But it's also what allows is a piece of a larger puzzle, one of the parts that let a server crash and come back up while keeping you in the exact same spot, second part needed the rep layer split though. Anyways what this also meant is if something went wrong eith your character and locked up your account, you would no longer be able to join the game. 3.18 literally locked out a good quarter, if not way more, of the player base from even launching the game. CIG is making a good move in leaving 3.23 up as a just-in-case.

For launch day, the servers are so stable that it's uncanny! There are some issues with quantum jumps delivering you off target and ship spawns are a bit wonky, but things are way smoother than I ever anticipated. And that includes two worm hole jumps
While getting Pyro is very neat, it was not the most important game changing feature. Jump Points and Sever Meshing are what needs to be talked about. This is the first jump point, which means the next one will be that much easier to implement. Dynamic server meshing will make this game feel alive, but normal server meshing makes it playable finally.
3.24.3 isn't the most stable version of the game, this build is broken, the fps server don't go higher than 5 or 6 compare to 20 to 30 on 4.0 preview build.
Pyro 4.0 has alot of bugs but nothing new with that. If it wasn’t for the backers this would have never arrived. I was so impressed with server mesh and Pyro I got a Polaris. We love you Chris Roberts, your a dreamer and in spite of the setbacks, you role hard. All the negative talk fades away.
I played almost all Day and i can say: the performance and stability is so much better than before. There are some Bugs related to server meshing but those are minor and dont disrubt the gameplay to much. The biggest Blocker right now is the Hangars in NEW BABBAGE. If you start the Game DO NOT set your Home to new Babbage. Other than that its a quite enjoyable experience.
They have stated that 1.0 (whenever the is) will wipe. I think their intention is not to wipe again while in an alpha state. Not sure that'll happen though. 1.0 is very far off.

Great video! I would argue that 4.0 is waaaay more stable than 3.24. Think of 3.24 as an old Prius that is missing its propulsion battery. 3.24 is built with a server meshing backend but without the mesh, so it's hobbled and dying without being able to delegate all its resources. Like the Prius, it doesn't have the power to survive on its own single engine (one server), while 4.0 has TEN servers running each 500-person shard. While 4.0 preview is buggy, it is the way forward since progression will be based on this branch, not 3.x.
Perhaps, but progress starts as of today. any mission you complete will in preview will count in the 'live live' version which will just be a hot fix/small patch version of this one without any wipe or reset, and the 3.24.3 will then be turned off.
Dont spend money. Dont buy ships etc. They claim that all things can be earned in game. Give them no more money and make them put their code where their mouths are.

A new hotfix is out with a fix to greatly reduce near planet quantum travel issues- CIG really are pulling it all together. I've had the best time i can remember as my shard (CIG tech built on multiple servers) had 500 players so when out doing missions etc there were lots of players about. NPCs were active too. Woohoo!
Calling this a catch is disingenuous. They kept the prior patch up incase this one had major stability issues so people could play thru the holiday either way. 4.0 is running very well and I recommend all to give it a try.

4.0 was not so much "released" to live as it was allowed to exist in live. It's so buggy nothing works as expected 100% of the time, though I'm mostly talking about missions and common QoL things we took for granted in 3.24.3. It wouldn't be so bad if things I do in 3.24 carried over into 4.0 but it won't so there's no point playing until they come out with more fixes. To those who enjoy 4.0 preview for what it is,I hope you never lose millions of credits to a bug.

don't let none of that fancy shit fool you. the game is even less functional than before, and it wasn't even 24 hours since the update. everything is janky or completely broken. I already got 30k, and it even failed to recover the server. Now my character is stuck in a limbo. Hangars are broken, everything is slow and buggy. No matter how many times you give this game the benefit of the doubt - it fails in every single way.
You know how we know this is a lie? Because the game doesn't 30k anymore and they have 10 servers with multiple on standby, so once you leave the server authority area after a recovery you will no longer be in the area with the error. What's likely is that you have connection issues causing problems or you're still playing on 3.24.3.
They could have gone to full Live with this patch. It’s working better than 3.24.x a few weeks ago and that was on live. The only problems I’m seeing are the mission markers not showing up, asteroid base doors not opening and can’t qt to seraphim because orbital markers are taking you the wrong way. None of which are blockers, just annoying. Most people just want to grind rep and earn money during the Holiday break. Full live release would have been fine.

Plus 4.0 feels like a real game. AI works amazing and seeing players everywhere is awesome and makes the universe feel lived in.
I wouldn't worry about progress being wiped when the game is fully released. All thw current player base will be dead before then.

Ensure that you have an actual game package, and not just a ship. That could be why you can't enter the Persistent Universe.

Why? All ships are available to purchase with in game credits. The game itself is $15.

@@orbitalpotato9940 Huh the game is not $15, its around $45. And if you want you can spend extra $20-30 are for Squadron 42 which is single player game and not yet available, although supposedly "feature complete".
