Wow brother this is incredible! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this video! Exceptional work you definitely have Mad Skills my friend. Thanks again God bless
If you fully cover the black with the flakes it should make no difference. The purpose of the black is to simply know when flakes are at 100% coverage. You could spray silver flakes over silver for an extra pop, but it may be hard to tell when you have full coverage.
Its basecoat/clearcoat. He based it and then shot clear over it, sanded it and then shoots metalflake with basecoat binder. You can use an intercoat clear or clearcoat to shoot metalflake, kandies, or pearls...
i guess Im asking randomly but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account? I was dumb lost my password. I would love any assistance you can offer me.
@Jamal Carlos i really appreciate your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Paint Huffer Metalflake! They have incredible flake that lays down flat and pops like nothing else. Lots of colors and sizes available, I usually use the 50/50 Silver flakes.
I've done red for my suspension parts and it looks great, if I did black metal flake would it show? also on my hood, doing graphics with metal flake red candy, you think I should leave the black plane and just clear coat the hood?
Hard to say, just depends what you like and what vision you have of the finished piece. Black flakes just look like dirt over a lighter color, I have based parts with black flake and it looks pretty cool, looks like new skateboard grip tape.
There’s no stupid questions here my friend. I like to put flakes over solid black, and that’s only so that I can tell when the flakes are fully covered. A metallic black would work just as well, and some like to spray it over silver.
Hey sir ! This looks amazing . Just wanted to ask are you using a standard tip to spray this ? Can these flakes be used in any clear ? School me sir ! Im about to do my 06 Chevy gunmetal grey and I need it to have the flake like this . Thanks in advance for the info.
@@Popsplace42 do other size flakes pop the same way or is that the clear coat making it glimmer? If mixing glitter colors together should they be the same size or should the darker shade be finer??
I’m sanding and flow coating to get rid of any height difference in panels anyway, so going for clear thickness, not concerned about runs at that point. I also cut and buff the finished parts so runs in the clear are of no concern to me. Thanks for watching!

Excellent!
Nice homey…I’m learning
Fantastic work very usefull
Thanks for sharing this.
Old school.. cool.
Came out nice bud
that spray gun sounds like it at 50# at the nozzle seems really high when i spray its lower & not as much force letting the flake lay downjust sayin
Nah, nowhere near 50.. the camera was just sensitive to the air pressure sounds.
"paint huffer" I'm dying. really educational video though, thank you for the content
Very good work 😀👍
Really nice, more informations please!
What size tip did you use on the gun
Nice work !
How much something like this cost for a street glide
Does painting flakes over black give the flake the same pop as putting them over matching colour?
If you fully cover the black with the flakes it should make no difference. The purpose of the black is to simply know when flakes are at 100% coverage. You could spray silver flakes over silver for an extra pop, but it may be hard to tell when you have full coverage.
Badass you get down brotha …
Really enjoyed this . Thanks! On that black first coat, is that just a single stage 2 part automotive paint? Or is it something special?

@Jamal Carlos It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thanks so much, you really help me out!
Hells ya!!
What spraygun do you need to paint the metal flakes?
I use a Devilbiss Starting Line HVLP with a 1.8 tip, but I use a .004 & .008 size flakes which are on the smaller side.
Love the metal flake but once u spray them in your garage u never get rid of them. !!! Can't clean enough see them for months lol
That’s the truth!
That's pretty amazing job. Damn!
Beautiful
Where do you buy your flake
Paint Huffer Metalflake! They have incredible flake that lays down flat and pops like nothing else. Lots of colors and sizes available, I usually use the 50/50 Silver flakes.
Whats the gun pressure? Sounds like quite a bit, no? Like an air rifle when u pull trigger?
Honestly I just set my air pressure by ear, and by how it’s spraying.. Something I’ve gotten a feel for.
@@Popsplace42 i get that. Ya get a feel for things after a while. ;)
Kewl man

What's reducer ? Do you mean 2k thinners sorry just learning the USA terms must be different
How do I mix metal flakes
You can use an intercoat clear, basecoat binder or even clear coat....
Can I do this with green flake??
Absolutely! I’ve done it with blue flakes before, same technique.
What size fluid tip are you using?
1.8 for the flakes
do you add clearcoat after this??
Yes after flake, I clearcoat heavily so that I can sand it flat without touching flakes… for a flat surface to begin the artwork tape.
Sorry for stupid questions - but do you put the flakes on a metallic black base or a solid black? Thank you
There’s no stupid questions here my friend. I like to put flakes over solid black, and that’s only so that I can tell when the flakes are fully covered. A metallic black would work just as well, and some like to spray it over silver.
Hey dude did you flatten the clearcoat then spray the candy blue with basecoat binder over it ,? Great work 👍
Good work son ,

I’m using a 1.8 size tip for the flakes, they can be mixed into any clear, but I like to use a clear binder or basecoat as a flake carrier.
How about Filter on Spray Gun , did you Removing or Not ?
The filter in the gun has to be removed in order for the flakes to pass thru....
Legend has it that he is finding flake in his garage to this very day!
True story! 😅
ask for knowledge you mix in clear...?
I mix the flakes into a clear basecoat or binder.
What size gun tip are you using? 2.0? 2.5?
I use a 1.8 tip for spraying the Paint Huffer 50/50 flakes. It’s a mix of .004 and .008 size flake.
@@Popsplace42 do other size flakes pop the same way or is that the clear coat making it glimmer? If mixing glitter colors together should they be the same size or should the darker shade be finer??
Lots of runs I see

Like from Brazil - Mogi das Cruzes city - São Paulo state.
How about zooming in on your work so it can be seen better
Looks great and that flake is beefy.
What size tip did you use
1.3 for my basecoat and clear, 1.8 for the flakes.
