I've had the skeletons for 3 years now with 2 step aider. If you want a shorter step like I have short legs you can unbolt the lower steps and move them up in the many holes. They are great. Stack them, then take last amsteel line and wrap all the way around all sticks and tie off.
Went out with them today. They are nice. Trouble-free , easy to mount on the tree. A snap to stack and solid. I was a fan when I was practicing on the tree in my yard but am really a big fan now. Wish they were a bit lighter but they aren’t too bad. Interesting idea on shortening them. I don’t have the longest legs so a few inches off the bottom wouldn’t hurt that’s for sure. Thanks for the tip!
I use the hawk minis, but use a ropemod. The way I tie them off theres no need to switch from the button that comes with them. The minis stacking method was a little tough to pull apart until I trimmed the lip of the suction cup or female side using an xacto knife. I've been using the hawks quite alot for several years, and have found them to be plenty durable. Not sure I'd like the orange tabs where you have to line up 4 total pieces to get them to stay together. My hawks are usually stuck in the tree when I try to remove them too. Maybe if I ever need new sticks I'll check out the tethrd only for a few extra ounces and a slightly tighter stack height. Thanks for the review.
Good deal. I know a lot of people love them and they do get a beat up on a lot. I think that’s because they are the cheap sticks and everyone thinks if their cheap, they must be bad. Makes them an easy target. That’s why I didn’t beat them up in the video. I don’t have a problem with mine, I just like the Skeletors better. Like I said, I’m keeping mine for that extra set. Honestly, I may set a couple of them up on trees that I hunt on a regular basis for my top two steps and just leave them. Would allow me to only carry two skeletors and cut my weight even more. Thanks for watching! Appreciate the feedback. 👍
The hawk helium steps have bent on most of mine. The steps bent right at the joint where they fold. Now the steps don't close. I'm only 5'10" 185#. Just my experience with the product.
That sucks!!! Sorry to hear it. I made the change this year. Too many people with too many issues on the Hawk Heliums. There are some people that have had good luck but I didn’t want to keep pushing my luck. So far I’m happy with the move to the Skeletors other than I wish I would have gone with a lighter weight solution. I may be investing in some Latitude Carbon sticks or the Tethrd One sticks. Like to get down to around a pound per stick.
@tradbowtimewithubcledan2686 - I agree! So far it’s been spot on. Torques down hard. It’s still in good shape and hasn’t given me any concerns. I can see replacing it every couple of years. I do agree though. It feels like clothesline rope! Lol! 😂
To make the amsteel tighter to the stick. Take the amsteel off stick. Find the loop, reach through the loop with 2 fingers to grab a bight of amsteel and pull through to make another loop. At that point the loop uou made by pulling a bite put that over the cleat and pull tight. Its more secure and doesn't move. Give it a try. " gurth hitch"
Instead of wrapping the straps around the stick on the hawk. Try putting it around the stand offs and taking the bungee on the end and put that around the stand off and it will work a lot better
@@labradorshalladore4966 - if you are implying that I got these for free, you are sorely mistaken. I wish I got free products. Lol! Nope bought and paid for. With only 313 current subscribers, that’s not even a possibility. 😂 thanks for the laugh!!! Now if you want to give me one of those adorable Lab puppies I’ll be more than happy to make a video introducing my new dog! I’ll even give you all the credit! 👍
Thanks for the video!
Hope it helps! Thanks for watching!

@@BluePawWorkshop you don't have to cut, keep that in mind. Simple shortening 😁👍
@@brianscustomcanvas1911 - gotcha. Thanks again for the tip!

Man that rope looks so small, I know it must be strong though. Just looks like something I pull my bow or gun up with.

Will do! I’ll try that. Sounds like it would be a much tighter solution!

If the straps are around the stand off, doesn't that interfere with the stacking?
@@BluePawWorkshopk it doesn't mine
This is how I do it as well, works alot better
I wrap mine around the stand offs as well.
Looks like more free products all you have to do is make a UA-cam video
