  • These pickups make a great pair. Neither of them are super high output but they have enough dirt to get fairly shreddy.
They also do a great job in a clean context although I didn't feature that in this video.
I used my Yamaha THR10X on the brown 2 patch.
Support the channel and hit the like button :-)
    Cheers!

Such an inspiration... Shredding with soul is a commodity that most musicians lack. Many people can play 100mph, but only a handful can tell a story with it. Thank you for restoring some faith !!! Keep rocking.

What i love about the PAF pro is with my rig it has a telecaster like bite but with the fatness of a humbucker. I also like that i can play any style with the p'u.
    The PAF pro covers Blues,rock,Metal,country,jazz,reggae,funk.

Nice demo, and terrific playing! You have a terrific style, and the tones you are pulling should show the skeptics of the PAF Pro that it is very capable as a hard rock pickup.

That whole tone orbit you did was tasty. I use that type of progression for some alien flair. Your accelerating staccato is excellent. Thanks for the review - I'm looking for something a little lower gain for a bridge and a complimentary single for an HS guitar. I tend to like vintage or medium gain pickups. This is an excellent review as you've shown them both off well.

I have two Strat styles, one with a DiMarzio PAF PRO at the bridge,HS-2 pickups in the middle and bridge. The other has 3 HS-2 pickups which works equally excellent from country country rock, blues blues rock classic rock and heavy metal. My aforementioned guitar is the same. This guitar just killed in it's own right, awesome tone.🤟👍

I have a guitar that had a S3 bridge, a Paul Gilbert injector middle and a Chopper neck. I loved the tones and sounds I got, but the neck got screwed up, so I ended up robbing the SD3 and putting it into a Jem jr. But I was thinking of replacing the neck and going w/ a different bridge pu to compliment that chopper, this might be the way to go..thanks for sharing this

  • @iplayloud2

Excellent playing!! I find the Paf Pro sounds a hair too bright sometimes. That can be remedied by screwing in the allen screws a bit lower. They come stock raised higher than usual. (Nothing to do with pickup height, but the position of the pole in the magnetic field)

This is awesome! You sound great bro. Beautiful playing. I just traded in a string-thru Dean 450 Custom with EMGs for a Jackson SL3X DX with a Floyd Rose. It has an HSS setup and I’m trying to figure out which pickups to get. The stock Indonesian Jackson pickups blow. Debating on PAF Pro or FRED for bridge and Pro Track or Chopper for neck. Not really sure what to do with the middle. Anyone have any advice? I want to learn some Satriani tracks and this sounds great.

hello, I don't know what it I called, but it is something that Eddie Van Halen used to do a lot, you can hear it in the solo to You're No Good by Van Halen.
In the-art-of-guitar's video called something like 25 EDDIE VAN HALEN GUITAR TECHNIQUES he talks about it and how to do it, I think he may call it something like "glide harmonics"
      Hope this helps:)

@@ewansmith165 Thank you for your reply! Yea that’s helpful actually. It’s funny because I’ve just purchased a few guitar techniques DVDs and one of them is a van halen guitar techniques. I’ll also look at the ones you mentioned!
I’ve recently watched many guitarist YT videos on top guitar techniques or 50 guitar techniques you should know but none of them explains that particular technique.
Now that you have mentioned van halen uses it in many of his songs I’ll start to do some van halen covers! Really appreciate the reply / info!

I reckon this response is a bit late at this stage, but the best bridge humbucker for an 80's hair tone would arguably be the Seymour Duncan JB pickup.
