Come on everyone. Be honest. No one… and I mean NO ONE…in our congregations can hear the difference between a boutique amp with a vintage pedalboard setup and even the cheapest multieffects unit when its in the midst of the overall mix (which is probably too loud and mixed poorly anyway.)

I'm 45 years old. I caried pedals, amps, cabs for too many years. My back hurts, my arms hurt, life hurts. Having my helix floor, even if it's a heavy unit is still less effort than before.

I'm 74, about a month ago I tripped over the rats nest of wires and cables on my analog 'board and nearly killed myself. My wife said get rid of that thing so I purchased a Pod Go and have not looked back. It seems every bit as capable (if not more so) than the trad 'board, is much neater and weighs far less. Playing through a Katana MkII 100w 1x12. The times, they are a-changin'. BTW, this channel, and Justin Chan, are tops in this genre. Many thanks!

@@HeyWorshipLeader Well, there were a few new concepts to learn. One was the connections to an amp, 4cable or Pod amp out to amp return (which I'm using), do you need the effects loop, bypass IR's and cab and so on. It did get quite complex to me. The amps and effects have adjustable parameters that I'm not familiar with like sag, ripple and so on. Your tutorials made the difference though. It took a while for me to understand that several parameters can be controlled with one footswitch! That's fantastic. So there is a learning curve, but worth every second. I'm using a '13 Gretsch 6120 and a '99 G&L ASAT Classic semi-hollow for worship and they sound great!

I’m a bass player and absolutely love my HX Stomp for my amp and effects needs, love it! I’m not a church musician but I’ve def played venues which don’t allow amps, including cafes and small bars, work which we wouldn’t get with a bunch of amps. More and more venues are going that way, and we could complain and whinge all day or just adapt and love the journey!
Love your content, thanks for the April Fool fun 😂

Im in my late 50's i jumped on the modeling platform with the line 6 HX stomp in 2006 and sold all my pedals. I have upgraded to the Helix several years ago. Now im building another analog board because i love the tones of the new amp sims and can still go direct into the house board , Cheers love your channel!!

I hear you, but... So I started on the big red bean when I was a teen and doing the youth group/garage band thing with my buddies. I stuck with the POD for years, nay decades (went from the POD to the flextone III). I had a JCM800 for a brief few years, so I know the difference between vintage tube head on a half stack (amazing). But all that time, I didn't have pedals, and that brings me to my main point. I never understood wet/dry signal and how each pedal is supposed to affect the signal until I went away from my line6 world and built my first pedal board.
All that to say, there's definitely value in having the basic pedals so you know what all those settings in the line6 modelers is supposed to do.

Regarding the Quad Cortex: YES!!! You gotta give it a try! Depending on your workflow this might open a new world for you! The user interface makes working with it so much easier. The biggest pro compared to the Kemper (I have both) is that the QC allows multiple (even more than two) amps in serial or parallel signal chains. You'll be surprised!

I played Easter morning and my buddy who uses a big ol tube amp thought that I had ditched the digital and went back and was blown away with the tone. I'm very happy with my HX stomp with analog drives setup. Also the retro reel is amazing! I found it the other week while updating my stomp. Happy playing!

I know what people say when they talk about the "amp in the room" sound and they're not actually talking about the amp, they're talking about the dynamics of a guitar cab. There's a dynamic range in what a 2x12 or a 4x12 cab can do, but tone wise and all the rest modelers are basically exactly the same. I have my HX Stomp going into a clean amp and played through the cab I get the same dynamic range and the "in the room" feel. I put my helix through a 1500W PA speaker and it moves a lot of air too.

I appreciate your HX Stomp tips like adding the ‘Retro Reel’. I play mostly at home at lower volumes and I’m always looking for settings for a ‘fuller, analog like’ sound and feel like I get with my attenuated tube amps.

I’ve been a hx user since the bean days I love everything about the effects and what they do. I recently changed to a quad cortex and I gotta say. It’s amazing I haven’t bought a single pedal since the cloud is amazing so yes you should get one it’s like an upgrade to what you have already and by that I mean touch screen captures etc.

I think the point about hands on interaction is that you can look down and see all your settings without any menu dives at all and adjust the knobs immediately. When I had the HX Stomp my main problem was that I wouldn’t always remember what my presets did when I would come back to use them later. And I would need to spend ample time preparing my presets way ahead of time to get through the set.
I’m now using the UA Ruby, Lion, or Dream depending on the setlist/event. I run them at the end of my pedalboard and I definitely prefer this setup over the HX for what I would call hands on capability. The HX stuff does sound incredible and is still amazing to me.

I have been really debating on going eith a line6 product first step into digital I wanted something to replace a analog pedalboard. I have my eyes set on the pod go for obvious pedalboard attributes. Would that be a good step also I heard you need to run a buffer before the line6 pod go is this still true?

    • @HeyWorshipLeader
      @HeyWorshipLeader  2 місяці тому +1

The Pod Go is definitely a really good option. I’ve never had to run a buffer before it so I don’t know where that’s coming from. I have a video coming out tomorrow about my favorite things to do with it lately.

Also, about the first point. I'm no where near a church in my life (no offence of course, different people have different beliefs) I play metal I just really enjoy your content. I split the signal in my Helix, I use a direct amp capture of a Rectifier in my Tonex and split the signal in my Helix, one side goes to my power amp and Mesa cab, the other one goes to Foh with an IR. So you can have both. I have been considering a pedalboard with like a HX Stomp and some pedals because pedals are fun. But I can't do what I do now with an analoge pedalboard.

Though I kind of get that hands on interaction criticism. For rehearsals, where that problem comes up more often, I built a pedalboard centered around an HX stomp for amp sounds and all the rest is pedals and it kind of made things easier. I know with the touch sensitive switches it's pretty easy to access single effects on the Helix but still I need to pay attention to the knobs, while with pedals it's more intuitive and fast. I would never use that board live since it has obviously many failure points, but when writing or working through songs it absolutely made my life easier.

I don’t play churches. My gigs mostly consist of music based venues/halls and a lotta clubs. I own an HX effects for situations that require an amp and Helix LT for others. I love both and so does my back. I completely disagree with all the complaints you mentioned. Sounds like laziness to be honest. You cannot just buy a modeler and go play a show. It takes time to tweak. I’m still learning. Which btw thanks for the retro reel tip cuz that’s really gonna help..
