Rad review! I'm using this bike as a 2nd e-bike for family and friends on the beach. I live in a beach town that has hills and e-bikes are essential. The portola keeps up w my Murf Alpha for my friends n fam to ride alonside.
for a folding bike you need to show how it folds up and if it stays in place. some bikes unravel when folded which could be an issue while putting it in a trunk or while in the trunk while a car is making turns. others lock well folded up and some don’t. for me i see two categories: power with dual motors, which end up being super heavy. or lightweight, single motor for versatility on portability. but tough to get a full idea with how it packs up. otherwise it’s a good review on overall use.
I should’ve included a bit to show how it folds. But this bike does fold down very compact and has a special strap to keep it folded so it doesn’t flip open while moving it around. A pretty smart design idea and it works well. This is definitely in the lightweight category and is pretty easy to move anywhere you need to
The brakes are a no name brand but are really high quality. Honestly one of the best points of this bike. I didn’t properly bed my rear brake which is what is causing the bit of squeal on the back. I should be able to clean my rotor and get it quiet again. My front brake is totally silent though.
The rotors are 2.3mm thick, so they’re less likely to get bent like typical 1.8mm thick ones. That’s handy for a folding bike where the rotors are more likely to get bent.
Not at all ! This bike is definitely on the smaller side and the handles are very close to rider. My girlfriend is 5’2” and she is very comfortable on this bike
Yes. I found the bars too low for my 6’ frame, so I installed a 90mm riser bar and rotated them back so I can sit more upright. That’s about as much as one can go before putting too much tension in the cables and hoses. FYI, a 5’2” friend who has a Lectric XP 2.0 and Lectric XPedition finds the reach excessive for her on the XP and acceptable on the XPedition. The Portola’s reach is similar to the XPedition’s at its closest to the rider (it comes with an adjustable stem).
I understand but I am also riding the bike in my small town with very little traffic. Any of the stops I go through I can clearly see up the both sides of the street. If im unable to see or see any cars I always stop
Perhaps his area allows “Oregon stops” for bikes. When there is no potential conflict with other road users, bicyclists can treat stop signs as yield signs, and red lights as stop signs.
Do you guys think the Portola is the best sub $1000 E-Bike ? Let me know down below!👇

0:01 What is the brand of its brake? That high-pitch noise would be annoying me.

Possibly the Duotts c29 but I prefer 29 inch wheels.
Not a bad review except the part where you ran the stop sign. Bikes are also required to obey the laws of the highway.
