One thing to note is that she is correct in saying you can save a lot of money in the Bahamas if you stay away from the larger resorts and ship ports, but safety is an issue and something you need to be mindful of away from the bigger properties.
We have stayed on Eleuthera three times. It is a quiet and charming island. There are some restaurants but no real nightlife. The reason to go is for the spectacular pink sand beaches which you can often have almost completely to yourself. You can rent a simple villa for around $200 a night and make your own meals. There are a number of places where you can snorkel off the beach without hiring a boat. But getting there is kind of pricey and you have to rent one of their ancient cars to get around, which runs around $80-$90 a day. I think crime is more of a problem in the larger cities of the Bahamas.
Y’all the buses on Barbados are WILD!! $1, ride as long as you want/need…. they drive fast, are decorated like Cuban taxis, blaring some Reggae/Calypso/Ska fusion, & they never fully stop for people you just have to commit & jump on 😂 IT WAS WONDERFUL - the best part of the whole trip!
Love your videos - gives me ideas more of where I could go if I had double the budget. I have always budget travelled to the Caribbean but spent about half or less than those amounts from eastern Canada. Prices have gone up everywhere but usually spent about $1200 for 15 days including my flight and All inclusive - that has now gone up until about $1700 in April or May. Your tips though are very universal and so true. May onwards is always much cheaper. I have rented local apts in Jamaica which can be cheap like you mentioned for $20 to $70 a night.
❤❤❤❤ I appreciate your videos !! Very well done 😊 I’m hoping to start travelling myself and hopefully sharing my experience with others, I will definitely look back on these videos and give my feedback on the places you suggested !! Thanks so much 😊
I just came from Roatan Honduras and it was amazing!!!! You get way more than you think for your money! I'll definitely going back this coming year!!!!
Fantastic video, Vanessa and right on time given how inflation has eaten away at budgets. I have been to Curacao, Negril, Jamaica, the Bahamas, DR and Barbados and they are all wonderful budget locations. Curacao, the Bahamas, and Barbados were especially wonderful for my husband and I on a budget because they were safer islands and we could go out and find restaurants, beaches, snorkeling, nightlife, and transportation on our own. We were able to stay at less expensive hotels because we could eat and get around on our own without booking tours, or needing to stay at expensive all inclusives. I've already started looking into Dominica and Roatan. I'm so glad you concur. I appreciate your travel from Miami tip also.
@@Passport_Pages Thanks for the great info. I am a single male traveling. Roatan is where I have wanted to visit. Wildlife is a priority. Pool required but only interested in beach for snorkeling/diving. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
@@Passport_Pages Hello, Your videos are amazing and so full of helpfulness! Are these places safe? Do they have travel alerts? Can you do a safest vacation spot to visit list? Please & thanks 😊 🙏❤
Very surprised Grenada didn’t make the list somewhere. It’s a beautiful island, much more lush with better beaches than Curacao and one of the cheapest places in the Caribbean. The people are so welcoming too. If you haven’t been you must check it out. Agree with Roatan though. You really shouldn’t tell people :) And it’s already hard enough to get a breakfast or lunch table at Sandy Buns :)
W O W, just found your channel. Very informative and fun! Out of your top 10 we have been to 5 (Curaçao, The Abaco’s in the Bahamas, St. Kitts & Nevis - gotta get a Killer Bee cocktail at Sunshine’s Beach Bar…6 trips to Jamaica including Montego Bay, Negril and Ocho Rios and Roatan - day trip from a cruise) Soooo we 💯 % agree with those 5 recommendations and now we have 5 more “hidden gems” to visit post covid! Thanks!!
Hi Vanessa yes these flights are getting pricey😮 to add to your affordable vacays a friend decided to go to Thailand instead of Mx bc the flight she said was about the same or a little cheaper which is shocking but I can attest that it’s beautiful there with beautiful beaches lots of things to do easy and cheap to get around and eat out everyday and although I stayed in a resort I’m positive you can find lots of affordable hotels or air b&b. You’re right though a lot of these areas can be extremely affordable though no less enjoyable if we just change where we stay Thanks again
Yea, I agree. I was booking flights last night, and there’s no rhyme or reason to the prices based on distance of even airline anymore. Some close by flights can be very expensive, while other 8 hr flights can be very affordable 🤷🏻♀️
Hello there! I'm a newbie to your channel and soaking up the amazingly informative details that you provide including referrals. Thank you for this wonderful list. Weve been to 8/10 due to cruising but always go back for land trips after scoping things out via cruise. Question: Have you considered covering cost-effective places in the EU? We've lived in The Azores (Portugal) for many years then returned to the states for decades. Returned again most recently but decided to head to Madeira Island this time. Day 9 here. It has been incredibly cost-effective and is one of the most gorgeous places on earth imho.
Great video. Will have to check on some of those suggestions for next year. 😉 Could you do some more videos on tropical beaches to go to without a passport from the US? Places other than the Florida Keys?
Just found your channel a couple weeks ago and been binging! This video was much appreciated and opened my eyes to some different places to go. Thanks for doing what you do 🙂
This is so great! Thanks for all of the specifics, especially names of resorts. I can book from them directly, too, so they don’t lose a big portion to booking companies. For future videos, I’d love more about traveling alone. I prefer it! It’s so much fun to make friends with locals and just do whatever I want. But, are all of these safe for single females? Affordable if not paired with someone else? Just a thought. Thanks!
Thank you so much! I’ve been getting a lot of requests for solo recommendations lately, probably more than any other request, so I’ll definitely be incorporating more recommendations in my videos 👍😊
I really love your channel very informative and prepares me for upcoming travel ! You're always spot on with the information you provide and thank you for giving us affordable locations to travel to in the midst of a recession I definitely will be checking out these places this year !
With flights, everywhere is stupid high right now… we are skipping Aruba this year. 2 people round trip is coming in around $1600 (always paid around $800-$850)… we always stay at the Hilton in palm. Went this October, it was $2700. October 2021 was $1700… October 2023 is $3100!!
@@Passport_Pages yep - wife and I are going to Puerto Rico due to your videos :) got cheap flights on Black Friday. We are trying to find an affordable but good place to take our entire family but right now with flights being out of control it’s not looking good. Due to the prices in punta Cana we are thinking about trying there but the water issues turn me off. We have young adult kids, they will be out partying someone will drink the water or use it to brush their teeth lol… here a video idea for you - top affordable places to take a large family lol - enjoy your vids, glad I found you a few months ago. Just subed in my new account!
I'm arriving in Puerto Rico soon, can you please recommend a good cruise line? I understand that Carnival had an offer for about $46 a night which includes all food. I think that's a good option to negate costly airfare also. Thanks 😊
I absolutely agree re cruising! We've gone to 8/10 as well. Always go back for land trips after scoping out the countries/cities via a cruise. Would highly recommend Portugal 🇵🇹 for a cost-effective and gorgeous vacation. Currently in Madeira Island and can't stop thinking about the next return trip though we've already been here for 9 days 😂. Seriously, cruise ships stop here as well. Check it out!
Another great video, we definitely want to try some of these places. We've stayed at the Rio in Negril Jamaica on Bloody Bay which is basically the start of the 7 mile beach and it was incredible. That was the first time we ever stayed at an All Inclusive and it was awesome. The beach was incredible and there was an amazing lobster shack right beside our resort where you could go into the water and pick your own lobster out of the cage and they would cook it for you right on the beach. Our friends love staying at the Iberostar Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic as well. The beach is fantastic and for anyone from Canada, you will appreciate the "Beach Zamboni" that they use to clean up the sea weed each morning :) The resort is very lush and well maintained and the staff are supper friendly especially our cocktail lady "Maria Drinkie Drinkie" She always looks after us!!! The food was also very good. Our friends say this place is the best of both worlds, it has the pristine beaches like Cuba and the great food of Mexico. Speaking of Mexico we stayed at 2 great places, The Barcelo Resort in the Mayan Riverian (The Palace is a real treat for a special occasion but we also stayed in the Colonial and the Tropical, both very nice). The other fun place we stayed was the Blue Bay. It was like an ECO Resort with lots of Mangrove's and wild life but we weren't bothered by any bugs. The food was great there as well but the only down side was that the beach was basically unusable because of the seaweed in the water. I hope this helps anyone planning an All Inclusive vacation. The other thing I should mention is that we always book our trip very early (April or May) for the following winter as prices never get any cheaper. Cheers, and happy vacationing :) Kevin
Yeah, I'm going to be honest if your budget is 170-200 a night on a hotel. Your probably not that worried about budgeting. I've traveled to quite a few of these places and have never paid more than 65 a night and most were closer to 15-40 a night. Just be smart and aware of your surroundings when you travel.
I enjoyed this video a lot. My late husband and I vacationed on a number of these islands. We even stayed at the Timothy Beach Resort, and had a good time. I’m thinking of going to Curaçao, so I appreciate the tips.
Thank you I just subscribed ☺...I have been to Sinai Egypt 🇪🇬 Lebanon 🇵🇹 Portugal 🇵🇹 and Morocco 🇲🇦 the lat few months but it's just been to cold 🥶 especially at night...I'm landing g in Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 in a few days...I was wondering about purchasing a monthly Cruise 🛳 Ship option that would visit most of these places on your list, while negating costly airfares? I heard that Carnival Cruise has one option for $46 a night which includes meals...your thoughts are welcome...
Thanks Vanessa for sharing these helpful tips. Those places look so beautiful. 😍 I can feel your passion for traveling in your video. Safe travels to you! 👋 ✈️ Just subscribed! ✅️
On Barbados the government buses are now $3.50 Barbados dollars. Minibus also same price. Great to travel on usually- Friday afternoon traffic can be very slow out of Bridgetown on the South coast road so avoid that time. Longer journeys are the same price and very good value
Vanessa, thank you for this video. Taking your advice about going on a trip in September. Have you been to Roatan? Do you have any suggestions for a stay.
Barbados was very expensive for groceries, and restaurants even in non tourist places, more money that Toronto Canada. It was the one set back my parents were surprised by.
Can you please do more of this category of videos??? For example, maybe do "most budget friendly places in the Bahamas" etc.??? I want to take my wife on a Caribbean vacation (she's never been), but inflation is killing my vacation fund. Thanks!!!
This is another great video thank you so much for creating this awesome content and I love how you explain things and you have a great voice I've been on your Channel for probably almost a year I learn a lot with you but you forgot another gorgeous tropical island of Antigua I've been there twice and I absolutely love it it really is beautiful
Hello, I’m looking for an inexpensive trip to one of the islands you mentioned on this video. Or could you share any other islands you did not mention on a friendly budget. I’m celebrating a getaway for Feb 2024. Is Belize an inexpensive travel tourism? I watched a video that was circulated around an adult only resort of 6 to 9 huts. I don’t believe it was an all inclusive . But the food and drinks seemed very cheap. What drew my attention was the resort offers a litl bit of everything on island and other nearby islands within 10 mins. Snorkeling, hiking, boat rafting, along with other outdoor activities. There are several options of getting around by taxi, can rent a bike or an fold cart. Seemed super cool. The only thing, have to take a ferry to San Pedro which is about a 2 hr ride to get to main island where you will be staying. Is there a way to share video with you?
Hello there! Thank you for great information about Caribbean travel. I have a question about Routan - I've heard the No-see-ums bugs are really bad, is that true?
Hi! You’re very welcome 😊 They can be pesky and painful, I’m extra sensitive, but unfortunately they’ve been rampant a lot of places lately so it’s not just specific to one country or area. I always travel w bug spray recently, and it has helped keep them away in my experience.
The remedy is a thin layer of oil based sunscreen- they drown when they hit it. Don't miss a spot as they will find it- especially your feet and legs ✌🏼😎
I have family from there, Curacao, St Kitts... It was exciting to see so many places "back home" I need to visit/revisit. I grew up in the USVI so I came hunting for some island folk in the comments lol.
Hi. This is a question. After watching this budget islands vid can you if you have any recommendations for accommodation. Been on Airbnb and these seem expensive not budget friendly. Thanks in advance. Jeff H
Hi there! Can you tell me where that beach at the very end of the video is at? Gps coordinates would be great, but if not, just the name of the beach area would be really appreciated! Is it in Roatan? Thanks!
Hi Guys! Hope this video helps you save money on your next trip! Happy Travels ❤ -Vanessa
Vanessa, does Passport Pages have a website or telegram/discord group?
One thing to note is that she is correct in saying you can save a lot of money in the Bahamas if you stay away from the larger resorts and ship ports, but safety is an issue and something you need to be mindful of away from the bigger properties.
Thats anywhere in the world though. Gotta get a bit more risky to experience the true paradises..Otherwise you are just seeing a fake location.
We have stayed on Eleuthera three times. It is a quiet and charming island. There are some restaurants but no real nightlife. Yes. We stayed at one of the top luxury resorts and spent so much money/
Should think of your safety everywhere you go😅😅😅😅

Can you do video's on affordable beach resorts in Asia ❓️
Yes please

San Juan PR is a great spot too
being to all of these except martinque, barbados, st kits and Roaton.
LOTS OF USEFULL STUIFF BUT ANY CHANCE OF A FOLLOW UP VIDEO FOR SOLO TRAVELLERS OR THE OVER 60'S ?
Great honeymoon destinations for a young couple that's about to get married.
Now Im wondering of budget islands in the Pacific Ocean, seeing how some of these shown looked like Hawaii and the Phlipinnes.
St Maarten is great and pretty reasonable and ferry’s to St Barts and Anguilla make this a prized location!
You never mentioned Vieques, Puerto Rico a small island off of Puerto Rico fabulous beaches some of the best in the world incredible places to stay
Right now a trip to the international aisle at the grocery store counts as an exotic adventure...
I’m from Barbados 🇧🇧
I have family from there, Curacao, St Kitts... It was exciting to see so many places "back home" I need to visit/revisit. I grew up in the USVI so I came hunting for some island folk in the comments lol.
I was there at O2 Spa and Beach Club two weeks ago. I loved it
How do you travel from fort Lauderdale-Hollywood to the Martinique please?
Thanks!
When I am broke I prefer the "liquid vacation".
Great video! I have young children, are any of these islands considered unsafe for young children?
If children live there, children can go there.
