- I made this back in 2016 and only uploaded it to Tumblr at the time. Didn't think too much of it, thought I was kinda reaching, but ya know. I shared it anyway.
But then. The Book of Bill came out. I read it and realized just how much Bill actually had cared about Ford, how hurt he was by Ford rejecting him, and took a look at this video again. And realized I was really onto something. I am not denying that Bill was ALSO a horrible person. He very knowingly manipulated Ford, figured out what would get to him and then tried to use it to make Ford obey him. He put his own lust for power over any actual care he had for Ford. But I think he did still CARE. I mean man, spoilers but when Ford cut Bill off completely Bill straight up went and got blackout drunk, harassed a restaurant, tried to order "a Sixer" and broke into tears when they didn't understand, and later just laid waste to the place.
honestly y'all gotta read Book of Bill it's a trip. But yeah, I think there was something there. Bill was hoping for a genuine connection, and I think in Weirdmageddon when he offered Ford a place alongside him again, he meant it. Just. I have a lot of feelings about Bill.
SO yeah. Here's a video I made like eight years ago that I now think was surprisingly on point, and I have decided to share it all with you. Enjoy, or don't, I'm not a cop. And OH YEAH the song is the Avril Lavigne cover of "How You Remind Me", original by Nickelback. In retrospect perhaps I should have used the original but ah well. I think it's still good.

Yea, though more ex-ship tbh. When I first made this, I was imagining that it’s like. Bill had felt a genuine connection with Ford, he wasn’t JUST using him, he truly did like his company. But it’s just, well. When Ford got his doubts and tried to back out, that’s when Bill turned aggressive. Controlling. And he just fully snapped when Ford ended things completely. But still, those feelings persisted, and when he had a chance to get Ford on his side again, he tried to convince him! I think, as manipulative and destructive as Bill can be, deep down he is still this lonely being who wants a friend. A real friend, and not someone who pretends because they’re scared or they just want to share his powers.
So this video is just sorta like. Bill lamenting that things went the way they did. That he loved Ford and he still does, but he realizes how fucked up by him Ford was. And Ford reminds him of what he really is: a monster. And maybe he was wrong to try giving his heart to him, or ANYONE for that matter. It’s just really sad to me ahaha :’) Bill is such a tragic character. I felt it before, but the Book of Bill made it so much more obvious how broken he is.
Sorry for the rambling. I just have a lotta Bill Thoughts now. Tl;dr Bill is dangerous AND pathetic and I think he truly loved Ford and at the same time was awful for him, and he’s aware of that, but it still hurts. The end
