot play. Would love to see more of this... Maybe a fiddle duet with her Swedish friend Lena Jonsson!
It turns out that in '17 at Grey Fox, there was a small schedule item, at one of the lesser stages, of "Scandinavian Fiddle Music" with Brittany and Lena. Got a front-row seat for an excellent set, with Molly Tuttle joining in on "Keeping the Cats Happy". Various staff were still excited about it at breakfast next morn. Lena could moonlight at standup comedy. Too bad no video was recorded.
Obviously everyone is ridiculous and smashes this set - but can we appreciate the gorgeous drumming! I hate drums on most read stuff but this guy just plays so melodically and musically!
Kenny Håkansson is/was(?) the guitarist in the group Kebnekajse. I have seen them twice and the first time is one of my best concert experience. Eklundapolskan is probably my favorite song by them. If you want more names of Swedish folk music, Väsen mentioned at the beginning of the video is very good. Lena Jonsson and Emilia Amper are two other fantastic musicians.
Still the most missed show in ages. Nary a broadcast on radio or live stream has ever introduced me to so many artists.
4:37 EPIC double bass playing the melody and harmony
Väsen is the jewel in the crown that is Swedish folk music.

IIRC Kowert has credited Meyer as a mentor and inspiration. btw, also a fan of Christian McBride. (jazz)
Brittany is totally awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys rock!!!
The House Band is superlative, unsurpassed!
AAR
Pure joy!! I love Vasen's version, but this is an extraordinary cover!

That's Paul Kowert, he plays with Chris in Punch Brothers, and with Brittany in Haas, Kowert, and Tice. He's amazing!

Beautiful! I Love the direction this is going.
5 string! Cool! I so hope these shows will continue and succeed. Such a wonderful variety of fascinating content!
I just love this version of the house band

I love it ! Brittany has so much fun when she's wailing on the fiddle !
2:00 songs start
awwwesome!
Why would I want to skip it ? She is so engaging, sweet & pretty!!

Would love the opinion of a Swede. I heard Ingwie Malmsteen and Benny Anderson (separately) play Swedish folk and it is awesome.

Billion likes.
Go to 2:00 if you feel like skipping the spoken introduction!
Oh, I was jamming with Brittany I remember at Bingsjöstämman 2015 and it was as she described. You should actually all come!
But, the fiddle player, is her name Haas or Hasse?
Is that a mistake or a play on words?
