But he did. Let’s be honest, after that Bulls run he was chasing that 7th ring to get separation from MJ. It just didn’t happen but he got close🤷🏽‍♂️

@icebergslimtv6377 come on its not the same thing... he already won 6 rings and he wanted to prove he could win without Mj. And everyone over 33-34 that haven't one in their prime started chasing rings... it was always the case... when we talk about ring chasing in the modern era is about mvp candidates in their prime team up instead of competing against each other

6:16 Haha It’s pretty much Isiah Thomas keeping it alive. I don’t know when that segment of The Last Dance was filmed, but Isiah Thomas saw Michael Jordan the GOAT talk about it on the docu-series, but he started acting as if MJ recently sat down and made the comments on a podcast. Over the last 4-5 years, since The Last Dance was shown on ESPN, Isiah Thomas has been talking about it on every podcast. First, Isiah Thomas demanded an apology from Michael Jordan and Jordan completely ignored him and never responded. And then about a year and half later, Isiah Thomas begged Michael Jordan for an apology - Michael Jordan ignored him again and never responded. And then about a year and a half or so later, Isiah Thomas begged Michael Jordan to do a sit down, like Isiah Thomas did with Magic Johnson, and of course Michael Jordan ignored him once again and never responded. So after being ignored and dismissed for 4 to 5 years, Isiah Thomas does a full 180 by now criticizing LeBron James and the LeBron James Era for ignoring the mid-range jump-shot and load-managing, while praising Michael Jordan for mastering the mid-range jump-shot and never cheating the game like LeBron James and his era does. Michael Jordan has never brought up the subject in real-time or in any other fashion outside of The Last Dance documentary. Even the Queen LeBron-sniffer himself, Shannon Sharpe, begged Isiah Thomas to let it go and to stop talking about it because as Sharpe said, Michael Jordan couldn’t care less to reconcile with Isiah Thomas, just as MJ doesn’t care to ever reconcile with Charles Barkley and Scottie Pippen.

5:51 Does Scottie Pippen mean that 13 assists is about 30 extra points by the assists alone? Because if my math is correct, a guard who averages 20 and 10 is an average of at least 40 points.

Great point about Dominique not making the Dream Team, he should have at least been there instead of Laettner. Bottom line is, Isiah Thomas was an unsportsmanlike player and the Dream Team was made of true sportsmen and competitors, who valued fair play and respect. When he and his Pistons decided to live up to their bad boys moniker, going out to injure players, walking off without shaking hands, that's when he lost the respect of his peers. Greeting about it makes him look worse.

27:52 Maybe it’s different regionally because nobody in Los Angeles, California was saying that Wilt Chamberlain was the GOAT because people around my age didn’t see Wilt Chamberlain and then in the 1980s and 1990s there were no internet and social media. Even now with the internet and social media, it’s still very difficult to find Chamberlain clips and I’m not sure full games of Wilt and/or Russell are even online. So without the internet, at least people in my age group in the 1990s didn’t really know about Wilt’s numbers or anybody’s numbers, unless you read it in a book or magazine…..which were not readily available for everybody. NBA games could only give you so much information. One of the major reasons why the NBA GOAT debate is such a phenomenon today is because of the readily available information of basketball statistics and information, and the ability to connect with people, share information, and debate with just about any basketball fan in the world. But without this abundance of historical basketball information, we just went off what we saw, and I think that most basketball fans in Los Angeles, California thought that Magic Johnson was the GOAT, which is one of many reasons why the 1991 NBA Finals and Marv Albert’s “Oh, a spectacular move by Michael Jordan” was both pivotal and historic because it was a passing of the GOAT torch in many people’s eyes. Michael Jordan defeated the man who had become the best player on a historic dynasty with Kareem Abdul-Jabar and Michael Jordan defeated the man who bested Larry Bird from college to the pros, and Larry Bird played for the greatest dynasty that also retired the jersey of the man who “dominated” Wilt Chamberlain in route to 11 Championships in only 13 NBA Seasons. It just hit me that even that Skap Attack guy ranks Bill Russell over Wilt Chamberlain in terms of who owned the 1960s. So maybe you guys in your area of the country thought that Wilt Chamberlain was the Goat, but I think that it was Magic Johnson in LA. Magic Johnson’s non-assist stats were not pretty, but he was a 6’9” forward who played point guard for his entire career and he won the Finals MVP playing center in his very first season, Magic Johnson went to nine NBA finals, won 5 out 9 Finals for 5 championships, 3 Finals MVPs, 3 Michael Jordan Regular Season MVPs, 4 Assists Titles, 2 Steals Titles (so 1 more Steals Titles than Scottie Pippen and 1 less than Michael Jordan), and he won the NCAA National Championship, and all of this by the very young AGE of only 29 years old. And then he came back while Michael Jordan was the Undisputed GOAT and Magic Johnson won the NBA Kobe Bryant All-Star MVP (with HIV) back when the All-Star Game was respected as the best versus best all playing almost to their best abilities. So I think that people saw Goat-ness without the crazy stats because of his successful dominant versatility. Maybe others have or heard other pre-Michael Jordan Goats, besides Wilt and Magic, in other areas of the country. But I will say that it appears that the Los Angeles Lakers may be the most popular team in the United States. I think that everybody is used to seeing a bunch of Los Angeles Lakers fans who are not from Los Angeles, California. And everybody loved Magic Johnson as a person and as an ambassador for the game and the NBA, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Magic Johnson was the Goat for a lot of people before Michael Jordan became the undisputed GOAT of professional basketball.

    • @RollandCurtis2323
      @RollandCurtis2323 14 днів тому +3

Haha It just hit me that Scottie Pippen is going to call Earvin “Magic” Johnson the GOAT in this interview, maybe even in this segment of the interview. But Scottie Pippen is a horrible flip-flipper because he’s called Wilt Chamberlain the Goat in the past, as well as he’s called both Michael Jordan and LeBron James the Goat, so Scottie Pippen has lost some credibility at this point.

    • @RollandCurtis2323
      @RollandCurtis2323 14 днів тому +3

Also Charles Barkley said that the greatest compliment that a basketball player can receive is that he makes his teammates better, and I think that we would all agree that nobody did that better than Magic Johnson, until Michael Jordan appeared.

At the same time, I feel like Pip knows he said some shit about MJ he can never take back, but still kinda wants to give that respect, if you will, to Jordan. If you really look at the situation between MJ and him, MJ (as far as I know) still hasn't said anything negative about Pippen and still holds him in high regard.

Interviewer just mined Scottie for controversy, and while I have some empathy for Scottie, that's about it. There's always a different side to every story, we can only call BS if he made a contradictory comment or behaved in a different manner during the instances cited.
Scottie is a great two-way player who was a big factor in the team success Jordan achieved. But Jordan took off from the get-go while Scottie began his rise only in his third season. His main problem was mental strength. He was never meant to be the lead guy. As for Jordan off-court I don't buy Scottie's BS that they were never friendly, maybe not close friends but likely the sourness in their relationship resulted from jealousy. Yes, Jordan could be difficult but at least he was straightforward, that even his greatest rivals acknowledge him even though they didn't like him, save for a few hold-outs like Karl Malone, Isiah Thomas, and Bill Laimbeer.
Isiah has made a living on being left off the Dream Team, and personally, it's good that he has been left out, because his whining is tantamount to disrespecting the people who were selected. There are only 12 slots and while his Pistons were back-to-back champions, Isiah didn't have a clear performance advantage over Stockton. Other than Laettner, everyone had a strong case to be selected, though I waver between picking Dominique over Pippen, but that became moot because Wilkins was not fully recovered from injury by the time they started playing the Tournament of the Americas qualifiers.

8:27 True, Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen are the greatest dynamic duo in NBA history, but if MJ knew that Scottie was going to snake him 28 years later, then Scottie Pippen would’ve been on the Isiah Thomas/Dominique Wilkins side of history in-regards to the 1992 Dream Team. Isiah Thomas used to disrespect Scottie Pippen over this in the past. Thomas used to essentially say that he could understand Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, or Larry Bird having the power or flex to keep him off The ‘92 Dream Team, but not a Scottie Pippen. However, funny enough, I think Scottie Pippen and Isiah Thomas have a much better shot at reconciling, if they haven’t already, than either man reconciling with Michael Jordan. @rickortonwins 14 днів тому +3

27:54 I agree with Scottie Pippen, at least when I was younger even in the 1990s, in my area of California and even on television, I don’t remember people making a big deal about who was the greatest of all-time during the 1990s, however, Coach Bobby Knight was only four (4) years younger than Wilt Chamberlain, so I would bet money that Coach Bobby Knight saw Wilt Chamberlain’s entire college and NBA basketball careers, so he was an expert in basketball who actually saw full college and NBA games of Wilt Chamberlain, yet in 1984, eleven (11) years after Wilt Chamberlain retired from the National Basketball Association, the late great Coach Bobby Knight said this about Michael Jeffrey Jordan in 1984 and I quote, “In the categories of competitiveness, ability, skill, and then athletic ability, he's the best athlete, he's one of the best competitors, he's one of the most skilled players. That, to me, makes him the best basketball player I've ever seen play," said the late great Bobby Knight. So unlike Shaquille O’Neal waiting for Kobe Bryant to pass before really elevating Kobe Bryant into Michael Jordan’s GOAT Debate, Bobby Knight said that Michael Jordan was the best that he ever saw, while the late great Wilt Chamberlain was still very well and very alive. Now I will give a disclaimer by saying that best ever is probably different from the greatest ever. Some use the terms interchangeably and others regard them as very distinct. For instance, regarding the best basketball players in world history, most will say it’s Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant, but regarding the greatest basketball players in world history, most will say Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabar. So Michael Jordan fulfills both categories. Similarly, when it comes to individual statistical greatness, most will say Michael Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain, but when it comes to team-championship greatness, most will say Michael Jordan and Bill Russell. So again, Michael Jordan fulfills both categories. Michael Jordan is so easily the GOAT of the game of basketball, that it’s not really much of a thought…..it’s just a reality that you accept and move on to who is #2 All-Time and so forth.

7:05 I think there was bad blood between Isaiah and Pippen, Bird, Jordan. Possibly more. (I never paid attention to the other EC playoff series with the pistons). If the bulls hated the “assault and battery on the way to the rim” tactics of the Bad Boys probably others did too. Magic and Thomas were friends off the court, kinda hated each other on. So a huge chunk of the team, where chemistry is an issue.
I think MJ gets the blame/credit because he was big enough to cause this to happen. People want a single Big Man pulling the trigger, I think it was a team decision

Thomas showed a lack of respect for the Bulls, the NBA, and the sport. I don't want that guy representing
the USA in the Olympics. I can't take the chance that in the VERY unlikely event that Team USA lost a
game or he doesn't like a call, that he might just up and walk off the floor.
To me, it doesn't matter if Jordan kept him off the team. Thomas had already shown his lack
of sportsmanship, and we just can't have that type of representative in the Olympics.
Pippen's baseball comparison is hogwash. Basketball and hockey are much more closely related and even
in hockey you have one assigned position that doesn't change. The goalie. In basketball, while you have
assigned roles, at any point in time a PG might have to guard a center. That doesn't happen in any other sport
I can think of except maybe badminton or volleyball.
AS far as the Pippen to Jordan GOAT comparison goes, please don't go there Scottie. You lose and you lose badly.
Pippen: !st Team All Defense 8 times
    Jordan: 9 times
    Pippen Scoring titles ZERO
    Jordan: 10
    Pippen: Steals Leader 1
    Jordan: 3
The Wemby/Jordan thing is laughable. Put Wemby in Jordan's era and the Piston's put him in the hospital the first time they play.
And I'm a total Spurs geek, but I'm not insane.

33:59 Scottie Pippen won 6 rings in 17 years, Michael Jordan won 6 rings in 15 years (technically 6 in 11 complete seasons), and LeBron James won 4 rings in 22 years. And this qualifies Michael Jordan’s success vs Scottie Pippen’s. In terms of championship-winning percentages, the longevity hurts Scottie Pippen, just as the longevity is actually destroying LeBron James. Going by averages and Michael Jordan playing 15 seasons, Michael Jordan won 2 NBA Championships every 5 years vs LeBron James who won 2 NBA Championships every 11 years.

Scottie over LeBron any day of the week. I think Scottie is just being slick lol but tbh he is one of the greatest but, not the greatest. I agree, it was Wilt back in the day the big thing was him scoring 100 pts in a game. MJ would destroy Wemby in the 90s and the late 80s. There’s ppl who care what happened with Isiah, idrgaf (respectfully) only because he deserved being shi**ed on, especially the way that Isiah and the Pistons did the rest of the league. When I think of great two way players in baseball I think of Willy Mays, and George Brett not someone like Dave Kingman or whatever player is just filling a lineup spot. Scottie had Brooks Robinson defense and his kind of offense…he didn’t score 50 or 60 but he did 20s and 30s and he did score 47 pts in one game, he was way above what an average player would be. The credentials to be the GOAT would be someone like Ken Griffey jr. he won HR titles, gold gloves every year from 89 to 98 he was the Jordan of baseball but…no championships. Derek Jeter in the 90s had a lot of hits but his glove wasn’t the best. But he had the winner mindset and was clutch. It’s hard but not so much in basketball because Jordan was all those rolled in one.

and that point of view also explains the betrial he felt while watching the Last Dance documentary. he felt betrayed in 95 when Phil chose Tony over him for the last shot. than betrayed again in the documentary when MJ chose to show Sottie weak moments over TONS of moments when he showed up and delivered. like in the 98 finals, when he still played with an injured back!

Like I said, Pip can be replaceable in the Bulls team but MJ isnt. Pip was just lucky that he was kept by the Bulls, what if, Horace was the one that Bulls kept and not him, will he be developed to what he is? I dont think so, MJ was the one who pushed him to be great, imagining every practice game that he has to guard the best player of the game so he can be the best defender of the game, if that was halted cause he wasnt kept by the Bulls, i dont think Pip will be recognized as top 50 players of all time just like he is right now.
