Absolutely love this EQ - it's always on the mix bus adding a bit of top and bottom for client mixes and is often used for mastering work as well. Can't wait to get the API 5500 Anniversary EQ from you guys as well shortly - might have to do a video ;-)
Thanks for the demo; this one sounds ace tubes or not. Very tempted to snag one!! Two used specimens are going locally for usd875 from a reverb-rando and 950 from a dealer.
Ha. Even with YT compression + listening on cheap bluetooth in-ears with only on ear actually in, that STILL made the vocal pop out in a big way. Sold it for me.
@@chadfayrobinson7537 It simply narrows or broadens the Q of the EQ, it’s not a particularly integral part of the product but can be useful if you want to narrow down the EQ a little. Most videos don’t focus on the Q section of an EQ
As far as quality of sound pertaining to mix bus and mastering. Would you go for the rubber band & Dione combo or the Igs 825eq & ngbuscomp? Any other recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
The NGBusComp is a superior compressor to the Dione in that you have the IRON option as well as sounding a little smoother. The 825EQ is very different to the Rubber Bands, so that's a very difficult comparison to make in terms of sound quality. As such, there isn't an objective opinion here, it's going to be entirely opinion based! The 500 series option has it's merits in that it will be significantly less expensive to purchase. However I would argue that the 19" option you mention will have potentially a higher headroom, superior sound and possibly be more versatile as a result. In truth, i think both options are very viable!
@@n.shafarich That’s cool, everyone has their taste. This was EQ’d as described to bring way more “forward” and sweet. You can equally soften and darken tones with this EQ if that’s more your vibe. This was recorded with a U47 though, so it was really nice to start with 🔥
Oh, wow! Never considered IGS up until now!
It is a brand we are putting some focus on at the moment because they deserve more love!

It’s a masterpiece, especially considering the price! You’re very lucky to get the 5500 too, they are SO limited in numbers worldwide.

@@shaft9000 thank you for the kind words!
Both sounded more open with the rubber bands doing its thing.I think the build quality of Igs gear is very good too and priced very reasonably.
I couldn't agree more!

It has 2 high quality transformers per channel. I sometimes drive the signal in to really get them going.
Im liking what im hearing from IGS more and more. They seem to be more of a 'boutique' company, as opposed to a 'clone' company.
Totally agreed!
Thanks for the video ! I have had mine for a few months its awesome but nobody really talks about the band nob or ever adjust it in there videos???

My next 500 purchase.
Always on my mixbus.. Or Wesaudio
You seem like a wise engineer...
Sounds so good that I can hear it on my phone speaker
And thus it makes a big difference even to those who listen through "normal, everyday" speakers! It's a superb EQ!

@@sxproaudio Makes sense. Appreciate your feedback!
it also does not color too much thanks to its IGS transformer, very good clone
