And none of those stats are light either. Only female artist to ever win 3 AOTYs, multiple platinum records, massive stadium tours, etc. She IS the industry.
That’s because mentioning those stats won’t fit the narrative at all. This video claims she’s “the music industry” because she’s good at story telling and donates to charity, which I’m not denying but every artist tells a story with their music. And a lot of rich people donate to charity mostly so they can write it off on their taxes, but no matter the reason donating is always a good thing. Winning 3 aoty awards, although record breaking, is not nearly as impressive as as Beyoncé winning her 28th Grammy, breaking yet another record. And As far as tour sales she’s currently #16 for highest grossing tour in just the past decade which is still incredible, charting at #16 is better than not charting at all, but it’s not worthy of being labeled “the music industry”. He didn’t mention those things not because he didn’t need to but because he couldn’t if he was going to spin this narrative.

I feel so bizarrely protective of this woman (strange as she’s a stranger) but I guess that’s the point. She doesn’t feel like a stranger. Her art and the way she stands up for herself and views the world speaks to me on such a personal level that I feel like I know her. Which I don’t. She’s the only artist I can think of who’s music genuinely saved me when I was in a dark place. I’ve got this girls back. Forevs.
@Mmm M omg. why would you even call her that. + its a terrifyingly sexist name. taylor can do whatever she wants, people who judge her like you should shut up. its honestly getting so old, at least be creative with your insults. plus, taylor's music has saved millions of people.
@Mmm M im talking from personal experience, her music pulled me out of a really dark place, not just me, but a lot of people i know. she is way too successful for people to be pulling her down. i dont see you as a priest trying to judge her based on her religious views and if she's 'actually christian' or not. I'm not a christian, but if there's one thing I'm sure of, it's that Christianity teaches people how to be kind to others, not to insult them. 'wh*re' is considered a sexist insult to too many people. Why do you even call her that? because she had 'a lot' of boyfriends (how many boyfriends is too much anyways? and who decides on that?), i dont see you judging Leonardo Di Caprio for dating girls 20 years younger than him and dumping them when they turn 25, or is it just for women? People like you, who waste hours hating on someone they don't even know, should find something better to do. Like idk, go read the bible or something if you're that offended
i feel you.. coz I was so worried for her when news brike she might be dating that sport guy, I am so.sorry forgottsn his name.. I am so worried she'll get hurt(again) .. I hope he'll be good to her.. i seriosly do..
THANKS GOSH u reminded everyone of the FULL video of the K*anye phone call because a lot of people are still unaware and hating on her about it for no reason
I'm still surprised how many people don't know about the full video surfacing online! I think if more people knew they might be more willing to be less spiteful. :)
Her association with superstar KANYE⭐️ is the reason we even know about her. She had one lil’ ol’ country song, got an award🙄, and would’ve gone away. Her string of famous boyfriends further got her on the map and her many, many feuds with more real artists. Mean and ruthless she is, this petty pretty girl. In the time and age of advanced technology, her obsessed fans are helping her break records, but I will never consider her an ‘artist’ or a ‘songwriter’.
I remember crying when I heard the first verse of Call It What You Want for the first time because she was not very active on Social Media for Reputation, she was quiet for so long, and then she released Reputation - quite an angry, dark album. But that verse was like a message to the fans - I'm okay, don't worry. And those of us who actually listen to the whole record - not only LWYMMD - knew the truth. She was okay, she was content and in love. And I love that in her storytelling. She releases her albums, makes the single these radio hits but in between, we get a brilliant storyteller and songwriter. I think Folklore and Evermore were the first albums that people who were not fans of her actually appreciated start to finish. And now that's what is happening to Red (TV). I hope that with the rest of the rerecordings more people will appreciate the alumbs they spelt on before *cough* reputation *cough* (lol)
🥺🥺 I love when I hear about music inspiring people to learn languages. It helped me learn more of my Japanese, Korean, and French! I’m happy she was able to make such an impact on your life! May I ask what is your first language?
She is the music industry because she understands how the industry works, that's why some of her weakest songs (lyrics and songwriting) still make the top 10, example: WANEGBT, 22, Shake it off, LWYMMD, Me! etc. It's kinda amazing to know that people, who only listen to her releases on the radio, think her songwriting is shallow and yet she still tops the charts with those. She gives fans the real gems in her albums 😂
True... HAHAHAHA Her real fans are the only ones to deserve hearing the Getaway Car, Cruel Summer, The Way I love You, and so many more. BTW All Too Well was not a hidden gem anymore. HAHHAHAHA
"Taylor Swift can't play the victim and the villain" man, this is freaking real life, not a superhero movie, most people are an amalgam of those things. WTF
This is because the west believes in "Binary opposition." In other words, the west has a black and white, strong and weak narrative throughout the history if you look carefully. And as a result, the cancel culture is growing rapidly. This is the reason why I prefer the eastern philosophy of binary unison. There's no good and bad kinda narrative. Anyway, it's already a long comment now. Have a nice day.
@@rachsmith3479 i'm from "the east" and a philosophy nerd and you're right. most eastern philosophies do not deal with absolute virtues like a lot of european ideologies do... both good and bad resides in everyone is the core idea of asian and south asian cultures. west seems to be interested in this notion that people are either good or bad and i've always found it flawed. that being said, TS isn't the only one people tried to drag down the mud, she just never responded to the ones trying to and only spoke in ways that are "polite" and diplomatic which is why people got louder and louder about her until reputation came out . that's when she just didn't care and started speaking up where she deemed necessary and while people still yell nonsense about her, she indirectly answers when she feels like, leaving them powerless.
@@saloni.sharma So true! The whole black and white narrative these Europeans have put up out there is just ridiculous, quite frankly. Taylor may not be the perfect person (just as any of us), but she isn't evil or manipulative as people say either. And I'm from East too. ✋ Nepal.
@@rachsmith3479 Great! We're neighbors! I'm from India :D And yes, people have such extreme false narratives about her for no evident reason. People aren't good or bad, they're both and so is she. Anyone who understands human psyche would know this by now but people just choose to be ignorant.
Taylor indeed is the music industry there is no question why, because everytime she comes out of her shell she's becoming more better even her re-recordings..every album era is a masterpiece..
Agreed with all points but i am biased since i am a Taylor swift Stan! But my fav Taylor Swift album of all time is folklore because it speaks to me on such a deep and personal level
and it was done during the pandemic. . it helped me so much. you can listen to her music 1000 times - even while your husband jokes about that! Can't help it... her music goes places in me
She is not as vocally powerful as other artists but despite that she made the best out of the voice she got and inspires everyone that they can sing no matter what singing voice they have. She is simply relatable. She's simply the best.
Thats why I believe she is a great musician and not a singer. She loves to make music by taking part in the whole process of making her own music and not just singing.
Til this day I still don't understand why people think being able to hit really high notes equals a good artist. Being an artist requires way more than vocal ability.
As what Kelly Clarkson said "A singer doesn't need to be the loudest, A singer needs to be heard and be connected with" idk why her haters always dragged her vocals like yes she can't be Mariah nor Whitney but does it matter? I personally prefer her soft, sweet and delicate voice when singing rather than those belters because i felt relaxation, peace & comfort hearing her voice which is the main reasons why i listens to music in the first place and thats why i prefers artist like her (the corrs, six-pence nin the richer, cigarette after sex) and some other acoustic/mellow/indie and country artist.. Also her lower notes are under appreciated she has one if he best lower register vocals I've heard in an artist 😊
I saw TS in concert many years ago when she was an opening act (together with Kelly Pickler) for Brad Paisley. That was my introduction to her, and I've loved her ever since. She's a true artist and has been fun to watch her grow and change through the years. I am so proud of her.
"Lover". I mean, its impossible to pick a fave album. But if pressed, I'm happy to say Lover. First album she owns. Over the top pop with shades of Folklore/Evermore foreshadowing. Great video btw!
i think sonically folklore and evermore are the most confident I have seen taylor but conceptually reputation is just amazing, and all the songs are so fun to dance to.
Speak Now. I actually get anxious when I think about the rerecording of that one. The layers of the instrumentation on that MONSTER of an album are so epic, I'm scared that she won't be able to replicate them. Same with Rep. Those albums are perfect, I wouldn't touch a single thing about them.
I can't believe you made this video BEFORE Midnights and the Eras Tour. If there was any doubt back then about her statut as The Music Industry, there's isn't anymore.
haha I know right? She's grown EVEN MORE since this video was published! I just posted my thoughts on The Tortured Poets Department (ya know, a casual 4 nearly 5 albums later hahaha)
Even though I know almost most of these facts, I legit cried because I feel so bad for Taylor for everything she had to went through and feel so proud of her for everything she is.
I feel like people have been sooo unfair to her, she has literally done nothing worng inn my opinion, you can even call her a role model and you cant do it with any other celebrity...everybody has done something horrible but Taylor has literally done nothing, I dont understand why people hated her soo much, it was ridiculous, I remember people hating on her even when she did donatipns...thats crazy, I love how classy she is and she always tells her story in her music, and I really respect that and my favorite Taylors album is reputation:)
Lover was the album that made me a fan of her and led me to listen to her other albums. I wish I was a fan of her earlier cos she’s so amazing at what she does
Taylor really pulled me into the music scene. Some say I'm obsessed, but I think I have a certain taste in music and there's a dearth of really beautiful things that also cater to people like me in the market right now. The fact that Taylor has reinvented herself SO MANY times really brings all sorts of people together through her music. On top of that, it also widened my range while staying in my comfort zone.
Thank you! 🥺 I really appreciate you coming and checking out my full video. TikTok clips are hard cuz I have to leave out so much 😭 I appreciate you watching. 🙏🏻💚
i don't know how taylor is gonna rerecord reputation. I mean it's not just about music but the emotions, the anger, the frustration, the vibe; how will she bring all of that back to her heart which is now filled with love and peace (hopefully). It is either not gonna feel the same as original or it is gonna be really emotionally exhausting for taylor to rerecord it.
i think she can easily use her anger and frustation from having her masters taken away from her to get the same vibe, so many songs of her have changed meanings now that that happened (ie. Change, which was about her old record label but i think we can all agree that after Taylor's Version, is about her journey with the rerecordings and the fans) obviously she's in a great place right now, but we have to remember a lot of songs from Reputation is about the start of her and Joe's relationship and would mean a lot more now that they've been together for so long.
Red tv she was everything I hoped she'd be and more! Love all her albums though grew up listening and the nostalgia from the re-release is overwhelming 🖤
I saw a bit of Taylor Swift in Avicii as well, with how he combined story writing with his EDM beats, some of the influences they both left behind can still be found in the music industry to this day. Just sad that Avicii is no longer with us.. So glad Taylor managed to fight her demons.
Reputation. That is the album that really introduced me to Taylor's genius (I'm old, so I missed the early works lol, but had a great time catching up). Tied with Evermore, because the writing there is so, so mature. BTW, you presented a fantastic overview on her career. I agree on all points. Taylor has caught up to her own talent, and thrived where many would have crumbled. No easy feat for anyone, let alone someone who was scrutinized at every step, every note, and every word.
I am a guy in my 60s. I grew up listening to Motown Soul and later, in the 1970s, rock music (what is now called Classic Rock). Yes, most of what I listen to is 40+ years old. But I do like some modern music, and Taylor Swift is one of my favorites. I have all her old albums and will be acquiring all the "Taylor's Versions" soon enough. Yes, I am an old white guy, I have a beard, I ride a Harley, and I am not afraid to admit that I am a Taylor Swift fan.
My favorite Taylor Swift album of all time is the one and only - The Reputation. I am waiting for the day when we will finally get this masterpiece of Taylor's version
I actually talked about that on TikTok! I think Reputation (Taylor’s Version) is going to be a pop culture moment like we haven’t seen before. The true story of the album is actually going to be heard by all the people who hated her back when it originally came out -that’s going to be incredible. I mean.. imagine the vault tracks 😳😱🤯
This is so well worded. You did a great job of getting to the point right away and making sure it all was easy to understand for people that don’t follow Taylor that closely.
well said. Taylor has been handling most of the aspects of her business masterfully while staying true to herself and being an actual role model to the people who pay attention.
My favorite album would have to be 1989 followed by Reputation, with the new version of Red rapidly climbing up the ladder. She's such a great artist, and I'm so grateful to see her get proper recognition nowadays after the crap that was thrown at her for years because of misogyny. Great recap of why she is the music industry in 2021
Sitting here smiling like an idiot during that closing monologue😂 I've never been one to care much about a celebrity outside of their work but I want nothing but good things for her and this video genuinely makes me so happy😭
She is, without a doubt, the smartest person in music right now. A combination of the catchiness and genius of The Beatles, and the genre-bending brilliance of Bowie. On the flip side, we have artists like Kanye West who made a fortune sampling other, better artists, to make his fortune. And then had the audacity to not only degrade music permanently (e.g. autotune), but also throw not one, but two rabbit punches at her for no reason other than because he wanted to. I have absolutely no doubt that she will be remembered as one of the all-time greats.
Hahahahahahahahaha WoW after a while her fans Will say she IS God, she IS a normal singer with a normal voice, she IS not aretha, even lana del rey have better writting than her
@@JonathanMillerMusic That’s a tough ask, but if I had to pick 5, I’d go with Dancing With Our Hands Tied, Don’t Blame Me, I Did Something Bad, King of My Heart & Call It What You Want… I honestly love all of the songs, there’s only 2-3 I could do without that I normally skip. Those are So It Goes, Gorgeous and This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things.
It’s so ironic how people in 2016 thought this girl who have been very honest talking to you and telling public about her breakup, her life everything, needed to lie for a petty person’s phone call? People were just waiting for this opportunity. You can’t bring her down. SHE IS THE MUSIC INDUSTRY.
I discovered Taylor Swift through her album Fearless and I kept collecting her music ever since. I've been impressed by her authenticity and knack for creating great music. It seems like everything she touches turns to gold and your video really sums it up! It's hard to say which album is my favorite but I think if I had to choose, it would be "Folklore". I do have to admit, I can hear a country sound deep inside of some of her music long after she went pop. . If you carefully listen to "Lover" for example, a good portion of the songs could easily be remixed to sound country... and of course her two folk albums "Folklore" and "Evermore" say a lot about her roots. She could switch over to country anytime she wishes and I don't think anyone would even blink. She's that good.. Pop or Country, she definitely is the "music industry".
Just read this section now .I'm a 69 Yr old swiftness who followed her and Ed sheeran. Your article is enlightening and easy to follow.i like your delivery of the swift era and in particular her generosity and she does it on her own terms and when she is finished re recording taylors versions she will be able to do loads of advertising not that she needs to but so bye bye scooter .Good luck to you sir I will be following your mail as I am trying to find more .I love reading and listening to the hard work.
You don't seem like a 69yr old - maybe you did a typo and meant 6 or 9yrs old. Nobody who is older than 16 can like this cookie-cutter crap. Unless they have some mental issues.
I fell out during Lover, but came back during Midnight Rain AND REALIZED I MISSED OUT COMPLETELY ON FOLKLORE, that has to be my favorite album now. I love Folklore.
Folklore! It was the album I always knew she had in her but was afraid I wouldn’t get. Thank god for Aaron Dessner who motivated her to get there. And I thought folklore was going to be it… then she doubled-down and gave me evermore. That said, 10 min version of All Too Well is a masterpiece.
Of all time? It always and has been Red. Folklore and Evermore did challenged that but I figured that is still Red. Now that Red (Taylor's Version) is out, it just cemented Red in the top spot - but Taylor's Version. My Holy Trinity in the Red original was Treacherous, Holy Ground and The Lucky One and it still the same with the rerecorded one. However, my favorite vault track from Red is Run. This songs makes me want to run away from home with my imaginary boyfriend. Next fave is Message In A Bottle.
I gotta admit - Taylor's country songs are close to my heart, they made me a fan of her when I was a teen, and when "1989" came out I did like it... But at the same time I started to drift away from her. The re-recordings are a great way for me to immerse myself in her music again. Who knows, I might even finally check out the albums that were released after "1989". To answer your question, my favourite album by Taylor is "Speak Now". The fact that at 19 years old she wrote all of the songs on that album by herself, the maturity of the lyrics... I just love everything about it :)
I recommend you to check out her latest two albums, folklore and evermore, both were released last year. It both are not like anything she had done before, it's not a pop album, nor fully country music, but indie-alternative-folk inspired records, with incredible lyrics and story-telling. And both of them are considered as her masterpiece, especially folklore, it won a Grammy for Album of the Year at the latest ceremony. Trust me, you'll in love with it.
I remember hearing “Tear drops on my guitar” in 2007 on pop radio and loved her ever since. Despite not really being into country music, she captivated me.

@Mmm M omg. why would you even call her that.
Reputation will always be my favorite album of hers. I was always a fan but that album made me a full fledge swiftie.
Reputation is honestly THAT album. I love it sooooooooo much!

For me it was Red, but Reputation was so iconic.

As someone who jumped on during Speak Now, I’d LOVE to know more why Rep resonated so much?? Just curious!
THANKS GOSH u reminded everyone of the FULL video of the K*anye phone call because a lot of people are still unaware and hating on her about it for no reason
I'm still surprised how many people don't know about the full video surfacing online! I think if more people knew they might be more willing to be less spiteful. :)

@@catsinwonderland7473 he himself does like that name anymore 😂
This is why she has a huge audience because it’s just soft people that can relate. And there’s lots of soft people in this world
Miss Americana gives an in-depth view of what happened, her mental state and trauma. She deserves everything in life.❤️
She IS a human so calm down
I just remember being a kid I used to hear her songs without understanding English at that time, I got interest in English music just because of her
🥺🥺 I love when I hear about music inspiring people to learn languages. It helped me learn more of my Japanese, Korean, and French! I’m happy she was able to make such an impact on your life! May I ask what is your first language?

Country or pop, I don't care. Anything she creates is magic regardless of the genre in my book! I have full respect and admiration for Taylor!
My favourite TS album is 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and yes it isn’t even probably finished yet but I KNOW that’s my favourite album of all time.
I FEEL THAT SO HARD. The world is not ready for 1989 (Taylor’s Version) BUT I SURE AM 🙋🏼♂️🙋🏼♂️🙋🏼♂️🙋🏼♂️🙋🏼♂️
HAHHAHAHA
Her songwriting and lyricism is amazing!!!!!!

@@rachsmith3479 Great! We're neighbors! I'm from India :D
And yes, people have such extreme false narratives about her for no evident reason.

Yessss!!! Folklore is my all time fav album too.
and it was done during the pandemic. . it helped me so much. you can listen to her music 1000 times - even while your husband jokes about that!
Can't help it... her music goes places in me
I can’t make myself choose between Folklore, Red TV or Lover it’s impossible to compare them to me
She is not as vocally powerful as other artists but despite that she made the best out of the voice she got and inspires everyone that they can sing no matter what singing voice they have.
@@Thisworldisagoner i’d say shes a good singer but not a vocalist

Omg this video screams accuracy about taylor swift. We appreciate you for doing this. Love this
Even though I know almost most of these facts, I legit cried because I feel so bad for Taylor for everything she had to went through and feel so proud of her for everything she is.
Thinking about how taylor was technically an indie artist but she quickly grew out of it despite still being under an indie label
She's fucking brilliant. Period.
What made her really iconic are her comebacks for sure!! She always came back stronger than the 90s trends, just like a queen. PERIOD.
Saw your tik tok with the snippet and was intrigued. Not disappointed. Great Video!
My dream is that Taylor is somehow able to buy her master's before she has to rerecord rep.
i think she can easily use her anger and frustation from having her masters taken away from her to get the same vibe, so many songs of her have changed meanings now that that happened (ie.
Same! She really outdid herself on RedTV though. It hits so different and feels really special.
Because she never antagonize her fans and always makes sure to dedicate her success to people she loves, especially her fans.
I saw a bit of Taylor Swift in Avicii as well, with how he combined story writing with his EDM beats, some of the influences they both left behind can still be found in the music industry to this day. Just sad that Avicii is no longer with us.. So glad Taylor managed to fight her demons.
My dad said she is still going strong. Even people who don’t listen to her can say that she is still killing it after so many years.
The edit is so well done! You truly tell your story through those shots!
Thank you! Glad u enjoyed it!!
God I almost cried because sometimes I forget the things that she and us went through amidst all the re recording fun
Taylor Swift is the most genuine person on the planet
1989. I don't think I'll ever have another take its place as my favourite. I'm totally obsessed with this album.
You have to be big brained to fully get all the layers of reputation. This why is rep stans are elite 🐍👑

Great recap of why she is the music industry in 2021
I think my best Taylor Swift Album is and would be "1989 (Taylor's Version)"
Sitting here smiling like an idiot during that closing monologue😂
I've never been one to care much about a celebrity outside of their work but I want nothing but good things for her and this video genuinely makes me so happy😭
Don’t compare the genious Bowie to Taylor. Lol

It both are not like anything she had done before, it's not a pop album, nor fully country music,
but indie-alternative-folk inspired records, with incredible lyrics and story-telling.
And both of them are considered as her masterpiece,
