    Nice vid. Just a helpful tip, on B18B1 (non vtec) engines, when both camgears are at TDC, directly behind the cam gears above the camshaft ends you will see a small machined hole above the camshaft ends, if the camgears are positioned at true TDC since the camshaft ends also have a machined hole, both holes will match up directly in line with each other so then you can just insert a drill bit etc. at the appropriate size to hold the cam gears at TDC. To remove the drill bits you simply move the camshaft with a crescent wrench since those camshafts have a designated area to mount the crescent wrench. At 7:22MIN you can see the circular holes behind the camgears. Hope this hepls.

    You know right behind the cam gears there's actually a place to put a 5 mm Punch or allen wrench to hold the cam gears? Then you don't need to put the wrenches on there like that

    Great video. I have a b18c honda motor im working on. I was changing the belt and installing a aftermarket harmonic balancer on the gearshaft. I didn’t have a problem lining up the cams, however, as i was installing the harmonic balancer, With the belt removed, I believe I may have moved the TDC of the main crankshaft off of its center. I cannot view the marks of the main crank because the aftermarket harmonic balancer now covers it and its far too difficult to remove now. I was planning on putting a stick in the spark plug hole to find dead center as it raises up upon moving the crankshaft, but I was concerned that the valves would be affected, so i removed the cams from its journals to avoid any valves from being bent and now im planning on turning the crankshaft (counter clockwise) measuring TDC of the camshaft in order to get it TDC. Question - Am I correct to assume that it’s important to get my maincrankshaft on TDC ? And if so, am I doing it correctly? Thanks. Any help is appreciated.

    Man I can tell you from looking at the old belt when it's at top dead center... Whoever put the previous belt on left it about one or two teeth too loose between the cam gears it's definitely not supposed to have that much slack unless it just stretched out really bad. It's supposed to be pretty tight across the top

    So after the belt is on and timed, do you remove the crank pull bolt and then enter the small key and the pulley ? That won’t mess up the timing ? I’m trying to do my timing right now.

      Impact guns are the best for removing the crank bolt if not you can get one of these from Autozone

      Try one of these 19mm harmonic balancer sockets special made for Honda B series motors. It’s like a steroid-hefty mutha impact socket. It will break that crank bolt loose in a jiffy. amzn.to/3DPVuP8

    • @RevHighDriveHappy
      @RevHighDriveHappy  4 роки тому +4

      GrannMastaGerms yes just 3 teeth and then tighten the tensioner then rotate the engine a few times and make sure everything lines up to top dead center

  • @danielstephens4420

    It'll probably run good for a while but I'm not really sure man? I've done about 50 of these and that belt looks really loose when you had it there in the video on the top. I mean you got everything lined up and it'll probably run for a little while I just don't know with it being that loose if it's going to go 100,000 miles. I mean these belts are almost really hard to put on there so tight to get across those two cam gears I've just never seen it that loose on the top like that

      Duralast/dayCo is a pretty decent brand the reason I’m using it is because AutoZone offers a lifetime warranty on the water pump and timing belt kit so once a year I just change everything out and it doesn’t cost me a thing after I bought the first time
