Hi! I know it doesn’t have anything to do with this particular video, but I’ve seen your videos and I must say they are really good! So I was wondering if you could do a video of the beauty of Anne with an E cause it’s a masterpiece of a series and has some pretty astonishing takes! Hope you see this and have a wonderful day!🥰💖
Holy crap I just realized something. I think the film could be commenting on how the military punishes the childlike, like how Sergeant Pyle was chewed up and spat out by the system and it drove him to the point of suicide. But at the end of the film, they all sing the Mickey Mouse song. It’s a system that actively attempts to weed out the scared little children but yet enables those who made it through by showing them how they never have to grow up. The duality of man.
You can't just slap the word underrated when you think a movie isn't as appreciated as you believe it to be. Does FMJ deserve its praise? Yes. Certainly not an underrated film by any means. Maybe when it first came out, but not anymore.
I memorised all of R. Lee Ermey's lines for this movie for over a year now. I never laughed so hard at his performance. I also love the influences it carried over the years. Sarge from the Toy Story movies (1995-2010), The Frigheners (1996), various commericals, and voice work. Last line in Toy Story 3: "It has been an honor serving with you. Good luck, folks." Me: 😢 Sir, it has indeed been an honor, sir. 🫡 RIP R. Lee Ermey 🌹
Stanley Kubrick is my favorite director because his direction is always beautiful and each film is different and original and he has made only masterpieces. He is the most important director in history.
I think Leonard is a great example of what the Marine Corps instills in its Marines, “killers” not negatively but a weapon that’s effective in combat, Leonard being defective in a way where that killer has taken control. He represents what is now planted in every Marine but he cannot control what has been taught and beaten into him. In the end of this movie Joker shows what Leonard shows him in the beginning that they were trained to kill
This film is based on the book "The Short-Timers". The moral of the book was that the Marine Corps makes a man a beast in the worst sense of the word. The corps breaks a man, destroys everything good that could have been in him, leaving a ruthless bastard in his place. And then, after the war, this ruthless bastard is thrown out into his native home. The original, it is worth noting, is much more cruel. There are also football games with the severed head of a Vietnamese, and an officer who wants to send the head of a Vietnamese to his wife as a souvenir, and mass killings of civilians. I just advise you to read the original, then a lot becomes clear. Alas, Kubrick reworked the plot quite a lot, which is why the original story remained unsolved.
@@СергейАндреев-д3уthanks for the tip, I’ll have to look into it, the culture of Marines is wild and something I can say is almost not comparable to the Army or other branches, reading the With the Old Breed and Helmet for my pillow just shows how Marines are treated like the bastard children of the military and bastard children will cause the most damage to their enemy
Agreed. What I like about FMJ more is that doesn't try to hit you over the head with the "war is hell" message quite as hard as Apocalypse Now. FMJ kinda just shows war as it is and I like that.
@@ballo3595 I think a war movie with constant shock value like both armies being savages and brutally executing each other or being cruel in general would show the "war is hell" message and actually do something with it. But maybe that'd Just be edgy and people would say " but in real life we have the Geneva convention" and then I'd just look like a dumbass
Probably the best anti-war, war movie I’ve seen. Well done 👌 on a second note, I was wondering if you ever considered doing the Beauty of the Before Trilogy? I’ve just revisited it yesterday and I would state that it’s best trilogy when it comes to relationships, from both a romanticized and realist perspective.
Oh my, thank you sooooooo much for this, I will wait for The Beauty Of Fury, another wonderfull war movie, thank you for all the reflexion Stanley, forever in our hearts ❤️
not his finest war film, obviously it's path of glory but the first 45 minutes of this movie is the single most weird cinematic experience i ever had in my life.
Please a video of the Channel 4 series Utopia. It's one of the most brilliantly shot, written, acted and produced series I've seen and deserves way more attention than it got on air! You guys doing a video on it would be amazing love the channel

A horrifying, yet beautiful film
Couldn't have said it better.
_I never understood why Full Metal Jacket wasn't even nominated for the Oscars as cinematography. Nor as director or sound effects editing._
because the oscars are bullshit thats why
This movie see us the facts. I think Usa did not like it.
@@burakyagzdalgc5350 apocalypse now ?
2 oscars wins
they fcking nailed the look of 60s Saigon
@@hoppinggnomethe4154 Right?! Amazing that Kubrick shot the whole film in England. They imported palm trees from Spain.
I'm not a fan of war genre, but "Full Metal Jacket" changed my mind
Ironically, the film is very anti-war.
Watch _Come & See_
I'd suggest Jarhead if you like FMJ
Try apocalypse now
Alp Guler more like watch apocalypse now now
This one remains as masterpiece by stanley kubrick. One of my favorite film of his brilliant works. Excellent and well-crafted
happy birthday, stanley kubrick.

Arguably the most influential filmmaker of all time

Kubrick was a master of framing
I’ve always seen this as such a great character study film for Joker
The wonderful Matthew and Stanley i had a amazing time on this film through pure luck, right place right time and knowing someone. Stew FMJ Crew.
Happy Birthday Stanley!
Stanley Kubrick had an iq of 200 which means he was the Issac Newton of film making . He's my fav director and an era defining genius .
The amazing Stanley Stew FMJ Crew.
Every movie created by Kubrick is the greatest in his genre...even one of his early movies “The Killing” is pure gold
This is the first Kubrick film i watched, which is why it will always be special for me even though I don't think it's his best
Jesus Christ, this is just beautiful!
And I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to chose the right scene, but this is perfect!

wow I've seen this movie so many times but I never really noticed those long wide shots.
This movie was one of the first war movies I watched years back and still I don't think anything else I've seen has topped it.
