In SSB4 there should be a part in story where you play as Lucas and Claus is controlled by a player 2 or CPU and in the end of the level a cutscene with Porky taking Claus away happens and a few levels later the game goes back to Lucas you fight Masked Man as a boss.

And all the while he kept looking for more things to do, more stuff to destroy, etc. etc...
He's my fav fictional villain. His greed and pride is what finally got to him after all the horrible things he did all the while being a somewhat funny bastard. He's litterally just the fat kid next door with issues and a quite relatable one at that, you're either that kid or you know somebody like him). It only makes sense that the abuse and corruption led him to become a monster.

Well, you're overlooking that the fighters in Smash are not even supposed to be the actual characters, just trophies of them. Plus, he isn't dead. The dragon brought him back.
