At the same time, it can also be used as a backup take-off and landing base for the aircraft carrier formation. . In short, it is an extremely powerful backup aircraft carrier.
"A base for the Marine Corps" -- Yes "To move forward in the aircraft carrier formation" -- Not likely It is designed to operate as a floating military base for military intervention in low-intensity conflicts.
They concentrated the onboard air defense at the aft end of the ship because they think that is the direction that an attack will come from when the ship is running away from a fight. Tell us what the Chinese navy thinks of their chances will be in combat. Well played China.
The reason for the distribution of CIWS in the back is not because how the ship is placed in the fleet formation. It is because it is a LHD that needs to protect also the landing crafts that it is launching in the back closer to the beach.
It seems to me that China changes something for each ship they build. We will know they have found their final form when they build several of them, perhaps simultanously.
You make a claim that the QE class are never out of port yet they both have made deployments, HMS Prince Of Wales in the Atlantic, Baltic, Arctic and the Mediterranean. HMS Queen Elizabeth made several Atlantic crossings and completed a global deployment to the South China Sea in 2021.
If you tell the US marine corp that their America Class can carry F35C instead of F35B, which allows to carry more fuel and weapons, they will throw F35B to rubbish bin in less than one second. How did China come up with the idea that putting electromagnetic catapults in a LHD ship? Genius design.
Different EM catapult system design, or better design. The US uses high Voltage AC power for their catapults which requires a lot of power generation at one time. That's why they can only be installed on Nuclear power carriers. China uses mid voltage DC power with huge capacitors which uses less electrical power at one time, thus can be installed on conventional powered ships such as the 003 aircraft carrier and this 076 LHD ship.
That’s right, they tested two different 6th generation fighter and one AWACS(KJ3000) and one drone WZ-9 and one drone gj-11and one amphibious landing craft in same day
The PLAN needs 4 Supercarriers and at least 8 of these type 076 class ships. That would give them 3-4 carriers available at anyone time. Considering the USN only had 4-5 modern carriers that can operate F-35's, USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), USS George Washington (CVN-73), USS Gerald R Ford and (CVN-78), and USS America (LHA-6), USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) is unknown, potentially can, potentially cannot, that would give the PLAN an advantage as the USN cannot concentrate all of its available carriers in a single theatre.
Does the choice of names (after provinces) and the big commissioning event suggest that the PLAN consider this vessel of equal importance to the carriers? The CIWS is impressive. The only problem with having so many overlapping systems is deciding when to shoot which system at what target.
I thought about the placement of the point AD weapon systems, but I think the thinking is that if a a missile is approaching from the front, then the ship will be doing manuvers anyways, so each side has at least 2 CWIS (one in the middle and 1 the rear) and it will have 2 missile launchers along with chaf counter measures on each side. So at pretty the ship can always turn to make it face at leas 2x of each system.
No It WILL N O T have ...... Manned-aircraft, but instead rotary and UnManned aircraft!! Here's why I think so..... Look at video at time ( 9:40 ), Right Behind and little left corner of rear island is a hole in the deck with railing around it.... I'll get to that in a moment. (And I Bet there is a similar shaped hole on the port side...... [ ~ 11:53 ......RIGHT Behind the blue topped shed!!! ]) If You look closely on the deck where there look like two (2) people on the flight deck...one close to the edge and another Right In The MIDDLE of the FD (flight deck), there are NO Arrestor Wires!! So you will Not be landing J-15Ts on that ship, but instead drone aircraft. Why??? Again, look at that Hole I mention...It LOOKS like the shape of a "Barrier System" that USN uses on Their A/C (aircraft carrier) FD! It is used in case of some sort of emergency of the plane, where it will "Crash into the Barrier"...a series of vertical straps held UP by the craning of the barrier. This would make More sense, because you Don't want to keep "Crashing" an a-c (aircraft) into a barrier all the time. But for a drone, it COULD be fixed ~rapidly~ (??). As for the USN barrier system, sure it would damage the a-c, but the pilot would survive with assistance of FD crews. So I am thinking the catapult will be for ....... DRONES!!! Not manned a-c. USN Veteran 20+ years experience.
A ship like the Type 76 LHD (or new Italian LHD Trieste) might be what Brazil needs to replace the São Paulo, as a light CATOBAR installation on a 40,000-ton LHD would allow the Brazilian Navy to use domestic combat aircraft like the Embraer EMB 314 Super Tucano or the proposed Saab JAS 39 "Sea" Gripen. STOVL And a LHD would provide Brazil amphibious capability, ideally they would build at least two, preferably three, ensuring (unlike the QEs, the RN needed 3 of them) that one would always be at sea.
PLA is known for taking "quick, small steps" in the development of its weapons, including warships. If Captain Zhang were correct that the Type O76 is intended to carry and launch the J-15, then where is the angled flight deck with the second catapult? Will that only come with the next iteration of the Chinese assault carrier - the Type O77?
It was a dark day for the folks in Sichuan, they say over there, because this 076 is not a full nuclear powered aircraft carrier, according to recent posts in some Chinese social media.

I am not a China fanboy. My country is one of the country that have overlapping claim in S.C.S. But I have to admit I am agreeing with Type 076 design as an amphibious/drone carrier. I guarantee you US will also develop their own LHD/ Drone carrier after this.
HOW is that even comparable? the french one is very small ship around 20000 tons and very old system and only can carry helicopters, and it is not a carrier, it is a old LHD, 076 is close to 50000 ton carrier with EMC catapult, with all sorts of jets and big drones and landing boats, it is even larger than french only carrier Charles de Gaulle
Far beyond the two frenches. 076 has a electric-magnetic catapult, latest technology for launching both drones and fixed-wing aircrafts. Furthermore, even British HMS doesn't have this kind of catapults, so it has much shorter operation range the 076.

I really like this guy. I wonder what personality type he is. He's very analytical and honest. You can get great analysis when you have Fe suppressed by Ti like an INTP, which I am. That's a STOVL flight deck design on something of that tonnage, which is a bad idea. The British invented angled-out flight decks. There should be an angled-out flight deck and a CATONAR design. A slightly smaller USS John F. Kennedy or USS Kitty Hawk (last CV carriers) design is what it should have been. They put the worst possible flight deck they could on those things STOVL. Even if they didn't go CATOBAR, they could have gone STOBAR. There's probably too much Collective narcissism from the West for them to put abstract reasoning and critical thinking into play and understand when they possibly could have. When people see those comments from them, they need to understand what it is. That's actually Collective narcissism.
076 is a copy of the QE? Only if it breaks down all the time. The Chinese must be pretty damn confident with their EMALS tech to have them on board 2 classes of ships in quick succession.
I don't understand why they don't use an angled deck design if they will operate fixed wing aircraft ? This is asking for catastrophic accidents if they fail to catch the wire.
@ex0duzz The angled design creates a separate runway for catching planes. You can catch the plane and move it off to the side and reset for the next plane. Where are you going to park the plane so it's out of the way? This is more like a helicopter/VTOL ship than a true aircraft carrier conducting continuous operations.

ATC: oh, the ILS is currently out, but don't worry, i just ordered the stern 1130 to lock onto you, you can follow the radar warning receiver indication for your approach
The 076 amphibious assault ship can provide a base for the Marine Corps to move forward in the aircraft carrier formation, and can also eject unmanned early warning aircraft, unmanned attack aircraft, and even unmanned tankers. At the same time, it can also be used as a backup take-off and landing base for the aircraft carrier formation. . In short, it is an extremely powerful backup aircraft carrier.
"A base for the Marine Corps" -- Yes
"To move forward in the aircraft carrier formation" -- Not likely
It is designed to operate as a floating military base for military intervention in low-intensity conflicts.
😄 that Royal Navy remark.
Likely operate smaller J35 than heavy J15T
They concentrated the onboard air defense at the aft end of the ship because they think that is the direction that an attack will come from when the ship is running away from a fight. Tell us what the Chinese navy thinks of their chances will be in combat. Well played China.

it might work with a carrier group to make up for sortie rate and provide additional utility by sharing workload of the carrier.
simply add a catapult on a LHA can be a simple but beneficial idea instead of design a STVOL plane
especially when fleet are short for carriers
This is a Christmas gift to the West, and don't forget the two sixth-generation fighter jets🎄🎄🎄🎄
Actually, this time China is reportedly displaying three aircraft, with one more in the west that hasn't been shown, and they are not the KJ-3000.😱

The reason for the distribution of CIWS in the back is not because how the ship is placed in the fleet formation. It is because it is a LHD that needs to protect also the landing crafts that it is launching in the back closer to the beach.
Proud of the Chinese military
That is one fine looking ship. Could the fighter jets in the air wing be "mother ships" for the unmanned aircraft. Great stuff ENI!
It seems to me that China changes something for each ship they build. We will know they have found their final form when they build several of them, perhaps simultanously.
Only when it's something particularly new. When they're confident of something, even a new type like the Type 055, they build 8 of them at a go.
Wow, what an exciting time for the Chinese military! Two gen 6 stealth fighters test-flighted the other day and now this!
They will stop building 075 now they have 076 for drones warfare.

@@marcusaureliusss China already has 6th generation engines, and two days ago there was a demonstration of a combustion engine

They will build more type075 obviously. Just like how theyre making type 052Ds and type 055, and type 054A and type 054B simultaneously
The PLAN needs 4 Supercarriers and at least 8 of these type 076 class ships. That would give them 3-4 carriers available at anyone time. Considering the USN only had 4-5 modern carriers that can operate F-35's, USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72), USS George Washington (CVN-73), USS Gerald R Ford and (CVN-78), and USS America (LHA-6),
USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) is unknown, potentially can, potentially cannot, that would give the PLAN an advantage as the USN cannot concentrate all of its available carriers in a single theatre.

The 2 port-side 1130s have enough angle to fire forward.
It will always be defended by 054 052d and 055s nearby.
If You look closely on the deck where there look like two (2) people on the flight deck...one close to the edge and another Right In The MIDDLE of the FD (flight deck), there are NO Arrestor Wires!!

You are right

巴西在南美洲足够强大了,没有竞争对手,没有必要在军队投入太多预算吧!除非巴西想走上世界舞台
PLA is known for taking "quick, small steps" in the development of its weapons, including warships. If Captain Zhang were correct that the Type O76 is intended to carry and launch the J-15, then where is the angled flight deck with the second catapult? Will that only come with the next iteration of the Chinese assault carrier - the Type O77?
It was a dark day for the folks in Sichuan, they say over there, because this 076 is not a full nuclear powered aircraft carrier, according to recent posts in some Chinese social media.
It is also noteworthy that Sichuan received a lot of greetings especially from neighbor provinces. Their chances to have nuclear AC remain 😂🎉
they don't know why? Sichuan was supporting Boxilai and president Xi remembered it.
我想要补充的是,这艘LHD搭载的坦克和装甲车也是无人的,珠海航展已经展示了这一点。

The innovation of the British in the integrated power system is quite impressive, and they will serve as a valuable asset for Chinese naval vessels.

I am not a China fanboy. My country is one of the country that have overlapping claim in S.C.S. But I have to admit I am agreeing with Type 076 design as an amphibious/drone carrier. I guarantee you US will also develop their own LHD/ Drone carrier after this.
13:20 Aw hell naw we found the individual who said that the Su-57 was just a reskinned Su-35. 😢
What happened to the Ka-52 deal?

Is this ship comparable to the two assault carriers that France delivered to Egypt (after Russia wasn't able to take delivery)?
2024 is busy in china military world. new biggest aircraft carriers in china history, biggest landing ships, new J15T, J35, new 6th generations prototype, et.

Soon the blue Navy will be ranked based on how many operational electric-magnetic catapults they have
076 is a copy of the QE? Only if it breaks down all the time.
The Chinese must be pretty damn confident with their EMALS tech to have them on board 2 classes of ships in quick succession.
PLA have already tested on groubd many yeara ago before putting it on the aurcraft carrier. PLA dobt show you, doesnt mean its not working 😂
중국의 목표는 결코 미국을 능가하는 것이 아니라 더 나은 중국이 되는 것이다.
I don't understand why they don't use an angled deck design if they will operate fixed wing aircraft ? This is asking for catastrophic accidents if they fail to catch the wire.
You are under the impression that planes will return to the carrier.
If they miss they just power through and take off and try again like what everyone else does for flattops.
076 is China’s 4th aircraft carrier
Amphibious attach ship built with Taiwan, in mind.
Launch usually means it's in water. However, I guess for the China fans out there, this is close enough.
Why no angled deck design though?
See the shed above? It's an electromagnetic ejection trajectory, so it's a straight deck
