Reliving The War takes a look at the WWF vs WCW / Raw vs Nitro Monday Night Wars that took place in during the mid to late 90's and early 2000's. With WWF Raw airing on the USA Network and WCW Nitro broadcasting live on TNT at the same time, fans had to choose which program they would watch, and this series takes a look at what was on each channel while comparing every match, promo and segment of the Monday Night Wars.
A huge match gets booked for WCW Nitro this week; Sting vs Bret Hart. Eric Bischoff continues to have problems with The Four Horsemen and even Ric's son Reid gets in on the action, Billy Kidman defends the cruiserweight championship against Psychosis, and Eddie Guerrero reveals a new faction to WCW audiences - The Latino World Order.
On Raw this week, we see Vince McMahon in his hospital bed. The chairman gets a few visitors while he tries to heal up his injured ankle. X-Pac faces D’Lo Brown for the European title, Vader has his last match of this current WWF run, and the main event features "The Peoples Champion" The Rock taking on The Undertaker.

Real talk Judy was a true G..
Haa! 4:40
Hearing it in reverse made me laugh and almost choke on a cookie i was eating.
😄👍
This mufugg said the wolfpack is back causing mass destruction and I nearly marked out lmao. Friggin genius.
Scott Steiner telling Judy Bagwell that she’s not his mother and to stay in her lane lest she catch a beating is exactly the kind of promo material that defined this era of wrestling.
Reminds when Brian Pillman threatened to piss on the ring during his ECW debut.
People speaks about the chairshots heard around the world
But that metal bedpan bonk is one of the highest entertaining moment In wrestling history
Truly magnificent
It was beautiful.
It's truly amazing just how spoiled we wrestling fans were at the height of the war... This was such a memorable week for both shows
I had no idea Mr Socko and the LWO are from the same night
Did you forget the loss? The money?
We're more spoiled now having this series. I didn't have a DVR back then and your sure to miss something flipping back and forth on Mondays. With this we get it all and a lot better humor than the king was saying back then
My brother is 6 yrs older than me, was always like WCW sucks, and they did in his era.... By the attitude era though the war coulda went either way
Nothing like the BONK of a bed pan over Vince's head when Steve Austin finally gets him. The Mankind segment is an all time great moment.
edit: The Feel the BAAAAAANG gets funnier every week. Never stop.
So does the "Shut Up" bit.....loved this week's especially, that was awesome lol.
Love that Davey Boy Smith trading card with him using a Chin Lock!
I never tire of hearing about the chinlock from our Davey.
Jirard the Completionist is also a fan of Davey Boy Chinlocks? Hell yeah!
Hell yeah!
That series of Vinny Mack hospital scenes are absolutely iconic! Those live in my head, rent free, until I'm done on this earth 😂
Say what you will about Vince but he amazing at being the straight man.
@@PhenomsServant4 yeah dude is able to stay in character no matter what. Dude tore his quad and straight faced showed no sign of being in pain, then walked his ass to a limo while refusing help. Contrast that with his son (who vince has regarded as a disappointment on the pat mcafee podcast) who cried and curled up into a ball in the middle of the ring. Dude could keep a straight face through anything.
That bedpan sound will get me every time 😂
@@Ragan31687 literally makes me laugh hard and obnoxiously lmao
That’s a fact man me too lol!!!
That hospital sequence has to be one of the highlights of the McMahon-Austin rivalry.
One of the highlights of the entire Attitude Era in my opinion.
"I'll take it from here nurse."
"Austin-McMahon', I'd say maybe pro wrestling in the color TV age. Truly hilarious and awesome at the same time.
I remembered it so well. Once Mankind came in with the clown, I immediately knew what was coming.
That bedpan sound will always get me to bust out laughing 😂
Alot of regular TV shows struggle to make 100 episodes, the fact that this gem is at 154 and going strong means the world to many of us. Thanks for all your hard work, passion and integrity to help us RTW. You're the true Jam Up Guy WB.
D’lo and Henry flinching when the Undertaker looks at them is pretty amazing! 😂
They were great together!
Judy Bagwell got a bigger pop than Glacier without the year worth of promos before her debut.
Damn, that’s the one match VinnieRu should have booked in WCW2000: Glacier vs Judy
Having watched every episode of RTW, I’m hard pressed to think of a more random feud than Slaughter and Snow.
Every week I look forward to seeing Bret Hart tell Road Dogg to 'shut up'.
That will never get old.
This was one of the best ever.
Same with Steve Blackman, scorpio, Alex wright intros lol & how can I forget the “bang” guy 😅
This and Disco Fever for me
Not me. It needs too end NOW!
"That's it. Raw wins Reliving The War this week." **credits roll** 🤣
According to Mick Foley's first book, none of the stuff between him and Vince was discussed before it happened. They thought it would come off better if Mick just did whatever he wanted and Vince was forced to react to it, and I think they were right.
“Damnit, leave!” And “Oh I’ll take it from here nurse.” Are two of the funniest moments in the history of wrestling. I laugh just thinking about them
You help so many people with this series, thank you
I love the culture we've made with the various jokes through this awesome thursday series. If you get the Bret "Shut Up" clip from this vid and watch it with absolutely no context of Hogans proverbs, or the outlaws promo's, then it would be insane.
Keep it up 👍
Wrestling Bios has the jam
I find it to be more of a jelly with a hint of leg drop at the end.
"Damnit leave" so simple but so fuggin brilliant from VKM.
This is the only channel on UA-cam where I want to know when new videos are posted. Every video on this channel is a must watch. Thank you for the hard work
I've been watching this channel since it was about a year old. I loved all the bios and went back and watched every episode he had out on this channel at the time. This channel was awesome and it has only gotten better. This content is why I look forward to Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday.
I finally caught up! It has been a hell of a ride the last 6 months catching up on this series.
I told my cousin to jump on this show but it might to far now😮
@@thomassalas5191 it's never too late to start! Tell your cousin to not be deprived, BROTHER!
@Rob Houbeck idk. He's pro wwf. He didn't like WCW back than an he doesn't like Aew now!
@thomassalas5191 I started about a month ago, and I'm catching up faster than I want to. Soon I'll be waiting for the next episode to drop just like everyone else. If you haven't gotten him to start yet, doooo it!
As a guy who was born after the nitro vs raw war I’m so glad you did this series so I can see what it was like
That "Judy Bagwell future WCW World Champion" line is far too close to something that could have happened in the dying days of WCW. I legitimately laughed then thought "wait did they do that?"
She could have convincingly beat Russo for sure
her presence has been made into a joke by the WWF revisionist history (and on some level rightfully so) but Judy cut some tremendous promos for just being a wrestler's mom. I audibly said "THANK YOU" when you started praising her lol
Pro Wrestling seemed so much more personal back when I was younger and it was because of the Monday Night War! Thank you Wrestling Bios!
I worked backstage at RAW on this one. 😁 One of the greatest days of my life. 🥰
I worked backstage at wcw this night great show! Lol
@@salcarrero3393 Did they let you into the arena? They didn't let us in until after the WCW show. Lame. All I got to see was Rey Mysterio and Chris Jericho leaving and David Flair talking to someone. 😫
Always look forward to Reliving The War every week. Thanks for all the work you put into this series, Wrestling Bios.
I'd honestly forgotten that Edge and Christian started this way. I remember Edge being doing solo matches but the turn into the Brood completely escapes my mid forties brain so it's nice to see all of it again.
Brood had an amazing ring entrance... that's something wwf had always been superior to WCW with all their wrestlers
Weed wine dinner and reliving the war on Thursdays really needed this thank YOU
Oh hell just watching Judy Bagwell speak without audio it’s obvious she can cut a better promo then a lot of the boys. 😂
I hope when we get to January 4, 1999, he starts the last segment off with WCW, and when he gets to the point of Schiavone telling us that Mick Foley is going to win, he just abruptly cuts away from talking about WCW and jumped to the Mankind/Rock match.
Imagine yelling Bang out in 1998, and becoming a recurring moment in an online show in 2023. 😅
I hope to God this dude sees himself on here😂
@@rebeccaburr3387that dudes gotta be almost 60. He looks close to 30 back then
Well this is it, I've finally caught up with Reliving the War after starting a few months ago when I was told about the series by a friend.
Every video liked, watched & can't stop telling others about the channel. Also just place an order for some t-shirts in celebration of finally catching up.
Easily the best channel on UA-cam right now & a huge inspiration to make anything I work on great.
Thanks for Reliving the War, here's hoping once we get to the end that it's only a new beginning.
"You wanna war? You're gonna get one!" Ultimate Thursday night sound
I can't believe that we're in the October 1998 timeline on reliving the war this series is awesome Great Video as always.
The audible sigh of resignation when trying to translate a Warrior promo 😂. Snort snort grunt grunt indeed.
You know its going to be a good episode when we get a chinlock in the first minute!
I've always considered this episode of RAW as the absolute peak of the Attitude Era. Specifically, the exact moment that bedpan makes contact with Vince's head
I loved all the hype for Halloween Havoc as I was going to Vegas that weekend to get married and was hoping to score tickets to the PPV. I did end up getting tix and meeting a ton of the WCW roster in the hotel. Epic weekend.
That bedshot sound made that ENTIRE episode of Raw the winner this week, as far as I'm concerned. The whole angle of that spot was one of the most entertaining moments of the War. CLANG!!!
Monday nights were so much fun at this time.
Love these recap videos, takes me right back to being 14yrs old. 👍
A new RTW Episode this is what I definitely need I got a upcoming powerlifting competition coming up and wrestling bios I definitely got the jam and I’m always ready for horseman business 💪🏻💪🏻
Good luck!!
Chin lock the competition beforehand, surefire win. Good luck fellow Bio's watcher.
Use a Savio Vega Nerve Pinch.
@@WrestlingBios and good job my dude with this episode once again you are the true jam up guy
@@roccojamison89gooker51 or a David boy smith chin lock
dude the shenmue cut when you did the shut up part this week was just awesome made me want to play the original game on dreamcast asap thank you for these videos man i look forward to these every time you release them
Same! Nostalgia from wrestling and also from one of my all time favourite ever games!!
This Thursday Just Got a Helluva alot better!! ThankYou Wrestling Bios for everything and all the hard work you do putting these amazing nostalgic videos together 🙌🏻 🙌🏻
29:05 Al Snow's springboard side kick is an absolute work of art!! Too freaking good!!
I hope I’m not the only one that upon seeing the “Bang” cut at 4:38 thought of the Howard Dean scream.
BYAAAAAAAHHHHH
Best part of the week is finally here with Relieving the War on Wrestling Bios which is my favorite wrestling channel on UA-cam! I have been watching since day one and every Thursday head to head episode is a highlight of my entire week as well as when the PPV's get posted
Debut of mr.socko and dr.
Austin 😂
So apparently the LWO originally was supposed to be Konnans faction but they liked him in the Wolfpack so they gave it to Eddie in retrospect it would've made more sense for K Dogg to have the lwo
Especially since Konann was the leader for the luchadores in WCW. I know he listened to what Eddie said but bischoff wasn't giving anyone a chance
Both shows were good, but the McMahon segments in the hospital were iconic in the era. Once again, a WCW main event that sounded amazing on paper, but ended up as a bait-&-switch to build to a Pay-per-View instead.
Love the Wolfpac lyrics being incorporated into the script 5:50 😂😂😂
SC: "Oh, I'll take it from here, nurse."
VM: "No, noo arrrggghhh "Deadpan humour/ Bedpan humour
New week, but one thing that stays the same is the hype for a new episode. Thanks fam
that little bit of YTP about 4 1/2 minutes in is just *chefs kiss*
Oh, I've been waiting for this one: Mr. Socko's debut & Bedpan McMahon
"Your mom is a big DDP mark so shes hoping to feel the BANGGGG!"
-WrestlingBios (2023)
Big Van Vader was one of the absolute best heels in the history of wrestling (any franchise) ..I am surprised that his last RAW match was in October '98 ..although he did beat up Heath Slater and get a victory some years later on RAW. Sad to see him go. He was a legend 🖖
I love the WCW mid card bbq with Mike tenay
Same.
@@WrestlingBios BANGGG gets me every time
@@lucafalsetto That dude looks like Tommy Dreamer and Disco Inferno fused
Hogan v Warrior at Halloween Havoc is gonna be EXPLOSIVE!
My favorite match of all time literally my favorite match of all time that fireball was epic leopard
Soo this is my dad's all time favorite segment. He absolutely loves hearing the bed pan hitting off Vince's head. Stone Cold was his favorite wrestler too. So much so I think I was named after him (Austin). Reason why I say this is I was born in July of 99 which is 9 months after this segment aired. I like to think this segment here is why I exist today 😂 thanks stone cold 💀😂
Maybe he's in a Strip Club,
"he ain't in no Strip Club he's been throwed out every Strip Club in The Country" - Kevin Nash
Years from the 5 second pose
It was definently one of the best classic episodes from Raw this week, it been mentioned olenty of times slready, but that BOINK from the bedpan was hilarious lmao
Welcome to Thursday Afternoon Jericho (also known as Reliving the War") - the best weekly show about wrestling on the Internet.
Great work, as always! You had me rolling when you called the guy handing a note to Chyna "that no good son of a bitch" for no reason. It was so random haha. Also, A+ stuff to the Shenmue "shut up" segment.
Absolute top notch 100% accurate commentary on the Hogan-Warrior mirror show. To me, this incident is what I remember most out of the entire angle, even more than the HH ‘match’ which is saying a lot
I met Val Venis today working at an AZ dispo, funny to have that happen on a reliving the war Thursday.
THE BED PAN! 😂 so happy you showed it in all its glory 😂😂😂
Best series on UA-cam! Or television for that matter! Thank you for another great episode Wresting Bios!
I know people are prone to hyperbole when it comes to things like this, but that Austin-McMahon hospital sketch is one of the funniest comedy bits in all of TV history. It's funny every time. That "Clang" is just fantastic.
This is the earliest I've ever caught an episode LETSSSGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
WCW had so much missed potential in their undercard
Imagine if you took WCW’s cruiserweights and just tacked them on to WWFs roster.
24:44 Correction, the school Magic Johnson went to is Michigan State University, which is in East Lansing, Michigan. I'm from Detroit and just wanted to make this tiny correction, although in my head that's the name of the school now lol!
By the way, the sell job from Kanyon on that spear was outstanding
Watching Reliving The War has become a staple of my Friday morning after my gym session. The amount of detail gone in to the series (and other videos on the channel) is second to non. Keep up the awesome work fella!!
The bedpan shot was great but Vince's selling afterwards in his undies was just as funny.
Vince getting twatted across the head will always make me laugh, no matter what.
New Wrestling Bios shirt, the "New Wood Order"
David look at Reed like "aw man hes already passed me"
The intros being updated every week alone makes this one of, if not the best biography channel alone on the wars. I wish I was rich so I could finance the entire thing.
I love what you’ve been doing with the Bret Hart “shut up” stuff… but the Shenmue reference in this one. Love it! I totally forgot about that game. Keep up the great work 👏🏼
The birth of Mr Socko and Bedpan McMahon who ain't got the Jam, gentlemen, fasten your seatbelts and start your engines.😂😂😂
That was an all time classic Raw is War one i remember vividly as a kid
thank you for uploading these episodes weekly. always something i look forward to
Iconic Raw that went against a Nitro that was iconic for not good reasons
1st Wrestling Bios is the absolute best channel on UA-cam...bar none.
2nd...this is also a post to see if my handle changed correctly.
😀👍
I was just desperately searching for episode 155 and following and then realised Dang! from now on I have to wait for coming Thursdays either 😱
27:52 that spear was nasty
Judy Bagwell is legend. Comedy was great this week.
Absolute bangers for RAW and Nitro this week!
Its still criminal we never got a big wolfpac vs hollywood wargames match.
Holy chinlock!!! Im all caught up on the series 🎉...ty wrestling bios❤what a fun ride so far🎉..... looking fwd to seeing this war through😊Live Mankind Live!!!!!
34:14 Oh Reid Flair. That bowl cut aside, rather sad to see him here knowing his tragic fate to come in 2013.
4:33
Gonna start saving these in the comments….love em
Future tag champs in the thumbnail. Amazing to think of what would be true in wrestling 4 years from this episode
I swear, this Bret hart shaddap bit just gets better every week. Props for the shenmue choice. I don’t know you do it.
The Shenmue-themed "Shut-up!" gag! 🤣😍
