BMW E30 Project ep6 - Gear Selector Shaft Seal Replacement

The E30's Getrag 240 manual gearbox has been leaking (what hasn't!). According to the E30 Zone, a gearbox leaking from the back is usually caused by the selector shaft seal. Replacement time!
The seal is a very cheap part - 20 Malaysian Ringgit (about USD 5), and you only need one tool. My elbow grease is free; your mileage may vary 😝
For the new transmission fluid, I used Redline MTL - shope.ee/2VHeyiVwLx
This is my 1991 BMW E30, 318i, with M40 engine. Right hand drive, made in Malaysia. I am restoring it on my own, right here at home, in my porch, with some hand tools. Thanks for the video, but after changing this seal 3 times with 3 different ones - oil still leak like crazy, turns out my selector goes way too much inside when in 2nd and 4th it creates a gap for oil to escape (getrag 260)
