  • How to make a simple guide to keep the blade vertical in the homemade jigsaw table. With just two small bearings and some pieces of scrap, this is a very easy to make yet very useful guide that will help us to make perfect cuts in a small woodworking shop with our jigsaw table. A great improvement for one of my best homemade tools.

    Sergio, yours are the real tutorials, the others here use fully equipped workshops to show us how they build "home made" jigs :-). Well done.

      The sign of a true Craftsman or a shop maker, is a crafter who can make his own tools. That's why the 1st true test of a blacksmith is when he can forge his own set of tools. Or even if he needs a very specific tool for manufacturing or something else for just for one product he can make his own piece. I still need think learn this.

    Another great and cheap DIY Solution. As a safety feature i would attach an emergency stop button which disrupts the power to the jigsaw.

    Thanx for video. I have just this day finished my jigsaw table. I used bearings similar to you but put them on a bridge across the width of the table so I can cut longer lengths of wood. Also I have added an adjustable guide fence. I have yet to try this out, as I have just finished and it has gone midnight!

    • @mr.b.w.3146
      @mr.b.w.3146 7 років тому

      I have just been given a longer cutting blade and that should fit nicely through the bearings, I also will try freehand and using the fence guide to see which is best. I think like yours I will try to change the bearing support so I have two cutting options. Thanks for that idea.

    You have thought that out beautifully, Sergio...well done senor. And it looks a very professional looking table. Don't you just love plywood for neatness alone? The fact that sometimes things don't work as they should, at times, makes you improve on ideas....hence the rollerskating bearings.

    Hello friend, i always liked your videos. I have a question regarding the jigsaw table, why is that when i try to cut a piece of wood (without blade guide) my work piece jumps and goes out of control? I am amateur woodworker from Sri Lanka.please teach me. Thank you so much.

  • @lukewadel3675
    @lukewadel3675 10 місяців тому

    Thank you for your great videos and channel! You are a great teacher and an ingenious woodworker. Most of my blades are only about 3 inches or 4 inches long, and I would like to make a guide for them. But the 3 inch ones are drawn completely into the shoe of the jigsaw on the upstroke. If I used very small bearings that could catch the blade at the bottom of the downstroke (to correct any sideways bending), would that be better than no guide at all? I wish you a great day!

  • @niklar55

    Instead of plastic plugs, it would be better to use short pieces of aluminium rod, and drill a little off centre, then they would be adjustable, for greater precision.

  • @patrickstratton4630
    @patrickstratton4630 7 років тому

    I followed your ingenious guide but.changed the design slightly so that the bearings were across the board on a bridge but in no time at all the back of the blade cut through the soft metal let alone the wood

  • @FarmerFpv
    @FarmerFpv 4 роки тому

    Fantastic build/tutorial mate, I built one similar but with 3 bearing supports, 1 behind the blade to keep friction down and the other 2 on the sides. It gets a lot of force pushed on the blade, you should consider using 3 bearings for the blade supports. It operates much smoother and much more precise. Also used a narrower blade to get tighter radius cuts. I'm sure yours is perfect I'm just really picky about precision, lol.

    Sergio, this is a great idea! I plan to make a similar saw, using my Sawzall. My main problem has been figuring out how to make a blade guide. Have you figured out how to adjust for different kerfs of different blades? Also, have you figured out how to adjust for cutting wood that is thicker?
