In this Broadcast Award-winning, BAFTA and Emmy Award-nominated entertainment show, Taskmaster tyrant Greg Davies (Man Down, Cuckoo), with the help of his loyal assistant Alex Horne (The Horne Section and the show’s creator), sets out to test the wiles, wit and wisdom of five hyper-competitive comedians.
Comedians that have risked life, limb, and dignity in the hope of making the Taskmaster proud so far include: Frank Skinner (The Frank Skinner Show), Mel Giedroyc (The Great British Bake Off), Romesh Ranganathan (Asian Provocateur), Hugh Dennis (Outnumbered), Sally Phillips (Bridget Jones’ Diary), Rose Matafeo (Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner 2018), and Russell Howard (The Russell Howard Hour). Unaware of what awaits them in each wax-sealed envelope, only one competitor can become the victorious owner of His Royal Task-ness’ golden head and be crowned the next Taskmaster Champion.

Steve Pemberton wearing the real version of his T-shirt suit in the studio is a pretty neat detail.
Oh, well-done, I didn't even catch that!
his twitter account pfp comes from Taskmaster lol Steve is.....sizzling sexy hot.
I didn’t connect that until about the last five minutes but it’s such a nice detail!
Oh wow, a true artist indeed!
Uhhh, that’s what the t shirt is. Duh.
Sophie getting her ass out by mistake has to be the cherry on top of this series.
"Aww... bless her"
Gotta admit, Sophie is dishy.
@valap_ It certainly gives me hope 😘
The best part for me is that this show is very respectful to contestant wishes, which means she agreed to air the part where she accidentally moons everyone.
Hilarious that they just left it as is.
Also what's with the knee pads?
@@dontpanic716 I assume they all had knee pads for the crawling around.
4 of them look like they could be in an Agatha Christie murder mystery, while John looks like a boy who made a wish to go inside a Agatha Christie novel to solve crime.
Fantastic perspective!! 😄
Oh that's brilliant!
Reminds me of the series 8 finale where everyone was in patterns and Joe didn't get the memo
A Queen-loving, bird-voiced detective would be the perfect Agatha Christie protagonist.
@@Narokkurai Detective Reginald Bathgate, at your service!
I realized something. Now that we've had Joanne McNally, we can do a Champion of Joes with Jo Brand, Joanne McNally, Joe Thomas, Joe Wilkinson, and Joe Lycett!
That would be an awesome lineup.
Yes, please!
Fantastic idea!
someone please commission this omg
Commenting so Alex sees it
With every new episode, I feel so grateful that this show has become a constant and reliable source of joy in my life.
I'm just glad they're all on YT.
Yes
So well said🌻
Yeah, for now. How much longer do you think it'll run? It seems as if they're running out of well-known comedians lol.
Absolutely totally and completely agree!!!!!
Nick's American accent in the final task is *flawless*, holy crap
Check out his American accent in The Martin (2015)
I don't know why, but a large number of British comedians do the same American accent, and it's that one. It's pretty close to Sandi Toksvig's, and almost identical to Greg's. I might remember Marcus Brigstocke doing the same, I'm not sure.
"Applorze"
Yeah, it had real character to it. The man has talent.
He sounds like Corey Feldman.
I don’t think there has ever been a more fitting end to a contestant’s Taskmaster journey than Sophie accidentally flashing everyone as the
final thing she ever did on the show 😂
The bot even stole your linebreak :D
I also liked it better when you said it
Yeah
Freaking bots
but why did she have knee pads?????
What about Nish breaking the egg immediately right when he was about to win the final episode, straight after “I try my best but it’s never good enough?”
Nick may have not won, but he is the winner of our hearts. :D

Just when you think you can't love Sophie any more, she accidentally moons the world while wearing a gown & trying to twerk in celebration 🤣😂🤣😂🤣🥰

Sophie and Jenny Eclair are my favourite contestants, and they have a similar energy. They're sometimes confused by it all and create hilarity along the way.
192 is actually the highest final score in Taskmaster history.
Competeteve Dad in shambles
What a nerd
yeah, but also the most boring :/
@@blablah9938 I liked John. He was clever and energetic. Honestly Steve ended up annoying me the most. He just had an air of smugness that made it tough to root for.
Ha Ed will be so mad, gotta go listen to the Podcast episode! 😄
Greg as the Taskmaster calling John a Taskmaster nerd like it’s the biggest slander in the world is so hilariously brutal
All I can think of while watching them do that first task is: "It is a good thing they didn't make Mel Giedroyc do this task during her season, because the poor woman would have hyperventilated and become the first contestant to die from pocketing TM seals."
❤️❤️❤️
"Melt that down later"
She's also the first person came to my mind with that 100 seals 🤣
Literally spat my drink out reading this 😂😂😂😂
I didn’t think of that, now I’m wheezing🤣
"If he comes up in five, i'm going to windmill into the audience with rage."
Fucking classic Gred Davies.
Gotta love Gred
A windmill of bones
@@Agnes.Nutter ah yes, Gred Gavies
Shame it was four
Steve’s mannequin being an actual person was both hilarious and a great tie-in to the other task 😂
38:27 Nick's sheepish reaction and surprise at the round of applause for his short joke, was so sweet. What a wonderful group this was. Once again, a brilliant series! Bravo!
Love a sight gag!
he's so adorable. he seemed genuinely agasp when sophie flashed the audience at the end there too.
Nick seemed so befuddled throughout most of the tasks, but was also so sweet about it, even the skit he clearly didn't want to do. I just want to give him a big hug and a cuddle.
How can anyone not love Nick
Nick eating that biscuit reminds me of Jo Brand and David Bladdiel pausing for tea mid team task.
Even if last in the scores, Nick won fate in the end lol. Such a great contestant
I would pay ALL the monies for a Taskmaster house LEGO set with the lab, caravan, shed, phone booth, and dome included, plus a bag full of just little plastic ducks and pineapples.
Cool idea!
I think one did get the Lego green light. Two people made different proposals in 2022 at Lego Ideas Workshop or something like that.
Search "Lego Ideas Taskmaster" and the top result should be the one that got the required 10,000 supporters but wasn't chosen to be a real product, unfortunately. :(
WANT.
With a task lego and Greg Davies and Little Alex Horne (with a clipboard & whistle) people
Steve pushing for the stool competition, he's deranged hahahahahahaha
He really was pushing
Steve was the best contestant for me
Was he just trying to see if he could get Nick to do it or is he secretly a serial killer?
With all the mentions of “shed” I wish Rose Matafeo was back
Wasn't she going to host a kids version of TM? I wonder what happened to that...
@@fgjhham89 it’s been recorded, but I’m surprised the S18 lineup has been announced before TMJR
But she doesn't really have a shid, or access to a shid, or friends with a shid.
Ah yes the shid 😂
the shid is bananas
There should be a tournament of “last placers.” Anything to watch that cute Nick being all charming
This is an absolutely brilliant idea!
Hearing it, I'm actually quite surprised they've never done something like this
That idea goes around after every series, but Alex has said numerous times that he would never do that, because it would take away from the genuine spirit of the show.
@@MadcapShambleton What a stick in the mud. Some of the last place contestants are the spirit of the show.
@@MadcapShambletoncan you elaborate on that? I've Never read this anywhere and I just want to understand better What he meant because I think it would be so fun to have more series with past contestants 😭😭😭😭😭😭
@fralvan I believe he mentioned somewhere that if he gave the people who finished in last their own special it would encourage people to do poorly and try to get last place which defeats the purpose of the show.
The Nick wink absolutely KILLS ME
He did it *twice* during the stage task!! Finally decided to use Greg's crush to his advantage!
Sad to see it end already. Sophie flashing everyone by mistake is on par with this series
Does anyone really think that was accidental?
John Robin’s is Champion of Champions material. A man with Josh Widdicombe’s hunger for victory. 😂
Combined with Dara's beast-like skills😅
I would kill to see him ina TM 1v1 with Ed Gamble
Josh was funny. John is not. Competitive vs tryhard. I'll take Josh over John 100/100 times.
@@Elleander1 They'd literally murder each other
@@dontknowdocarebutthurt, are you? John is great.
How is Greg so good at guessing where the contestants were??? Impressive
seriously! of all the tasks that could have gone on almost endlessly, I was sure that was going to be one of them (and I would have enjoyed every second).
Maybe Jo Brand has been coaching him in mind reading
Maybe the task was longer and they cut the guesses that were wrong. Still is impressive.
He has been good at similar games in the past, certainly better than chance. Perhaps in his teaching career he developed an uncanny insight into reading people. Or at least, people who didn't go to RADA.
He interacts a lot with them and so you learn how they think.
I always look forward to Greg standing up from his throne on the final episode to grant the Taskmaster trophy to see his full majestic grandure.
Then I look up the winner's height just to put things in jaw-dropping perspective.
Some of my favorite moments [spoilers, obvs]:
- "Have you not seen Amy for a while?" "Or this show, ever?"
- John and Nick's surprisingly good American accents
- "You don't HAVE to eat it"
- Nick's adorable excitement when his wall gag got applause
- "Guess the five ingredients of the stool of your neighbor"
- Sophie finally winning an episode
- The noise Greg made when he realized he owed Nick 300 quid
- Finally, a winner does what I've wanted someone to do since season 2: kiss the trophy full on the mouth
Pretty sure the trophy's been snogged a plenty before, though I can't say for sure right now by which contestants - possibly Sophie Duker being one of them? 🤔
But I definitely remember at least one winner kissing the head full on. 😅
@@singenstattatmen5096I think Morgana Robinson did it.
@@Shadow4707 That sounds about right!
@@singenstattatmen5096 You're right about Sophie, I went back and checked her win. She was so adorable and seemed truly moved to be the champion! As for the others... excuse for me to rewatch all the series to see who did 😄
@@maddy_oh I'll retroactively use that as excuse, too, then, for having started to rewatch all the series from the start again recently. 😅✌️
I think the tone of this season is so perfectly described by Nick's "oh and fastest wins" 23:08 -- just mouthfull of biscuit and realizing far too late the mistakes that have been made. Truly great TV
They had the perfect opportunity to call that shitshow Inside No. 2 and they didn’t do it.
I would’ve called it “welcome to the shit show“
That could have been classic Pemberton
For the non UK viewers, there is a popular UK TV show called "Who Do you think you are"? So it's a play on words
@@RJR1787 also for context to non UK viewers, Steve has a show called "Inside No.9"
A show that Greg Davies has been on, btw. (I watched it and it had a couple of surprising twists about his family history.)
Honestly, full respect for the gambit of bringing literally nothing to a Taskmaster prize task and making Greg actually decide to score it. I don't know about the points, but as far as I'm concerned he's won this episode.
I mean he sold it so well. If him and Rylan Clark(from what we saw on this show) decided to open a cult, i think they would conquer the world.
I've considered "nothing" as a possibility for several prize tasks, and I'm so glad someone has finally taken the plunge on it and argued it successfully.
I think it was such a fitting pay off for a series’ worth of high effort presents
Considering that it was "what gives you the most hope for humanity" "nothing" is pretty brutal
Steve built a rapport that meant he could do it
He consistently nailed the present task all other 9 times, and generally showed himself to be smart and sporting guy under his school boy humor
If someone like Hugh Dennis or Tim Keye had brought in nothing as their last prize, they'd have been laughed out of the room without a chance to defend themselves
I was never a fan of Mr Swallow, and yet I think it is Nick I will miss the most.
Same here. This is my favorite thing I’ve seen Nick do.
First time I saw Mr Swallow was on Countdown. I knew he was brilliant, but fucking a was he annoying. Then I learned and was introduced to more things Nick. His latest appearance with Master Swallow and that amazing memorization bit made me a fan. He brilliant. Eveey comedian needs a shtick.
I love Mr Swallow, personally. I have become very fond of Nick through this series.
@@shantayedincsoy1611 I'm glad I saw Ted Lasso before ever seeing that episode of Countdown.
I catch myself singing Mr. Swallow's Jurassic Park a few times a week.
It's Jurassic Park
It's a massive park
What could possibly go wrong?!
This show is magic. No prior knowledge of the contestants and it's one of my favorite series so far.
17 seasons in and this is the first season I knew a contestant from another show. Every time I just get so attached
Every time I visit the UK I google past participants that I liked, usually those fresh in my mind, for live shows. No luck yet what with the odds of them doing the exact cities I go to being slim but it's really nice to go from knowing a few comedians in the UK to looking for some specifically.
Steve coming to the show and attempting the absolute biggest bullshitting that's ever been given on this show was magic.
So happy for Sophie, especially on the "Hug your special friend". She mad TM eat some very humble pie by kicking everybody's collective buttocks on that one. I was hoping that she would win at least one episode, and my wish was fulfilled! John Robbins has been a treat as well as all the other contestants. As with every new series, I'm never sure if I will be able to connect with the competitors, but in some way I have managed to find a little bit of me in each one.
if you think about it, all those cards and items didn't really help much to find the special friend. just walking around a bit was all it took, since it wasn't that far away anyway.
@@benzaiten933 but then you don't get a biscuit. I'll take a biscuit and 300 quids over the prize lots. Nick is the winner of the episode. 😁
Well put. Too many put-downs for Sophie but she triumphed in this one!

Sophie accidentally showing us her bum may be the hardest laugh i've had at the very end of a series, omfg. I was cry laughing so much. Great series, i loved all 5! I think i got a crush on Nick now, he's so adorable. John was always destined to win, as a retro oner i had so much faith in him. But all 5 were great, fantastic cast! Greg was in such a jolly mood as well all series long and Alex is perfect as always. Thanks TM team!
This show genuinely has saved me from sadness and despair so many times ! After the worst break up of my life, it literally was the only thing that could make me smile for days.
The world is just a little brighter with Taskmaster in it !
I will forever be thankful
I love whenever Alex is able to surprise Greg during banter with something he actually likes, even though he hates to admit it. :D
Nick showing that he is a smarty pants at the very end, still my favourite contestant. His murican accent was good too.
NOOO I DON’T WANT IT TO BE OVER
It's hard to believe Nick Mohammed wasn't sabotaging himself as a bit (or a secret task), but he did get 300 quid out of the deal. So he's got that going for him. ;)
When Nick made the prediction, he knew his score from the previous 9 episodes. He would also have remembered roughly what happened on the pre-filmed tasks, although he wouldn't know how well other contestans had done. And it would be a safe guess he would score quite low in the prize task. So he could have made a reasonable estimate of his final score within a margin of about 3 points either way.
The real climax was the live task, where Nick knew exactly how what score he needed. That takes his mind game with Greg to a new level.
@@tulliusexmisc2191 It's a magic trick. You don't guess. You secretly slip a new prediction in after you know the answer.
But how would he have done that from across the room, @notme222 ? Or was someone else in on the joke?
@@moogarland Yeah that's the unusual part. I have to assume it was done off-camera during one of the breaks. (Which would be easy to do. We know from other seasons they have lots of breaks when people leave the stage. For example, Sue Perkins modified her jacket during one.)
He also might have had an assist, as magicians often do.
But the technique of a small envelope inside a large envelope placed to the side is custom-made to slip in a prediction later. If you made a real prediction you wanted kept safe you'd use one envelope and tell Greg to put it in his pocket.
@@tulliusexmisc2191 He has done magic tricks all season. Guessing and hoping just doesn't work for this kind of thing. There's still a massive range where he could land. Additionally, they do extra tasks they cut if they don't quite work, so you never know which ones will remain. And even if that weren't the case, you don't remember half a year later which ones hadn't come yet.
It's really "simple": He had a self-signed envelope with the number inside a larger envelope signed by Greg. The large envelope is the prop where you can switch things out. The smaller envelope is something he can easily copy himself, but with the real number inside.
And remember, it's a TV show, there are cuts in between, breaks, etc. We don't see everything that happens on stage, but Nick has done 9 episodes before, so he would know when to do the swap.
Sophie held up the hope for humanity with her win this episode!
To be honest, she should have won the prize task.
@@scorpioninpink It's a lovely idea, but it's not for us right now and, thanks to the human race, I'm more scared than I am hopeful.
The use of generative AI stems from a lazy, insular, anti-collaboration, and anti-humanitarian mindset and it comes through in the products and services that make use of it.
I don't deny that it has potential to improve the world, but any look at it below surface level shows that humans are just too lazy and greedy to moderate what goes in or comes out.
There 's already been too many serious errors that could be solved with simply proof reading.
If you're lazy enough to use generative ai, you're lazy enough to be complacent about what it makes.
2:37 Alex Horne is my present for this prize task. No discussion needed. I'll take my five points.
Greg would score that one point with delight
I'm so glad Sophie won the final episode! Maybe I have a soft spot for the underdogs but both her and Nick were my absolute favorites this series! Nick already had a one up because I loved him as Nathan in Ted Lasso. I honestly loved all 5 of them and am not surprised that John won the entire series. I am sad its all come to an end though. This group was fantastic as a whole!
Nicks slight of hand score change is by far the most impressive thing done ever on any series of Taskmaster, I knew John would win and this was an incredible cast 😊❤
When did he do it, though? He gave Greg the envelope at the beginning of the show, so when would he have changed the score inside? I'm so confused about this (or maybe just not that observant). 😂
@@moogarland I'm pretty sure there are many breaks etc. in the live show that are of course edited out. In that case he'd have plenty of time

So proud of Sophie for winning the episode and not coming in last for the series!!
It's surprising that there's not enough love in the comments for the team of 3's tv game show. It's absolutely bonkers. Broke me completely.

The series winner will probably not be a surprise, but I am just excited to see everyone try their best again.
Lots of wonderful things in this series but my favorite thing is my newfound love for Nick Mohamed. What a gem of a person.
If I had a nickel for every time someone said Guantanamo Bay on this show...

How can a show that makes me so happy, make me so sad? Thank you Series 17, I will miss you!
I hope after this series Sophie got to see her friend Amy. It's so sweet that she kept thinking of her during those tasks.
Thanks for making this available outside the UK. We might not have grown up with these performers, but we get to know them and both celebrate and humiliate them.
Nick might not have won the show, but he certainly won my heart, absolutely amazing all the way through!
I mean I'm happy Series 18 was announced but I don't think Series 17 cast will be toppled anytime soon. They were the right mix of chaos, wholesome and sheer lunacy.
So true, especially after witnessing the chaos that was the series 16 cast 😂
but i thought the same after series 16. i trust the team behind TM.
The fact that Nick is a total magic nerd makes me so happy. He should do something with Neil Patrick Harris.

Nick is the champion of hearts
This was the most rewarding season, period. Everyone won at least once, the finale was a spectacular spectacle. Season 17 was just a total joy to watch!!! THANK YOU ALEX!!!!
why are they not talking more about nick's prediction? it's freakin impressive!!!
I guess that Dracula served a purpose after all... he was channeling dark magicks with that!
nick is a magician
"Oh, and _fastest_ wins." What a realization to have in episode 10.
How did Nick know? 👀
He knew he how many points he was at. He knew which tasks were not yet aired so he could make a reasonable guess as to what he would earn on them. It also means going into the final life task, he would know what points he needed to make and could theoretically throw if he needed to. The best part is that, if my logic holds, he knew he HAD to win that final live task for 300 pounds.
It's not that deep. He knows magic tricks, as is obvious from his "special friend" mannequin magic act. "Prediction in an envelope" is an extremely well-known magic trick, just as his rope trick is.
Those game show ideas were great. I can’t believe Nick let Steve talk him into Poo Do You Think You Are.
A perfect, batshit final task. This show really gets me through my week and I'm very much looking forward to the next series. Thanks again Taskmaster team for posting on UA-cam for us from outside the UK!
