blameitonjorge can you do a top 30 rare movies you know like obscure action comdey horror kids film on vhs that have yet to be on DVD and only 1 or 2 vhs releases and never on vhs officaly but on bootleg tapes
All. The. Time. It seems half the time I spend on the internet is to check if the things I saw on TV as a child actually happened. Witch's Night Out is one of them. The evil book from The Care Bears Movie is another. The Disney Channel used to play whatever they could get their hands on and as a result, I saw a lot of weird stuff.
Yup. It usually happens when it's an obscure show or movie you saw as a little kid. Were those weird after school specials in the 80's and early 90's on CBS real? Yes, unfortunately. LOL.
1979’s “The Halloween That Almost Wasn’t” or otherwise called “The Night Dracula Saved the World” 1992 rerelease, should be on this list. It also won an Emmy, and starred Judd Hirsch as Dracula, Mariette Hartley as the witch, and Henry Gibson as Igor.
I kept wondering when that would make this list! travesty that it didn't! I always busted up laughing when he turned into a bat and kept repeating, teeny tiny bat
Halloween is my favorite holiday because it's the one time when dressing up and walking around in costume is socially acceptable, while being much cheaper than a convention.
"The Wiches" with Anjelica Huston as the head witch was a really fun Halloween movie done i think in 1990. It was one of those obscure but fun Halloween movies.
The Halloween Tree is one of those things I remember watching as a kid but could not figure out what it was decades later. Just vague scenes and fleeting glimpses. I remember renting it from Blockbuster even, I loved it so much. This video solidified that memory and gave me back a part of my childhood. Thank you.
same, The Halloween Tree stayed in my subconscious for years, right alongside The Last Halloween, a CBS special that was aired once and preserved on VHS. give it a watch, it's kinda interesting, Richard Mull is in it.
My father recorded Disney's Halloween Treat on VHS for me. I used to watch it several times a year, not just on Halloween. Hans Conried as The Mirror was my favourite.
I wonder why the Garfield and Winnie the Pooh specials aren't shown on TV anymore. Also I wish you could have talked about The Devil and Daniel Mouse which was also a 70's Canadian special. Thanks for making this and uploading!
EvilMariobot The reason that you don’t see Winnie-the-Pooh here in the US on tv, and it’s been missing from being listed on any streaming service such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, etc is due to licensing issues. It’s saddening that because of this, many cartoon series have disappeared and long forgotten. If anyone should upload these specific titles to youtube, they will be removed for copyright violations. Even if that means a title going into extinction. I keep holidays specials lists that I revisit/update. Disney has been working on their own streaming service and recently pulled a ton of content from Amazon. But even before that, their was no Winnie-the-Pooh titles except for the few owned by multiple other license holders/distributors.
daveheel it’s not a ratings issue. It’s a licensing issue. Winnie-the-Pooh used to be very popular and in the UK it is extremely popular. But license holders keep a tight grip on it. Disney especially
Blameitonjorge video: talks about Frankenweenie. UA-cam: shows ad about keeping dogs safer at home. Me: “Man, I love how hilarious coincidences can be!”
I own Ernest Scared Stupid. It’s always been a favorite. Fun Fact: the heads used for some of the trolls were recycled/repurposed from the klowns in Killer Klowns from Outer Space.
indeed, Scared Stupid is great and easily one of the top 3 Ernest movies overall, some people can think it looks cheesy, but they put some real effort into it, especially with Trantor the Troll.
its that time again where this gets recommended because halloween is around the corner. This is still a great video though so Im happy to rewatch this.
Will Vinton's Claymation Comedy Of Horror, Raggedy Ann and Andy The Pumpkin Who Couldn't Smile, Eureeka's Castle It Came From Under The Bed, Tiny Toon's Night Ghoulery, The original 13 Ghosts, Vincent Price's Once Upon A Midnight Scary
There’s a few other I remember from growing up in the 90: I recall watching Frankenweenie, Disney’s Halloween Treat, but I also watched Rageddy Ann and Andy and the Pumpkin Who Couldn’t Smile also one with Casper the Friendly Ghost. Casper wanted to Trick or Treat and dressed as a boy but the other ghosts said he needed to be scary. The other plotline was of the orphan kids who Casper befriends. They try to trick or treat but no one will give them candy because they’re poor. Casper tried to help them but the other ghosts make it worse by playing pranks. There was also the one from The Better or for Worse Comics: It starts by the family going to the fair. They try to get the dog Farly to win the competition and the mom is trying to sell her jams. But the dog gets out of control and ruins everything. It’s Halloween night and the older boy is trick or treating but he bullies are messing with him. The dog had gone missing earlier in the day and finds the boy in trouble and defends him- making the bullies run away. The little sister is trick or treating with her dad. Anyone else remember these?
The mention of Ernest brought back a bizarre memory. Many many moons ago, I worked at Tower Video in Sacramento. Our Assistant Manager was awesome with a fun and twisted sense of humor. He was responsible for checking in the new stock, which was actually fairly involved and gave him access to the main computer (VERY basic system - DOS - as you can imagine). We had an employee named Ernest who got a job at Macy's, so he added "Ernest Goes to Macy's" to the movie list. The best one, however, was "The Care Bears Maul Some Campers and Get Shot." It was in the computer for about 6 months before some kid noticed it on the checkout screen, and cried, "Mommy, they shot the Care Bears!" Needless to say, it disappeared from our roster that very night. ;-) Good times. Seriously. We had a blast at that job.
I can think of a couple of others that could fit on this list: (1) Disney DTV Monster Hits--a Halloween-themed selection of their "DTV" music videos. Songs included "Thriller", "Bad Moon Rising", "Monster Mash", "That Old Black Magic", "Ghostbusters", and "Sweet Dreams", to name a few. It only aired once, that I know of, and they only did one Halloween special (in comparison to the two Valentine's specials they did); (2) the Ted E. Bear Halloween program. I don't remember the exact title, but it had the main character, Ted E. Bear, thwarting an attempted invasion by Count Dracula and his monster army with their greatest weakness: laughter. I would've brought up the Ghostbusters Halloween special, but the very nature of that series makes ALL of it Halloween programming. There were also some Saturday morning specials/films such as The Trouble With Miss Switch (on ABC?) and something else involving Dr. Frankenstein (though done in regular animation rather than stop motion) that would fit here, too. Lastly, I just want to add that, in addition to the talents mentioned, the late Gilda Radner--also an SNL alum--was the voice of the witch in Witch's Night Out.
Thanks for remembering *_The Halloween Tree_* by Ray Bradbury. It's one of my favorites. The book version is even better. The kids have 4 miniadventures in the movie, but there are 7 in the book.
Love all your videos, man. Would you be willing to ever do a list of Disney, Pixar or any kids movie company scenes that were too dark and removed before the official release?
Yes that special rocks, my mother had recorded it for us when we were little. It is still a tradition every halloween to watch it the pumpkin who couldn't smile, witches night out, halloween is grinch night, and the worst witch. My niece and nephews all love them to.
Theirs something about the voice actors of the 70s and 80s that really sold these kinda moments. I love the voice actors of today, but theirs a certain quality they had that I haven't seen in recent works. Maybe it's the not-as-high-quality sound that makes the low, eerie voices even more eerie?
Yay for you mentioning the Halloween Tree!!! There was another Disney special called DTV that had music videos of things like 'Thriller', 'Evil Woman', and 'Somebody's Watching Me' set to Disney cartoon moments. The made for television films Mr. Boogedy and The Bride of Boogedy were also amazing with the sequel being better than and more frightening than the first!
_Thank you_ for saying, "was broadcast" instead of "broadcasted" which is used all of the time by illiterates; both online and in the news. Man, that one always grates on my nerves. I was really excited to see that the original "Frankenweenie" was going to be available on the CGI version's DVD. Loved it when I first saw it 30 something years ago. =)
Halloween Tree was released on DVD a while back. I live in Canada too and I remember the special being on Teletoon every year until the mid-2000's. I bought my copy from Wal-Mart. That DVD is still on their website, so you still might find it in stores or online if you're really looking for it. Happy Hunting ;)
Oh my god I remember Ernest scared stupid! I was terrified of the movie when I was 6 so much that I never finished it, and my family made fun of me for it. Maybe this Halloween, I'll watch it again...
You unlocked a very VERY DEEP HIDDEN MEMORY with that Grinch video. I remember having nightmares as a kid where the grinch would slide along my walls... I can’t believe I forgot this is where those nightmares came from. I literally thought I dreamt this movie up.
Ernest Scared Stupid was one of my favorite films as a child, my cousin and I would watch and rewatch it all year long. Sorry about you being sick, glad you're feeling better though. :)
I remember Witch’s Night Out as part of an annual mini marathon of Halloween specials on CBC IN canada. they used to air it, the disney headless horseman cartoon, a Nelvana short about a rock star who sells his soul to the Devil (played by Chris Wiggins of 60s Marvel cartoons, Swiss Family Robinson, and Friday The 13th The Series), and a cartoon about a group of woodland animals who get abducted by aliens to play an intergalactic game of baseball ( the forest creatures eventually ended up in a series called The Racoons.
Great video as always! I don't know if you knew this, but Mad Monster Party has a hand drawn prequel called Mad Mad Mad Monsters, also made by Rankin-Bass. I can't comment on the quality though because I haven't seen it or the original. I will have to check them both out this Halloween.
I watched the Grinch Halloween special when I was maybe 7 and never saw anything about it. Years later I come to find this video and now know that many, many more people had actually known about it! Makes me so happy!
Boris Karloff wasn't The Grinch in the Halloween one because he sadly died in 1969. Instead, they used the voice of Captain Hook from the 1953 Disney Peter Pan movie.
Tbh, I remembered watching Ernest Scared Stupid when I was a kid. Sadly, couldn't remember the name of the film, but I remember parts when the scary fugly trolls turning kids into dolls.
once cable became the normal for most households the main networks stopped doing the holiday specials like they used to do , it was always a big deal when TV specials came on after being built up on abc or nbc or cbs in the 70es oh man good times
I actually own Mad Monster Party after seeing this video. It's now one of my favorites and my mom and I make sure to watch it every Halloween. Thank you
last time I remember it ever airing they were only airing the sequel to it....course that was a few years ago so I don't know if they're airing it anymore ^^;
You missed The Worst Witch. It was a little gem that used to play in heavy rotation on HBO. Not only did Tim Curry play the Grand High Wizard, Charlotte Ray (Mrs. Garrett on Facts of Life) played the headmistress of the school as well as her evil twin sister, and Diana Rigg, the Queen of Thorns herself, played the strict teacher of the main little witch.
I tried watching this a few years ago, but it was so cringe I couldn’t finish it! But my sister and I watched this over and over as kids. I do still love Tim Curry’s part singing Anything Can Happen on Halloween.
I still find it weird how most of the characters had different voice actors in Revenge of Jimmy. Jimmy in particular sounded much younger than he did in the first one.
Always a pleasure to watch a blameitonjorge video, and even moreso when I hear Let's Read and Mr. Davis, and That Creepy Reading (?) narrating the script with him.
I always looked forward to "Grinch Night" during those annual Dr. Seuss marathons on Cartoon Network back in the day, and I'm glad it's part of my DVD collection today. Both it and "The Grinch Grinches the Cat in the Hat" were a touch darker than typical Seussian fare, but I enjoyed "Grinch Night" way more for two simple reasons. One: there's just something fun about the sentence, "Eukariah wanted to go to the euphemism," that makes me incredibly giddy. Two: as you mentioned, that awesome nightmare sequence in the Paraphanalia Wagon! I'm a bit of a Seuss buff, so I was thrown for a loop when characters and backgrounds from across many of the "Good Doctor's" books popped up here for the express purpose of creating the most exquisite jumpscares. (For example, the bit where Eukariah has a Mexican stand-off with the weird bird-thing on a lonely, dimly-lit street is taken right out of "Oh the Thinks You Can Think." What would YOU do if you met a Jibboo?). I really ought to make an effort to watch that every year, maybe even once a month.
Whoa whoa, I completely forgot Witches Night Out. You just exploded my mind, haven't seen that since it was recorded off TV onto a copy on an old VHS tape. 80s style.
Actually Mad Monster Party isn't technically a Halloween special since it was originally released in March of 1967. It is a great movie though, and I adore Rankin/Bass.
I knew Disney's Halloween Treat would make the list! I was 3 years old when I first saw that and I could never shake the image out of my head when I saw those skeletons sweeping the floor with their legs and clashing their teeth! Haha That same night, I had a nightmare of being chased by skeletons.

"Halloween is Grinch Night" also won an Emmy as Best Animated Special.
The only thing about *Halloween is Grinch Night* that it could’ve improved on is its level of recognition.
Plus also dr. Sues favorite film
You ever get that feeling when you feel that you've watched something before but aren't sure if it was real or not?

Yes! One of my favorites since I was a kid. I’m 36 now and I still watch it every year on UA-cam.
I love this one, I'm surprised there hasn't been a Pixar like show done of it.
Good call!
I believe it also had the late Jack Riley (Voice of Stu Pickles on 'Rugrats') as the Werewolf.
Omg! You bought back memories bringing that up. Havent seen that in 31 YEARS!!
Halloween is my favorite holiday because it's the one time when dressing up and walking around in costume is socially acceptable, while being much cheaper than a convention.
Nya, here in addition to Halloween we have carnival, which lasts almost a month. I think you would like ^^
Couldn't have said it better myself.

Both of your channels and absolute gems on UA-cam to come across.
Witch's Night Out set off my nostalgia in a huge way. I loved that one as a kid!

Yeah Tim got fired because of Frankenweenie & he's hired it direct the Reboot I guess Disney will do anything for a quick buck.

@John Chrysostom and how would you know this?
You could be used for liable & slander by Disney!
"The Wiches" with Anjelica Huston as the head witch was a really fun Halloween movie done i think in 1990. It was one of those obscure but fun Halloween movies.
The remake comes out soon
The Witches was always one of my favorites. Ronald Dahl wrote some phenomenal stories.
"If it airs on Cartoon network be sure to give it a watch" hahhh, if it aint Teen Titans Go then CN don't give a damn about airing it.
Yeah CN need to take a break for Teen Titans Go! & on Halloween air The Halloween Tree some time.
The Halloween Tree is one of those things I remember watching as a kid but could not figure out what it was decades later. Just vague scenes and fleeting glimpses.

Yeah, why don't they show Garfield's Halloween Adventure again?
probably has to do with ratings.
I like the garfield Halloween

You unlocked a very VERY DEEP HIDDEN MEMORY with that Grinch video. I remember having nightmares as a kid where the grinch would slide along my walls... I can’t believe I forgot this is where those nightmares came from. I literally thought I dreamt this movie up.
FUN FACT: Leonard Nimoy also voice acted Xehanort from the Kingdom Hearts series, but unfortunately has passed way, R.I.P
How is that a FUN fact when you end it on such a sour note?
Mr. Moundshroud Awfully Looks Like Mr. Burns
He'll live long and prosper in our memories.
@@feralcyborggaming1531 now it's just a fact
Ernest Scared Stupid was one of my favorite films as a child, my cousin and I would watch and rewatch it all year long.
Sorry about you being sick, glad you're feeling better though. :)
I WAS JUST THINKING WHEN YOU WOULD UPLOAD
Disney's Hallowe'en Treat was our favorite, excellent choice!
How dare them dislike you deserve better
I saw six of these seven. I remember almost all of those six because I recorded them on VHS and re-watched them annually. Thanks! :)
Deadtime Stories will always be my underrated classic
I watched the Grinch Halloween special when I was maybe 7 and never saw anything about it. Years later I come to find this video and now know that many, many more people had actually known about it! Makes me so happy!
Boris Karloff wasn't The Grinch in the Halloween one because he sadly died in 1969. Instead, they used the voice of Captain Hook from the 1953 Disney Peter Pan movie.
Nothing against Hans Conried , but a Grinch that sounds like Snidely Whiplash doesn't sound too menacing.
Ernest is a national hero.
I remember that Halloween special so well. Truly amazing content.
JORGE!! YOU DIDNT PUT "MUSIC BY: SPIN MASTER MUGEN" IN THE CREDITS!!! I AM OFFENDED!!!!!!>:o
But I still love ya, my baby. Dope video, as always!!!!;3
SpinMasterMugen oy you
Tbh, I remembered watching Ernest Scared Stupid when I was a kid. Sadly, couldn't remember the name of the film, but I remember parts when the scary fugly trolls turning kids into dolls.
They need to air Underfist Halloween Bash
For animated nightmare acid trips, you should check out the early Fleischer shorts. They're often filled to the brim with that sort of thing...
Who knew the Grinch could be so Ominous
I suspected it...something about his smile just seems..." off " somehow.
I did.
once cable became the normal for most households the main networks stopped doing the holiday specials like they used to do , it was always a big deal when TV specials came on after being built up on abc or nbc or cbs in the 70es oh man good times
My favorite Halloween special as a kid was scary godmother halloween spooktacular
I actually own Mad Monster Party after seeing this video. It's now one of my favorites and my mom and I make sure to watch it every Halloween. Thank you
Time to get sp00ky
Biggie Cheese mr boomtastic
Why do I see you all the time?
Biggie Cheese but it cant be
We're up all night to get spooky.
Omg, thank you! I’ve been looking for “Halloween Tree” for 20 years. I was beginning to think it didn’t actually exist.
My Favourite Halloween Special is The Treehouse of Horror series
There possibility episode 666 of the Simpson Halloween spacial is going to air it this Halloween
Witches Night Out is my childhood! Thank you for including it!!!!!!
does anyone remember "Scary Godmother"?
Rachel Squishies Yes! I loved Scary Godmother one of my favorite Halloween specials
Me lol
My kids Love that show. It didn't play last year.😢
last time I remember it ever airing they were only airing the sequel to it....course that was a few years ago so I don't know if they're airing it anymore ^^;
yeah do they still play it every year on cartoon network?
THE HALLOWEEN TREE!!! I've been trying to remember my childhood Halloween favorite for years thank you!!!
Mr. Moundshroud Awfully Looks Like Mr. Burns
*_"You put your glasses back on and face the facts!"_*
OMG you remember that lmao
Amazing as always!!!
Everything Rankin and Bass has ever done is charming, delightful, and weird.
Why no Scary Godmother Halloween Spooktacular and Revenge of Jimmy?
I haven't watched that in ages.
Because they're not forgotten, they are still played on tv every year
I still find it weird how most of the characters had different voice actors in Revenge of Jimmy. Jimmy in particular sounded much younger than he did in the first one.
Red and Black Cat I remember that being the cringiest possible thing on TV back in the day, and I didn't even know what cringey meant...
Why do people remember them so fondly anyways? Even as a kid I remember finding them really boring and ugly to look at
Always a pleasure to watch a blameitonjorge video, and even moreso when I hear Let's Read and Mr. Davis, and That Creepy Reading (?) narrating the script with him.
who ready for Halloween
Tj Nickles im going as a banana so you already know it gon b lit asf
I've been ready since September
Lucy Price I've been ready since November of last year
Meeee! My favorite time or the year!
@@sandyvonkitty Mine too. I plan and make my costume as early as July.
2:05 I didn't think auto tune existed until the mid 90s but that's what it sounds like there.
I think that's vocoder
Don't expect CN to ever air The Halloween Tree anytime soon, I'll take time slots away from their precious TTG.
and sadly CN hasn't changed. TTG is still hogging all the slots alongside Thundercats Roar
THANK YOU JORGE, MY GREAT HALLOWEEN GRINCH NIGHT PEOPLE FINALLY KNOW ABOUT IT. IVE ALWAYS LOVED IT
My mom has the vhs tape of the Halloween tree, its also one of my favorite animated Halloween movies.
