    If you have mostly hard floors with a couple area rugs, the dustbin of the v12 slim is more than enough. Only go for the others if you have more carpet, pet hair, or larger house.

      Agree - been testing v12 vs v15 in my large home and for 90% hardwood floors v12 is fine just have to empty it a lot. You can also really feel the extra weight.

    i ended up going with the V15 got it for 200 off regular price......paid 799 ( canadian ) 580 ( US ) . tried them all out at the Dyson store and was very impressed with the V15 the most...thx for your reviews and your advice to me....cheers from Canada

    Excellent video, great comparison and tests! I think the best option for me is V12, there are no carpets in my house and it seems that its power is enough for the usual cleaning of hard floors. The push button switch and the fact that it's much lighter are big advantages for me.

      Excellent choice! I'd go with the V12 if I had no carpet.

    According to Dysons website, the V15 detect absolute has a HEPA rated filter, same as the Gen5 detect

      You are correct. Only differences is the light blue filters on both the V15 Absolute and Gen5 have more filtration ability down to 1 Micron particle size.

      The v12 detect slim absolute also has Hepa and the far better vac.

    Thank you for this detailed review. One thing that has not been mentioned on all the reviews I watched is that the added extra soft padding like the Outsize above the hand grip and the more ergonomic handle. Do they translate into less fatigue to the hand after vacuuming a period of time with floor vacuuming or handheld?
    I really wish Dyson would incorporate the laser into the Digital Motor Head which has the least cleaning maintance requirement when it comes to long pet hair vs the new Soft Roller that would take me half an hours each time I vacuum to the point that we would only use it in none pet traffic areas only which totally defeats it's purpose for our needs.

    I don't understand something in this comparison...
    You found out that the Gen 5 has less air flow and vacuums less thoroughly than the v15, and this time, after the first vacuuming of the gen 5 after previously using the v15, I had a full container of carpets which I vacuum every 4 days, and there was garbage as if I hadn't vacuumed it for a week. So it turns out that Gen 5 collects more pollutants than v15...
    Moreover, the sound produced by the Gen 5 is more pleasant to the ear than the high-pitched sound produced by the V15.

    Just received my V12 absolute slim from bf sale from Walmart shipped from Dyson. It came with the newer fluffy optic head with brighter laser and blue HEPA filter. The only downside to this vacuum is the lack of built in dust attachment and the battery life is just barely enough to run on our vinyl flooring and rug. I get about 30mins on auto mode. Mine did NOT come with two batteries, lightsaber crevice tool or under-appliance/elbow attachment.

      Just like the Digital Motorhead was upgraded with Anti-Hair tangle brush first only seen on the V15 release, Dyson is now including it on all the current models. No surprise if Dyson will upgrade all the future lower models with the same light blue higher efficient air filter and brighter laser Soft Roller. This will cut down inventory storage and manufacturing cost for them while benefiting the customer.

    Hello. I was wondering if the test results are displayed correctly for the Run Time on carpets. For the Auto mode v12 has 27:31 and the V15 17:23. Isn't it the other way around? Thank you!

      I didn't mention in the video.the V12.ran Langer because it doesn't increase suction pm carpet.while the V15 and Gen5.does so these were better than the V12 at debris pick up. Therefore I said the Gen5.was.the best factoring in cleaning performance

    I really hope you compare the v15 detect absolute. It has a lot of the upgrades thr gen5 has. Including the blue hepa filter. I’m wondering what the real drawbacks or since it’s such a big price difference.

    • @Jeo-What
      @Jeo-What Рік тому

      Based on all the reviews I saw the only real difference between the V15 and V15 Absolute it only the included finer air filter and everything else is just more attachments on the Absolute model so I am not sure it is worth making a video for it or not.

      I ended up buying the v15 absolute detect. I had a hard time deciding between that and the gen5 but from what I could tell the only differences were the on/off button vs trigger , the gen 5 is more powerful(which tests show it doesn't make much of a difference) and the better laser on the head. I could be wrong but they both come with the fluffy optic head now so they may even be the same laser. Either way, I overspent on the holidays and went with the cheaper of the two lol Im 100% satisfied with my purchase@@Jeo-What

      @@jamesa8225 I ended up the opposite direction. I exchanged the V15 Detect Total Clean Extra with the GEN5 Defect at Costco due to the discount during the Boxing week that makes only ~$120.00 difference between the two units. With side by side comparison, I am surprised that the GEN5's motor pitch was lower so is easier to my sensitive hearing. I also find the power button, the longer ergonomically shaped handle, longer battery battery weight distribution and the soft hand rest pad design together provided a lot less fatigue and strain to my hand on a regular 15~25min vacuuming routine that included using both floor tools and the build-in dusting & crevice tool even though the motor is ~200g heavier. The convenience of build-in craves top into the wand provides much improved reachable area and confidence. The unit can stand firm now when the Hair Crew Tool or other heavier handheld attachment is connected due to the longer battery design. The total watt hour are about the same but the GEN5 is operating at 36V vs 25.2V so all the power tools like the original Digital Motorbar Head, Soft Roller, Hair Screw, LEDLight Crevice tool & Low Reach Adapter forV7-V15 will no longer work with Gen5's electrical connection; however, the Gen5 power attachments are more powerful due to the new 36V motor especially the Digital Motorbar it vibrates at much stronger rate and suction that I only need to keep the gate fully opened to get the same job done. I am not surprised that Dyson decided to change the voltage as there are so many knock off third-party tools out there flooding the market. I will be looking forward to get the new LED light craves tool and Low Reach adopter for the Gen5 when they become available.

      the next generation Dysons (V10, V11, V15, Gen5) are hard to push on carpet if you fully close the gates. The best setting for me is the auto with the gates halfway open. But you can still feel the friction.

    Doesn’t look like it vacuumed out all of the coffee grounds.

    • @CordlessVacuumGuide
      @CordlessVacuumGuide  Рік тому

      The clips you saw is the first pass, it got everything in the succeeding passes (like five or six). Also, some of it are stains during the early days of testing cordless vacuums where I would rub the coffee grounds on the carpet.
      Not picking up everything in the initial passes is an issue with the newer Dyson brush roll since it doesn't have the same seal as the older V8 nozzle. But I understand why Dyson made the change - to improve the seal on carpet.
