wow, i cannot even imagine how many hours of work goes into making one of these videos. your whole backdrop of furniture and decorations put together in an outdoor space looks amazing! so so professional.
Hi lovely people! So glad you all like this project! For those of you wondering about why I used the actual pages from the book, check out my blog post on the project on mrkate.com where I wrote more about it. I've had the book for ages and never looked at it so I enjoy the art much more now on my coffee table that I see every day and it's more eco friendly to not make photocopies from additional paper. As always, thanks for all your love and comments! Thumbs up so everyone can see! XO - kate
Amazing! Your videos are all amazing! I'm about to redo my room (I'm actually swapping rooms with my little sister and her room is BLANK and WHITE!) so you have given me loads of ideas. I might try doing this to my desk because it is basically the accent of furniture that I'm putting in the room except for an upholstered headboard I'm making. Thank you so much for all of these ideas!
I don't know how I missed this! My sister gave me an old desk and I was looking around for the perfect project to make it match my style. :) I'm in looove!
Woot! I did one a while ago in my Living the Mr. Kate Lifestyle video (on my channel) - but I'm probably due for a new one since I've redecorated a bit since. I'll work on that! Thumbs up if you'd like to see a house tour (well, apartment tour) from me. Thank you for your comment! x - kate
at first glance, in the beginning, it look like marble, soooo not like something you would do, but then I saw it and it was really great :) and your video is so dynamic and well edited, never boring :) great job :)))
came all the way back to find this DIY because im doing one on a Goodwill find. Cannot wait to do mine!! (paint the legs then putting marble contact paper on top) Much love Kate!!
I purchased at a quartet of small wooden chairs sans a table for $20 with the hopes of refurbishing them for resale. I thought decoupage might be the right avenue, but I was unsure of how to pursue such a large venture. Your video has given me great insight into how I can refurbish their 'blah-ness'. I'll send you a photo once I decide upon a pattern. Thanks for this fun, informative post! :) -Dawn P.S. I miss the "Nate Burkess" show! Just saying...lol:)
One of the first few times I see trolls in your comment section. Which is insane because this is one of my personal Favorite DIY's thus far. P.s your style has always been great. 💙
Great idea, the finished product looks awesome! I have the same anathomy book (by Jenő Barcsay, hungarian graphic artist) but I could never tear it apart I love it so much!
LOVE IT! I'm going to do this with my new (to me) coffee table also! You have given me quite a few design ideas, Mr. Kate - my new home is going to look better than I even imagined! Thanks, girl! :)
Good idea. Good job. On the other hand; being a book lover, I hated it when you tore those pages off. I would have made photo copies then used those to decorate. Good idea on the poly to seal the work. Have you done this type of project in a high moisture area like the bath room? Did the poly further yellow the paper?
I've watched this before but now I actually have a reason to use it! I have two side tables that don't match at all. They are kind of ugly definitely boring and this will totally tie them together in such a great way! Thanks so much!! Just gotta find some pages to use now.
Hey! Kate I really like this one. I also want to change my coffee table , it is a glass top with wrought iron stands -a very common one. I hope you could suggest some DIY for the same.
so, im just curious if you can still feel the paper like the lines and collageness of it? or do you need a glass top? how would you clean it?? let me know I like this!
@nickisparkles @beneathyourlove - yes, that's a good answer! i like to 're-define' normal things and make them fun and different. You can read more about the name Mr. Kate in the 'about' section on my website mrkate.com - XX!
Love it! Love that it kinda looks like marble until you actually focus in on it & realize its way cooler than marble... Been thinking about doing a Mod Podge-er using concert ephemera-- tickets, etc. I'd prob make scans of the actual tickets, at least for the "better" ones.
Can you use any paper to decoupage with? Nice job with the table. With over 3,000,000 subscribers you must be doing something right ... Congratulations! Regards from The UK
I'm a newer subscriber, so I apologize for what may be a common question, but why the name Mr Kate? Does it have a meaning behind it or just fun? I've never done a DIY project, but youvtake the "scary" out of it. Thanks!
Wow, this is totally awesome and to think I almost got rid of an Anatomy Artist book just like that. Thank you for sharing and I can hardly wait to re-do my coffee table. However, I believe I will stain my legs not paint them ;)

I thought the coffee table was just beautiful!!!
You might want to try tea to age the paper. It works better. It deepens the color faster.
She wanted a more off-white, not a fully antique look. So coffee is better for that.
This is easily the coolest DIY I've seen you do yet! And I love them all! :D
looking for ideas to spice up our living room and came across this gem 😂 i love it
This is so good, love the idea of dyeing the papers with coffee.

Your tutorials are always amazing. Thank you!!

by using the polycrylic, does it prevent items from sticking to the top of the table?
Love it! Love that it kinda looks like marble until you actually focus in on it & realize its way cooler than marble... Been thinking about doing a Mod Podge-er using concert ephemera-- tickets, etc. I'd prob make scans of the actual tickets, at least for the "better" ones.
