Excellent video Penny. I started derma rolling my lips almost 4 years ago, right after I turned 62. I am so pleased with the fullness of my lips, and the reduction of lip lines. I will definitely go back and read the scientific information. Blessings, and love, beautiful..MaryEllen
Hello! I have many lips lines. By the past, I tried 3 times a week and forgot to do most of the time. Now, with your new protocol for cosmetic needling, I do once a week the whole face. That way, I do not forget. Hope it is enough for lip lines. Thank you so much for your generosity. I really appreciate. Bye bye from Quebec!
Yes! I have melasma on my upper lip and paid $850 for a laser treatment that to be honest didn't work. 😭 I wish I would've tried this first. Thank you!!!!

Hi Dr. Penn I started with the Osmosis Renew and The Dear serum and followed up morning with c and E. I could not handle the .025 12 pen needle for it was to painful. I used the nano B cartridge which did great. I started out 3 times a week then 5 times a week. I am 68 years old and have lip lines bad. This after 3 weeks has been unbelievable how much it has done to reduce the lines. I would send a picture but it just didn’t show how bad they were. I have the A6 pen and have a A7 pen on order to see if I can use the 12 pen needle. Reason is the a6 seemed to painful on .025 and it shouldn’t be. So thought I may have a defective pen. I watch all your videos and have learned so so much.Thank you so much for taking your valuable time to help people like me.Thanks again Sue
It's long shot you'll see this after 4 years, but occasionally it happens, so here goes. That's remarkable to see a big difference after 3 weeks, and it seems often to do treatments that often, but I'm on a learning curve. I haven't tried a pen yet, but am thinking to take the leap. I don't have lip lines much yet, but have lost a fair bit of lip definition and volume. I've been wondering if it helps w/ any of those matters? Haven't yet seen someone address it, but hoping to. I'm 56 and my biggest problem that I'm hoping to see a difference in is jowling. I have face sag and I'm really starting to pucker on my jowl area.

Hey, Penn. Great video. But are you still doing this? It's been 2 years. Do you have before and after pictures? Maybe your face-lift took care of whatever vertical lip lines you had? You amazing, by the way, and your Dr.'s explanations were fantastic. Thanks if you have time to give an update on this video. ❤️😎
I'm so excited to try this protocol! My lip lines have been bothering me quite a bit lately. I seem to hold a lot of stress around my mouth...always thinking relax your lips! This seems so easy to incorporate into my skincare routine! Thanks for all the good information! Love you! Julie
So do I!! I don't even notice it until my jaw and teeth hurt from clenching and I look in the mirror. I 'feel' like I am trying to keep a gentle smile on my face, but with the over strong face muscles, my chin is dimpling and my face just looks mad! It's embarrassing and sad when people want to stay away from me due to RBF. Thank God for my good friends who see right past it and know my heart, ❤️
Super stoked to try this protocol! I have been scouring UA-cam for info and this is BY FAR the most detailed and informative. What a gift - thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. 👍🏽🤗
This is so nice to have it all spelled out like this! Thank you, Penn. I have less vertical lip lines than some, however, I am wondering if i could use this regimen on my nasolabial folds and marionette lines...They are not extremely deep but noticeable. Are those type of more “depressed” lines less likely to respond to this kind of regimen? Any other recommendations for those areas?? THANK YOU!! 😊 ❤️
Hello Dr. Penn, I saw a newer reply from you that you’re not doing the lips 3 times a week anymore but you’re doing a full face with the same products? I think it said once a week? There was suppose to be a video in Amazon but I could not find it? Did I miss it? Also, I want to thank you for all of your time in coming on here and educating us on how to properly micro needle and to properly apply products to our faces. Thank you!
Hi there! Yes I backed off to once a week bc I just couldn’t keep up. I trial so many things that sometimes I have to adjust ♥️ To that end-I’ve actually taken a mid summer break from needling! I’ll be resuming in sept. I do think though that needling MORE often, less deep, is the way to get great results. So I’ll likely resume the lip area 1-2 times a week in the fall. 3 would be great but it’s hard to keep up (as I’m sure you understand) ♥️
Oh! Also, just to be clear-I am NOT a dr. I’m an advanced Esthetician- drs have a MUCH bigger scope of practice and I defer to their expertise often ♥️
Wow Penn so glad you research this for us I am very excited about using this technique for lip lines. I am a former smoker so my lines are ready for some repair. Thank you 😊
When do you plan on doing another video with your “after” lip line results? It would be great if you can insert still shots of before and after close up photos of your lip lines
burschgirl hi there:) I am doing this preventatively-I don’t have pronounced lines yet (that’s what I’m trying to push off as long as I can). This was several months ago and you can definitely see close up my lips in lots of my current videos- but again....I’m in prevention mode so my “results” are in the keeping the lines away not the getting rid of them. Hope that makes sense!!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE absolutely . I dont have lip lines yet either . Lines everywhere else though.lol so glad you taught us that we can help prevent them
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE Penny, I watch many of your videos and so appreciate your advice. I have smoker’s lip lines although I’ve never smoked. I watched your video and began dermarolling (.25) in June 2020 using Deerskin Tranex before rolling followed by Osmosis Renew fifteen minutes later. The following morning I have used Vitamin C Dear Serum. I have used this process all over my face not just upper lip. At age seventy-seven, I don’t see any progress but am concerned about the drying effects of the Osmosis (I think). Perhaps another product or a change of process? Would appreciate an advice. Many thanks, Connie
Hi Connie 😊 What are you using to hydrate/moisturize? The renew can be drying (vitamin A) but we should be able to mitigate that with the right humectants/moisturizers. Let me know and I’ll see what we could adjust ❤️
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE Penny, thank you for your response and I think you are probably correct in that I need a good moisturizer after using the vitamin C on the mornings after derma rolling. I have been using a Covergirl primer before make up or if no make up I like CeraVe lotion. So you think I should continue with the process three times per week followed by a better moisturizer ? Could you suggest one please. Many thanks, Connie
Aaa I need this I just turned 45 in August...I avoid straws, I absolutely avoid pinching my lips when trying to hold my toothbrush when I'm multitasking and my hands are moving something else, I noticed after I do this with my toothbrush I could see lines after...I almost fainted. I don't smoke just so I don't get lines, I won't even drink from a coup glass so my lips don't curl or pucker with curled edge of glass. I have OCD now.
Bad news: smoking or so doesn't give you those lines.. my mother had a few when she turned 60 you couldn't hardly see it but still they where there... sne never smoked or had alcohol her whole life. Only a few wrinkles, not that bad. I hope to turn 57 next month :-) smoked for 40 years, did drink alcohol and guess what: I have the skin of my mother.. almost no wrinkles round my eyes, no grey hair, a few wrinkles on my upperlip. Very lighty but you can see it. I asked a dermatologist and the answer was clear: it is hormonal.. did you ever see a man - say 55 years old - who has those lines? Even if they smoke and drink, eat unhealthy food every day? Me neither. It really has to do with women getting older. I hate it, wish I had the smooth skin with no lines at all like when I was 20 ;-) O, I have 1 horizontal line; you can only see it when I smile. I will keep on smiling and laughing as much as I can, wrinkles or not: having fun is more important than avoiding (maybe...) a wrinkle. Keep on smiling!!
I do my lips Too with the . 25 setting. I didn't know tightening the area's would help more so tysvmfs XOXO 😘. And the dermatology vitamin c, e, and fuerlic is just as good the equivalent to the skin cueticals but cheaper like half the price but same ingredients and amounts.
Hi ...i just recently found your channel. (you are awesome!) i have been doing this protocol for 2wks...im new to microneedling, so im using this as a break in for my entire face... i have not noticed any line reduction, yet. but, i must say my skin feels amazing... and i am definitely enjoying this deep dive into skincare.. thank-you for sharing all your knowledge...xx
Dr. Pen is on sale via their website plus 10% off w/e-mail sign up. Happy New Year, Penny! Thanks for sharing your time, knowledge and training with us. 😊
Hello Penny, I am thinking of starting this and was wondering how you feel this protocol worked? Thank you so much for posting such informative videos, have a great day and take care!
LOVE it! Thanks, Penny! Could I use a .25 regular roller? I just got a new one and want to put it to good use! Melasma is a bear! I’m so glad that there is promising protocol b/c honestly, not much works! Thank you for your awesome and informative videos....lip lines are really starting to crop up on me and I dislike them greatly! I can handle crows feet, forehead lines, etc... but lip lines... NO! Xo
Hello! I just found your channel and I am SO excited to try this protocol! I'm wondering - how would this fit it to a full face collagen induction microneedling schedule? Or is it possible to do this protocol for the full face as well? I have the understanding that collagen induction microneedling should be done for a series of 3 or 4 spaced every 4-6 weeks apart. Thank you so much 🥰
Penny, I love you. I have such horrible lip lines. I am going to give this a try. The price of professional lip line filler is over $600.00 where I live. Bless you and your beautiful soul.
I just found your channel so I haven’t watched any of your videos other than this one and I’m so excited to binge watch the rest of your videos!!! HOW do you keep and get your skin to look that beautiful with not a drop of make up on? I am sure watching the rest of your videos my question will be answered and hopefully I can get my skin to look better from your information I would die for your skin!! I’m 44 and I absolutely feel embarrassed and sad at how awful I feel my skin looks I’m just glad I found your channel and hope that your advice will help. Thank you so much for sharing this information it is literally so exciting knowing there may be hope for me to look better and feel better just because I can’t afford to go get plastic surgery which I would in a second if I could LOL anyways you’re beautiful thank you for giving me some hope! I hope you are having a wonderful day!
Penny, can this protocol be done over fillers? My llines were severe and even with Juvederm filler, I still have a few that are surely visible from outer space! If yes, how long should I wait after getting filler to needle? Also, will this routine work on forehead furrows and rabbit lines across bridge of nose?
Oh, I wouldn't chance this over filler. It pin pricks the skin and vibrates!!!! It will dissipate the fillers!! I'e had just a regular facial after fillers and lost the benefits from the fillers completely do to just the heat (steam, hot towel) I wouldn't. Fillers are outrageous expensive why chance it? I had a gf do it after fat injections that was quite an extensive treatment (lipo to acquire her own fat) and expensive and I thought it completely ruined the fat injection work she spent so much money on..This is just my opinion not a pro.
Kim Pilates I’ve been microneedling with filler for years. You just have to wait a month after having filler injected. And honestly it plumps it up & seems like it makes it last longer. I have researched it & asked many skin professionals & they all agree with what I’m doing.
Penn, I am just now watching this video and planning on starting this protocol. Since it has been about 2 years since you filmed this are you happy with the results from this protocol and if so are you still doing it.
@@dianeparry5924 but did you do lip lines with success? I started to do my lip lines and it activated something in my system and I got sores. I never have a problem when I needle just my face. As soon as I am healed, I’m going to continue.
I was looking for something I could do at home for the fine lines I am getting around my lips and found this guide! I am 39 this year and noticing wearing lipstick or gloss it runs spreads into the fine lines. I already use a derma stamp for a scar and roller for my face. I was struggling handling the derma pen around my lips though. I didn’t know the derma pens by dr Pen move like a tattoo machine quickly and thought it was just a sudden stab. I also didn’t know about using my serum for slip. This is very useful and will look at Dr Pen options.
This is perfect for me as I have vertical lines on my upper lip.. I will start this tonight (I am ordering Tranexamic Acid serum tonight) but I have everything else and will use the HA tonight.. Thank you Penny this is so useful to me.. Love wendy
Thanks Penny! This is so good. I am definitely going to follow your regimen. I’ve ordered the products (except for vitamin c which I already have). I appreciate all the work/research you put in this. Do you think this will also help plump up our lips if we go a bit on them with our pens? --staying at 0.25 or below, that is.
I’m so happy I found you, now following. I will be doing this using H.A. will be ordering the other things you used as well. Thank you for sharing all of the tips you have!
Great! Just what I need, Penny. I have more noticeable lines than yours, hope this will help me, especially I will be following the rest of your advise, doing medical microneedling once a months, IR massage, laser, etc. I’m wondering if using laser after this will also make the treatment even better? I’m going to try anyway, don’t think it’s going to hurt. Thanks so much, Penny for all your advise, ideas, you’re my best friend from now on! ❤
I cannot wait!! I am pumped about ur channel and all the research Uve done. I have my pen. Gorge newest drpen got my numbing stuff. Now I just need to get the most important serums and I am ready, Thank u
Hello Penny. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experience. It's precious! I understand it is better not to reuse the cartridges, but this protocol (only lip microneeding) does not include much of the cartridge use. Can I sterilize the cartridge with the alcohol for 2-3 minutes and use it maybe 3-4 times? Thank you.
And it will get worse, whatever you do.. sorry to tell you but did you ever see a woman, 80 years old looking like she's still 45 or so? No, she is an elderly woman. Dont let your age frustrate you; you WILL get an old skin because you are old.. I hope you will get old!! I hope so too, but never saw a 100 year old woman thinking: she must be 50. Wait, whut, 100 years?? :-) No, doesn't happen. If you dont want any wrinkles at all you have to die young and leave a beautiful corps..
hi Penn, could you update your results with what you have seen from your microneedeling, I do get that you use powerful skin care but seeing a comparison of your skin from here to now would be really wonderful to see, or if you could just in general comment on the overall results from your at home CIT needling and cosmetic needling, thank you!
Penny, this is a fantastic video! Thank you for your expert knowledge on all things beautiful skincare! I have a few questions for you. I use Epionce anti-aging lip treatment on my lips before I go to bed each night. Can I continue to use Epionce on the nights I do this treatment on my lips? Also, can I use this pen on my chin, jawline, and other areas of my face, or is there a better device for these larger areas? Thanks again! Truly you are the best skincare expert on UA-cam! So happy I found your channel!
Tranexamic acid (aka cyclokapron) is a medication used in the operating room and emergency hemorrhage situations (including dental surgery) to stop profuse bleeding. It is also given to women who have heavy periods, or who bleed heavy after childbirth, so as to ameliorate the blood loss. Interesting that it is used in this skin care protocol.
Ty sweetie, I'll need to watch this a couple of times to get the routine down. Could u please let me know the videos u have on ur day/night routines? I'm on info overload but I need to get a routine down. Ty again!
If I have sensitive skin with mild rosacea on my cheeks Fitz 1- should I use the retinaldyhyde? I just want to say thank you for doing this. I am learning so much about my skin and I love the science approach!!
Hi Penny. I enjoy your thorough videos with all the details and info you provide! How many needles for the lip lines? 16 or 32? What speed needles and depth for neck and decolletage ? Thank you
I LOVE YOU PENNY!!! 🤗 I'M WITH YOU IN THIS ONE. I'LL BE 39 IN NOVEMBER AND I'M JUST STARTING SKINCARE... LEARNING A LOT FROM YOU. QUESTION, HOW MANY TIMES FOR OPEN PORES WITH DR.PEN & WHAT PRODUCT DO YOU RECOMMEND? THANKS IN ADVANCE 💕
For pores you want to start (if you’re not already) using Niacinamide (vitamin B3). It can really help with pores. You can nano with it or even cosmetically needle (very shallow). I hope that helps! 💜
Luv this video - I plan to start this regimen very soon - my question is how do I incorporate micro needling and HA filler injections - before or after - and how long before or after micro needling
I have rosacea and I am wondering if this will cause it to flair up? Thank for so much detail and information. I feel confident if it’s appropriate for my skin type I could do it on my own. I recently discovered your channel and am so impressed with your content. Thank so much!
Hey there, I am so excited to start this. I have ordered the products now waiting to get started. I would also like to see how you do around the eyes for sagging skin and also between the eyes. Thank you for the help. Can't wait to start.
I really hope you can answer my questions. Please please please! Is it a complete no no to put tretinoin on right after needling. Also can you nano with tretinoin? Lastly do you only recommend vitamin C from Obagi or is there one that is less expensive? I would really appreciate your input! Thank you so much! Just found your videos and I am addicted. 💕😊💕
Great video. I've been microneedling for awhile but wish I had started younger, before the lip lines started, due to my genetics. My grandmother and mother had liplines and I do, too, unfortunately.
Your videos are amazing. You are an amazing teacher. In addition to this protocol would you recommend at home radio frequency and/or laser for the upper lip lines and if yes, which ones. Your advice will set me straight!!
Ok, well part of the problem with the M8 for old folks is you can't see the settings set in silver. I accidentally did almost 2.5 with the tranax 5% on my lips...I hope nothing bad happens. I thought it hurt like heck and had a couple little pin point bleeds. I am just leaving it alone and hopefully will be ok! Not sure what happens when you put that on there deep instead of HA....yikes I will double careful from now on with extra strong glasses.
I love that you are a science geek, it makes you even more special. Thanks to you, my vertical lip lines will soon be departing. 😊
Many thanks

I'm definitely on board. I'm a former smoker and I'm so hoping this helps. I did fillers for awhile but financially couldn't continue. Thanks so much
I am a no-smoker all my life but I've had lip.lines since in my 40's.
So great I bought the Dr Pen on your recommendation I love it Definitely need to spend more time on my upper lips Loving your info 🇨🇦
From where did you buy it ? They keep saying they’re fake on Amazon ? Thanks in advance
I trial so many things that sometimes I have to adjust ♥️
To that end-I’ve actually taken a mid summer break from needling!
@@PENNSMITHSKINCARE I’m so sorry I mistaken your professional title. My apologies!
How are your results. The video is 2yr old...?
I can’t wait to finish my current Retinal so I can try Retivance! Looking beautiful!
Yes!! It is SO good!!
Hi Leah! Would you please add this to my account as a reminder to switch it up from the current Osmosis next time? Thanks sweetness❣️❣️❣️
Judi HeightsTX hi Judi!! 🤗 you got it ✅ xoxo
I cant wait to have my device and try this cool method around my lip lines..so you nailed it again Penny ....
Thank you! 💜
I’m excited for you!
Hi Connie 😊
What are you using to hydrate/moisturize?
Now that you said that (I do the same). Time to STOP that behavior. Thanks!
I am following you just recently and love it! I do have them! So here we go!
Hi ...i just recently found your channel.
(you are awesome!)
i have been doing this
protocol for 2wks...im new to microneedling, so im using this as a break in for my entire face... i have not noticed any line reduction, yet. but, i must say my skin feels amazing... and i am definitely enjoying this deep dive into skincare..
thank-you for sharing all your knowledge...xx
Best stuff to put on the face are really ingested supplements- take the vitamins internally for a few days before treatment
Your skin looks fantastic!
Great information! Definitely adding this to my routine. And I’m waiting for my Dr. Pen X5 to arrive! 🤗
can you send me the link for the device?
Dr. Pen is on sale via their website plus 10% off w/e-mail sign up. Happy New Year, Penny! Thanks for sharing your time, knowledge and training with us. 😊
Thank you for sharing this!! 💜
And Happy New Year to you as well!🎉💕💜
Hello Penny, I am thinking of starting this and was wondering how you feel this protocol worked? Thank you so much for posting such informative videos, have a great day and take care!
LOVE it! Thanks, Penny! Could I use a .25 regular roller? I just got a new one and want to put it to good use! Melasma is a bear! I’m so glad that there is promising protocol b/c honestly, not much works! Thank you for your awesome and informative videos....lip lines are really starting to crop up on me and I dislike them greatly! I can handle crows feet, forehead lines, etc... but lip lines... NO! Xo
Maria, I agree 100%. the lip lines are such an embarrassment.
Thank you so much 🥰
Your cheeks look much more natural and beautiful here. Less is more ;). Thanks for your knowledge!
Thank you :)
Penny, I love you. I have such horrible lip lines. I am going to give this a try. The price of professional lip line filler is over $600.00 where I live. Bless you and your beautiful soul.
🥰 what an incredibly nice comment. I hope you have a great rest of your week!!
I only got them this year (68). Smiling removes them instantly !
What about Botox will it make it disappear
Amazing You Day Spa yes it shortens the effect
Amazing You Day Spa I’d like to know as well!
Kim Pilates I’ve been microneedling with filler for years. You just have to wait a month after having filler injected. And honestly it plumps it up & seems like it makes it last longer. I have researched it & asked many skin professionals & they all agree with what I’m doing.
I have that Deardkin and I really like it, glad I came cross your video, I'm going to use this it will do great for the lip area. Thanks Penny
Penn, I am just now watching this video and planning on starting this protocol. Since it has been about 2 years since you filmed this are you happy with the results from this protocol and if so are you still doing it.
Did you get a reply? I’m wondering the same thing. I’m watching this in 2022.
@@KwikWerk no I never got a reply.
I am wondering if it worked
It does work ☺️ i love needling! I do my 11s.
@@dianeparry5924 but did you do lip lines with success? I started to do my lip lines and it activated something in my system and I got sores. I never have a problem when I needle just my face. As soon as I am healed, I’m going to continue.
Penny please show the protocol using a roller. Thank you, I've learned so much from you⚘
Thank you for demonstrating how you do this. I have a Dr pen and lip lines so I will be trying this myself.
I sure am, but would love to hear your results here cuz this video is 2 years old. Thanks so much!!!
Oh Penny, I can't wait to start!! I have horrible vertical lip lines, I was not a smoker but I used straws. Thanks for sharing. Have a blessed week.
This is perfect for me as I have vertical lines on my upper lip.. I will start this tonight (I am ordering
Tranexamic Acid serum tonight) but I have everything else and will use the HA tonight.. Thank you Penny this is so useful to me.. Love wendy
How did it work for you?
I’ll 100% try it! It makes absolute sense. Thank you, Penn 💕
You have the most amazing blue eyes.
Oh thank you Kass!
Hi Penn do you have an update on the pen and link since its been 3 years ? I just started with lines and just seen this video today . Thanks so much 😊
Thanks Penny! This is so good. I am definitely going to follow your regimen. I’ve ordered the products (except for vitamin c which I already have). I appreciate all the work/research you put in this. Do you think this will also help plump up our lips if we go a bit on them with our pens? --staying at 0.25 or below, that is.
I’m going to try it! Excited!
God bless you and happy new year!💕
I’m so happy I found you, now following. I will be doing this using H.A. will be ordering the other things you used as well. Thank you for sharing all of the tips you have!
Thank you Sandra! I’m so glad you’re here! 💜
So it’s 2022 now. How were the results. Anyone know? Thanks in advance!!!!!
I would have put money on you wearing make up! You look incredible Penn.
Very interested in your pens. This routine seems very do-able and QUICK. ❤❤❤
This is what I'm very interested in
Can this protocol be done all over face?
Thank you.
Yes would love an update!!
Oh I'm so happy I found your channel! Just subscribed 💖
I just received my pen, and can't wait for my products! I'm so frustrated at how quickly age is getting me.
Totally get it Terri!
No, doesn't happen.
I know, so interesting! Oral TA is also being used now for melasma. So cool!
You're such a doll Penn! Thank you for the tips. Amazing as usual :-)
Thank you! That’s so kind!
Hi Penny. I enjoy your thorough videos with all the details and info you provide! How many needles for the lip lines? 16 or 32? What speed needles and depth for neck and decolletage ? Thank you
I LOVE YOU PENNY!!! 🤗
I'M WITH YOU IN THIS ONE.
Thank you so much for this incredible info and being such a good teacher.
Carole Navarro I have a little rosacea and it only temporarily caused a flare up.
Hey there, I am so excited to start this. I have ordered the products now waiting to get started. I would also like to see how you do around the eyes for sagging skin and also between the eyes. Thank you for the help. Can't wait to start.
I’m excited for you! I’ll definitely demo other spots on the face soon 😁💜
6:59 puts Tranex (Tranexamic acid) around mouth and starts the process of micro-needling around mouth.
Bridget Miller I’m going to do it with my retin a I’m sure it would be ok... I hope . Lol
Bridget Miller been told by my dermatologist to never use retinol or retina A after this procedure. Ever.
Great video. I've been microneedling for awhile but wish I had started younger, before the lip lines started, due to my genetics. My grandmother and mother had liplines and I do, too, unfortunately.
Thanks for this information. You have stunning blue eyes. You are beautiful.
Thank you so much!
Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and the nerdy science!!! 🤓💕
