  • The UEFA Euros just ended. But could this be one of the LAST competitions of its kind?
Scientists estimate that by 2050, robots will BEAT humans in football. Is that possible?

The coolest part about competitive robotics is that it’s ultimately humans still doing the competing. Every innovation that brings a team forwards, at least right now, is driven by human hard work and intelligence. I think that’s a lot of what makes soccer so special to watch, too.

I couldn’t agree more! I really enjoyed my time coaching a robotics team for that same reason. The team work and problem solving always made the entire game so exciting

Matter of the fact is no one is going to watch robotic soccer, its the humanity in the game that makes it popular

The reality is that robots one day surpass man in all sports but it doesn't mean humans will stop playing. Sports will be around for a long time. Robot sports as well as human sports.. Xman

Why aren't we making robots and AIs to do jobs humans DON'T like to do?

Thank you for covering a topic that I have been looking forward to for a long time. Are robots competing in any other sports apart from football. I do not think it will be long before some start up in Shenzhen releases a humanoid robot that can beat the world champion at ping pong. I wonder which other sports will fall after that?
Any chance of a similar deep dive on the impact of multimodal LLMs on online poker?

I'm downvoting this video for using the word "soccer." Come on, you're making a comprehensive video explaining technical things, and when you get to the key part, you call it "soccer"? That term doesn't come close to what football is. So, downvote for that. Nice video, but please use "football" to reach a larger audience. You mentioned the US, but if you want your video to appeal beyond the US-especially with references to Messi and football in Spain-using "football" is essential.

What do you mean it doesn't even come close to describing what "football" is? The two terms refer to exactly the same thing depending on whether you are in the US or outside of it.
