Commence the new series! Another U-Boat story, since you all are high-grade submarine enjoyers. So here you go - this time, it's the story of the man who would become Chief Engineer of U-190, a boat with a rather unique history. Enjoy!

      1) Thank you very much. Loving these series.
      2) How about a series on the German soldiers as they a) enter Belgium b) Cross France's border c) and cross Western Europe to Dunkirk. For me, I still don't understand why Germany didn't destroy the British army then and there. Yes Germany has a victory, but they could have moved Britain a lot closer to capitulation. Maybe it is just too small a story or I am the only one that likes the idea. lol
      3) Did Germany really think they could have peace with The Soviet Union? As much as H1t1er hated the communists, I just have difficulty seeing him burying his hate by design to finish The British off before ever starting the war with The USSR.
      4) Strategically why H1t1er ever declared war on The USA when the USA didn't declare war on Germany? The longer the war goes with the US sitting and Germany avoids the two front war the better.
      3) & 4) Both 3&4 enhance each other. The USA PEOPLE were not for War with Germany or Japan. Japan changed that equation With Pearl Harbor. At that point, Germany'not declari w
      5) "rehabilitation camps of H1t1er youth. maybe good story

Great ,as a US submarine sailor of the 80s, I first watched Das Boot underway submerged, at the end we all quietly went to our duty watch or bunk with many thoughts

Brilliant once again and this time I have a vague connection. When I was growing up in the 60s and 70s, in the UK, living across the road was the Burgers! Mr Burger was an ex-U-boat sailor who was depthcharged in 1944, made a POW and fell for an English rose. Hopefully this book will answer all the questions I was too afraid to ask Jochen back then.

I do find these series fascinating, informative, from a German perspective,I also realize ,that we all follow the call of our leaders, these men ,women,of Germany could so easily be our brothers, sisters.i find the thoughts, appreciation of life, family,no different from ours, but tells us to avoid nationalism at all costs, conflict usually follows, blood shed, wars.thankyou for this 2nd series.

Refreshing to hear the view that is undoubtably correct about those who "lose their lives" in wartime, it irks me to hear so often how many "sacrificed their lives", no, as is pointed out here, it was unavoidable, nobody "gave their lives"🙏

I have been an avid fan of all the stories posted on your channel for sometime now. What has struck me more than anything else as a common denominator which each author is the human element. Three of my uncle's served in various british regiments during the war and like all vets ,one gets to hear the humour rather than the horror. There was no animosity toward the regular German force by any of them and it was reckonised that only a small portion were really nazis. As an English Man it's not only refreshing to hear stories from the other side but to understand humanity still existed. Thankyou for your hard work and I congratulate you on delivery an informative and balanced understanding of the relevant history.

Your speaking voice is impeccable as well, a VERY welcome change from the AI narration so frequently used. Ich werde ungeduldig auf jede neue Episode warten.

@TrenchDiaries - I was able to watch the German version of Band Of Brothers titled "Generation War." There were so many scenes that brought me to tears. "The Pacific" is the Band Of Brothers for the American war in the Pacific. They all reflect the torture war is to ones soul. IMO** war changes everybody. Some live a tortured life. Some find Christ because of it. Some are consistently searching to get an equal does of adrenaline rush like that they experienced from war. Everyone is very unique. Soldiers bring war home and its casualties don't stop when the war does. From what my family experienced I have to credit God for their sanity, love, kindness and mercy.
** That's all I have as I wasn't in a war. In my case, I have others in the family I can speak with who honestly reply with graphic details. My primary purpose for the asterisk is I don't front with people. If IDK then IDK.
