Two pieces of news for you;Got the tin tack on Monday due to my epilesy!!And the other small bit of news is my bluetooth headphones seem to have shorted the power for my mat that sends electrical impulses to my legs to get rid of tiredness and promote good circulation.Dont worry about the job,Im ok about it.Hope you go from strength to strength loving your posts!!xxx

I love this kind of video. I could do this with my mum. We love a good coffee shop visit. On the cup sizes, I remember being told to give people regular size when I worked in BHS Coffee Lounge (throwback!) so yeah I would say it is standard!
Aww glad you liked it.. yeah I think they should ask what size especially with it being expensive these days for some people… but I know they try and upsell. When I worked for costa I was always told after they ordered would they like to buy a cake too but I had to say would you like a cake.. then I felt an idiot when they realised it was t free because the way you said it made it sound that way so you could earn more… so I always chucked in the word buy so save myself lol

It was down to yours and Tims vlogs that we found Whitby, and mainly your vlogs that I had the courage to go away for our first family holidays because I stress so much about going anywhere with kids! Oh wow! Great to hear I’m so glad .. making memories as a family is so important in life so I’m glad I’ve manage to help build that confidence in some way. It is hard though at times isn’t it but you’ve gotta push through. Although I only have 1 to deal with… 2 if you count Tim 😂😂 so I can imagine it being hard. Well done though all credit to you. I ❤ my coffee so very excited for this!!! I live in a town where every other shop is a coffee shop, lol! I would say Costa is my favourite as I think it the coffee is stronger? I also love their festive offerings! ☕

I am glad you picked Nero. We are in are sixty’s. And we love Nero. But spend far too much money. We live in Southport but have traveled all over. And find them there best. Your son and daughter are both lovely. 👍💕

When I was out meeting my friend the other day, we went in to Caffè Nero. We said we have never been in there before, so thought to give it a try. It was quite impressing. Will sure to go back in Caffè Nero again. I do the Costa Coffee club and always like to treat myself to a strawberries and cream frappé.

Very interesting and informative to experience your comparisons. Oh for the days when it was simply a black or white coffee and not all these fancy ones! Being a tea person more than coffee, Costa has to be my number one as they serve pots of tea. (Other than at railway stations where they have discontinued china for everything.) Joint alternative (depending upon which one is where I happen to be!) is Cafe Nero and Starbucks. Both have pluses and minuses, as you pointed out. Perhaps we should try more independents. Usually a bit more expensive but I have come across some very good ones. Pot of tea with tea leaves, with a strainer, of course!
Yes I agree can’t beat a traditional pot Barry. I think I’ll do my too 5 independent coffee shops too and get Tim to have a tea and myself coffee next x
Hiya Gaby, enjoy your coffee shops vlog, I mostly go to Costa or Starbucks for coffee but I don't really have any cakes to eat as for the size of them are very small for the price. Not have try hotel Chocolat drinks yet. but we try next time,thanks for sharing and have a good wkend

I have only been in a Starbucks twice. Really dirty both time, in different branches. Apart from that I never go into a chain. Always support small independents. Homemade cakes are usually so much better and more choice. And they belong to people who are passionate about what they do. We need to keep these independents going. That's me off my soap box,🤣 not a critical just a thought. Keep your great vlogs coming.😍🥰
Yes I think that’s fabulous.. I was saying I should do too 5 if independent ones… we don’t have many in the city that I know of but I’ll investigate.. we do have some in Yarmouth down back roads xx

Hi Gaby I was watching your video in a beer garden in Dereham ( Norfolk ) when it occurred to me I haven't visited any of the top five coffee shops you mentioned!! I then tried a Starbucks across the road and enjoyed a yummy caramel macchiato and cheesecake. Thankyou for inspiring me to try something new! Will have to try a Cafe Nero next.

Yes, we like Cafe Nero too but don't have one locally. Nearest to us is Costa and to be fair the staff are great and it's a nice space. It is dear though. Will look out for Bakers and Baristas.

Great vlog Gaby. I love a frothy coffee and a bit of people watching ☕ There isn't a lot of selection where I live, mainly Greggs and Costa, although quite a few of independent cafés. I prefer Greggs coffee over Costa, I find Costa coffee quite bitter, whether that is because I always opt for skimmed milk? Sadly I don't indulge in cakes 😢 1: because I'm fat enough already!! and 2: I refuse to pay the extortionate prices that they charge for cakes. I'm more than happy with my coffee and just watching the world go by. I do agree with Tim though, as I prefer my coffee in a takeaway cup. Have a fab weekend Gaby, Tim and family 👪
I do agree cakes are a joke… I’m not gonna buy them anymore either not worth it… I used to like greggs but ours never offers alternative milk and it’s always a dump and the Norwich one is too so I kinda stopped going in which is a shame because Greggs cakes are ama Ing and cheaper
Hi Gaby, just started watching your videos 🙂 really enjoyed this video as a coffee lover! I'm vegan and I hate whatever plant based milk they use in Costa, they changed it a few years ago and I don't often go in there now. I tend to opt for Caffe Nero because they have a good choice of vegan cakes and I quite like a strong coffee to wake me up a bit!

Starbucks is awful for cakes but ok for coffee and costa is rubbish for coffee but has good cakes .. why cant we have one that wins all round!

I used to like Greggs until they had no alternative milk one day .. so stopped going in but I used to love it… I really liked it when it was bakers oven

Really enjoyed watching this video Gaby, but I use to swear by Costa until they started getting my orders wrong n the coffee started getting really strong even though u can make it weaker it still comes out strong
thats right wendy... you can actually change the doser on the grinder.... but some baristas haven't been trained to know that... so you are correct they are getting it wrong without realising...which is a shame for themselves in the long run when customers don't return x

Oh yes now that’s one to do … I’ll put that on my list.. I’ll probably feature Hotel chocolat in one of my vlogs so people can see.. when I’ve been in there in the past it was lively inside my the AC is always on and I’m freezing 🥶

Cafe Nero is my no. 1 of choice too……purely because I love a strong but smooth coffee. I tend to use Costa more than any other but it’s purely because it’s the only available in the towns around me. I haven’t been in a Starbucks for a long time because I found their coffee really wishy washy……….but that was about 20 odd years ago so maybe I should give them another chance 😂😂😂😂😂😂
They can be like that but if you go in Starbucks again try the blonde toast it’s smoother I have it all the time.. yeah cafe Nero all the way.. pure quality x

One issue I have with coffee shops certain ones is as a coeliac gluten free options are not good or if cake is offered it’s a CHOCOLATE BROWNIE I have had enough of chocolate brownies
That’s the thing not enough alternative options to s there.. I feel the same with rocky road.. overload
Prett was always my go to till they closed down the shop in my local Mall 😞
I used to love prett but they started using paper cups after covid and never stopped.. which stopped me sitting in x

I love the smell of coffee, I like coffee ice cream and coffee chocolates but I can’t get on with drinking plain coffee with milk.. any suggestions on something to try?
You differently know it a good coffee if it smells nice.
I’m the opposite isn’t that strange.. I’d try like a mocha or caramel macchiato… no it’s 50/50 a mocha half hot chocolate and half coffee and a caramel macchiato is a latte / cappuccino with caramel in the top which gives it this sweet taste.. give it ago xx

I tend to prefer Nero as I quite like the coffee but also I find generally the staff are friendly. I don't know if they try at interview to select people who will actually be inclined to chat with customers but it's a lot better than Costa where they are more interested in their colleagues. Or Starbucks where it sometimes feels like their prepping for surgery and you are unconscious and don't need any chat. Unfortunately we have no less than four Costas in sunny Stevenage and 2 Starbucks. I have to travel 10 miles to get to a Nero. Hitchin to the north or Welwyn Garden City to the south. Come on Nero, we're being regenerated, why don't you get in early?

Haha no it’s my real maiden name. I just kept it as Starbuck because I was already known as this for my singing so didn’t want to start all over again

At my cafe Nero they always offer the 2 blends. Also the Brazilian was amazing. I even buy the ground version from there to have at home. The coffee and service in any Nero is always top class and my number 1 choice too. Costa is terrible in every single aspect. I would go without rather than buy Costa.

Hi Gaby,I know you have a thing for coffee,personally I can't stand the taste of it,you would've been a good friend to my mum,she loved going in coffee shops whenever we went out for a day somewhere,she would be there ages and you had a job getting her to leave once she was settled with her coffee and cakes especially cream cakes.She sadly is no longer around,I lost her in 2017.
Sorry to hear that she sounded like my kinda girl… we’d of got on well. I do understand why people may not like it… coffee can have like a strong muddy taste to it so I get it.. I think with me it started as a young habit. I used to live a coffee when I was at school.. I was always at the max pac machine in the cafe. I think my family drank it so it rubbed off on my me

The prices of those coffee shops is disgusting,no wonder their profits are so good.Don't get me wrong,i aren't greedy with money but what with the cost of living,i am surprised people can afford these places.Speaking of your coffee,when is your next coffee morning Gaby?
I agree it’s so wrong what they charge… it’s cups of tea that gets me… a tea bag, water and tiny drop of milk you can pay nearly £3 a cup.. and I’d say yes you paying for the service of up keep if shop etc and staff… but I know for a fact the staff are on minimum wage.. disgraceful because the staff work so hard… yes coffee morning tomorrow.. I think about 10am though x
