  • I consider this song Skeletons of Society's biological twin.
    Good ol' Dave Lombardo and his Tasmanian Devil fills.
    I liked this take but don't know what I was thinking on the first half of the solo spot. Did it wrong. If it continues to bother me I may do this one over. Such a silly mistake!
    Hope you dig and thanks for watching.

    One of Slayer’s best riffs and most underrated songs. This rendition showcases Lombardo’s sense of groove which is lacking in most extreme metal drumming.

    Well, if it makes you feel any better, I've watched this at least 5 times in a row now and I hadn't known something was wrong with it until I finally read the description. (and I still don't know what that mistake was)
    And yes, I also feel that this song and Skeletons of Society are very closely related in terms of insane, catchy drumming.

    Josh, I've been a fan of yours and have watched almost every video you've done. But I have to tell you it drives me crazy seeing that 1 Tom to the left of your hi hat!! Lol! You always seem to pull it off when you use it!!! But it drives me mad Bro!!! Lol!! You could put it above your hats, even above your 1st Tom,etc. I always think your gonna go off beat or hit a rim or hit hat stem, but you don't? Please tell me it has caused you problems on other takes that you had to cut or start over? It would ease my OCD! 😅

    • @joshsteffen
      @joshsteffen  7 місяців тому

      If i had 3 toms in a row the hihat would be too far over for my liking. So i play it this way. It's a pro/con thing in every choice made!

    • @MichaelBrown-x1q
      @MichaelBrown-x1q 7 місяців тому

      @@joshsteffen Hey thanks for responding right away Josh, I appreciate it! Ya I like my hat close to me also, but I'm 6'5" tall so I don't mind putting my two small toms right over my hi hat, and I can get away with another 3 toms and 2 floor toms kinda under and away the front 3 rack toms. I would love two play 2 bass drums, but I can't afford the special hi hat converter that can bring the hi hat right where I want it? So double kick pedal it is, which I don't mind at all. I have a 9 piece kit with 1 bass drum, but I have to have my hi hat close. So I guess a good example of how I like my set up would be like Nicko McBrain's. If you look at his kit, his hi hat is placed perfectly, with a lot of toms. But if that's your issue, I guess it makes me feel better instead of watching you reaching all the way across your body and reaching for your hi hats? I don't know how people can find that comfortable? I just figured you would be able to raise that Tom higher, connected to your far left crash, but I noticed how you like your toms. Not criticism at all Josh cause you pull it off beautifully, and love watching your covers, and will continue to! One of my favorite videos of yours is Hostile Minnow! It is straight up badass!!!

    • @joshsteffen
      @joshsteffen  7 місяців тому

      @@joshsteffen Ya, I've yet to see those on your kit, even though I have watched you do Subdivisions without them, but Motorbreath could use them and toned down a little could work for a lot of Metal for sure! I'll keep a look out for them?
