The Brazilians have incorporated Jujitsu as their own style, and others have become naturalized Japanese citizens (after a very hard process). They even brew Saki in California.
But I can see your point, Kimmy did COMMERCIALIZE themes of Japanese culture, especially the Kabuki dancing and that this wasn't a life style custom she adopted to enrich herself. (hobby).
