Don't forget Perch! My husband gets me Lots of Perch for my Freezer! Yum! He got quite a bit this past summer. Now he is King Salmon Fishing! He got a 25 pounder 2 days ago and made some Salmon jerky and Put some Fillets in the freezer as well! He Has been fishing at Oak Orchard for 6 years. He fishes Both in the stream and at the Tributary on the wall.
Perch are great as well, I tend to concentrate more on panfish and meat fishihng during ice season. Great for beer battering, fish tacos, gumbo, and more. And the salmon up there are delicious if you prepare them right.
Thanks for the correction. I just thought it was since the tackle shop there was talking about the increased flows due to the annual draining of the Canal
With the salmon in Lake Ontario tributaries, there is often some controversy over whether the fish are actually eating, biting out of aggression, or just being hooked. The first salmon I hooked and landed was quite a strike, there was a “thunk” in my line, and my orange sucker spawn fly was down its throat, unfortunately the camera didn’t get a good shot of this.
There is no point of having nice disk drag if your not gunna use it. You can tighten it a couple clicks. If you palm it use your palm on the back so that the handle can still freely rotate
Excellent, good luck. I’m going to fish the Erie PA tribs again, considered NY again but unfortunately PA just put new rules in on traveling to other states due to covid
Not in the least hahaha although I was rather fascinated that people starting getting chippy with me because I was legitimately hooking and playing the fish out with technique, instead of just ripping them in by the sides with braid and 2 oz weights
After receiving multiple comments, I am well aware that I was incorrect about the Erie Canal/ Waterport Dam part

Ahh thank you very much, great to have you. I subbed to you as well!
That is actually not the Erie Canal drainage but an overflow spillway from Lake Alice. The canal dumps in some miles upstream in Medina.
