Forgot to mention the PINLOCK system for the colder days. Also, the Foggy Respro neoprene velcro insert can be used to totally keep outside air from entering the eye area of a full face road helmet, works almost as good, but, definitely keeps all dust out! Haha, I did MMA too for a while. Great series.
The last Fog City I used was glued to the visor, and left residue when came off. The Pinlock just has a dry bead of silicone, and seems to work better and is more clear. You have to have visors that are Pinlock compatible. It’s the standard in cooler climates where fogging happens every time you put on your lid.
Mike, not sure, if I am doing this reply properly but enjoyed your great presentation on safety equip./ gear! Sort of new at dirt tracking, crossing over from (an older guy) from MX where most of my racing exp. is from. For me personally use Sidi boots & Bell helmets, because found all gear fits differently, every has anatomy is different; recommend trying on diff. brands before buying, found these brands fit me best and last longer. Donnie
I have been wearing under protection and MX gear on the Short Tracks and leathers on the larger tracks. My thinking is on the Short Track I am dressing for the impact and the larger tracks for the slide. The leathers I have just don't allow for my under protection. Great video series. Thank you for your time.
I feel you are onto something with your reasoning on MX gear versus leathers. Resisting abrasion is a bigger factor on long tracks, no doubt. Impact with barriers, in my mind, looms large on big tracks. I'll try to address that soon. Thank you for sharing your perspective!
i have always used snell rated street helmets for dragracing, flat track and ice racing myself since the early 90's. i also use road race gloves full body armour instead of a chest protector also use shin and knee brace combos like you have i also use full leathers when im on a half mile or longer(my old drag race suit)
CDM: I loved it. My favorite equipment is probably the knee protection. It was nice because if you don’t have flexibility [at the knee], when you fall you would just have your feet out and you wouldn’t be able to get back on the motorcycle.
you prolly dont give a shit but does anybody know a method to get back into an instagram account? I was dumb lost the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can offer me
@Sterling Ayden Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and Im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
The shoe is by Lightshoe lightshoe.com/ West Coast Hotshoe facebook.com/westcoasthotshoe/ does great work also. The boots are the TCX Speedway. Glad to hear you're considering giving it a try! Let us know how it goes.
And don't skimp on the safety equipment. Course that does not mean you have to buy every single bit if gear there is available and the most expensive ones though realize you get what you pay for. In my experience , when I have what I feel is the best equipment available per my standards I feel safer than with inferior equipment. When I feel safe I ride harder or faster whith less to worry about
Whats your reason to use Mx stuff instead of leather? I like Mx stuff in the hotter days, but still think a full leather suit gives the best protection. What’s your opinion? Thank for the nice videos!
If speeds are low enough I'll weigh several factors: Lower weight. A set of leathers I'm prepared to fall off on a mile are a bit heavier that the kit in this video. It's easier to keep cleaner. The jersey and pants are easy to wash or just replace if dirty. Temperature management is easier in MX gear. Lower cost. High-quality leathers can easily be $2 or $3 grand, or more if custom. Also, if I'm working on my own bike it's easier to do in MX gear. If I have a race mechanic with me, I'm more inclined to wear leathers. But once I get to a track that is over about 1300 feet in length I wear leathers no matter what.
Hey Tim. They used to be available from Motorcyclesuperstore, but no longer. My last set I tracked down on the internet were out of Italy. It wasn't easy. I've heard they may be making a comeback here with some retailers. Check with the steel-shoe guys like Lightshoe and West Coast Hotshoes. They often work with boot manufactures. Let me know what you find. Cheers.

davezike I’ll look into that. I use the fogcity device on my shield. Have you seen that?

Thanks Mike for the great explanations and time it took to make these videos. I’m a not a spring chicken any more and a newbie, so this is nice info.
You're welcome!
