In most live versions, it's actually a Gmaj7 with the added 9th and 13th - I always play it this way, sounds so much fuller.

Sh0o7erMCTV He did have a great falsetto but I like that he recognizes his limits and doesn't strain his voice and sound horrible. I hate when musicians do that as they get older. Paul McCartney does it and he sounds terrible anymore to begin with.

I have this CD, it is by far one of the best live recordings I've ever heard. The audio quality is excellent and the balance of the instruments and vocals is perfect. It really captured what it's like to see him in concert, and the audience is LOUD! The CD still runs great too after hundreds of plays! I've also seen him in concert twice, once in 2008 and the last time in 2011 on his 64th birthday and he and his band are one of the two top live performances I've ever seen. The other is Earth, Wind, and Fire.

Y’know, I wonder if anyone else has mentioned this already, but having just seen “Rocketman”-in addition to loving a lot of these songs for decades-has gotten me to thinking about Bernie Taupin. I wonder what it was like being a struggling lyrics writer, hoping you’d just meet a competent composer who would want to turn your ideas into song-and winding up finding a mini pop Mozart who just hit ‘em out of the park again and again, whether they were deep or “silly.” Somehow, I don’t think even winning the lottery would measure up to that experience. I’m not trying to imply that Taupin isn’t gifted in his own right-and clearly Elton loves his work. But still . . . wow.

Hands down favorite Sir Elton John song. Even more than Rocketman and damn you can tell he truly loves performing. He looks so content up there on that piano

This is a GREAT song. Went to see ELTON JOHN in 1973/74? @ the SPECTRUM in PHILLY. My buddy Mark's dad got 2 tickets from his boss I had just bought my first car so we went. It was the First concert we ever went to. ELTON & BILLY JEAN KING were hitting tennis balls out to the audience, promoting the Philadelphia Freedoms tennis team..... Was Great...

Hey, kids, shake it loose together
    The spotlight's hitting something
That's been known to change the weather
We'll kill the fatted calf tonight
    So stick around
    You're gonna hear electric music
    Solid walls of sound
Say, Candy and Ronnie. Have you seen them yet?
Ooh, but they're so spaced out
    B-B-B-Bennie and the Jets
Oh, but they're weird and they're wonderful
    Oh, Bennie. She's really keen
She's got electric boots, a mohair suit
You know I read it in a magazine, oh
    B-B-B-Bennie and the Jets
Hey, kids, plug into the faithless
    Maybe they're blinded
    But Bennie makes them ageless
We shall survive, let us take ourselves along
Where we fight our parents out in the streets
To find who's right and who's wrong
Say, Candy and Ronnie, have you seen them yet?
Ooh, but they're so spaced out
    B-B-B-Bennie and the Jets
Oh, but they're weird and they're wonderful
    Oh, Bennie. She's really keen
She's got electric boots, a mohair suit

As much as this sounds 1 million times better than his performances on AT microphones, EJ is really an SM7 kind of vocalist. Big but perfectly suited to his vocal style.
