This was as much a display of these three people's character as it was anything else, being so genuinely excited for each other's success, and that made it so much more gratifying to watch.

It was rigged, they were probably loosing viewers by the handful, so suddenly giving out 10k plus to each player would draw people back into it wanting to chance it themselves

For those of you in the Comments Section who are confused about why these three contestants were so happy for each other and did the elated big group hug...it was the fact that hitting $1.00 on the wheel three times in a row is such a statistical improbability, and they all knew they were making game show history. So they were celebrating together, accordingly. And all three of them were comforted by knowing, even though only one of them could make it to the Showcase Showdown, that all three of them would still be going home with $10,000 each in their pockets (more, for the first two contestants). Just because they were thrilled for each other didn't change the fact that obviously each of them still wanted to be the one who ultimately won the spin-off for the chance to compete in the final Showcase.

I used to work security on the price is right stage and the prize lot where they kept all of the prizes they gave out on TV including all the brand new cars. They even usually kept the keys inside the ignition especially if they were going to be used that day on the show. I got paid to guard that wheel and I can honestly say it is NOT RIGGED. I spent many nights investigating that big ass wheel and there is no motor or brake on it. But it does have a locking mechanism on it to keep people like me from spinning that shit all night. It's big af partially made of wood and rickety sounding just yanking on it. Comparable to an old school roller coaster ride at six flags or a carnival. Also I seriously doubt it makes that digital beeping sound like we hear on tv when you spin it. I never got to see a live tv taping. I only worked nights & graveyard on the stage while they sometimes filmed Y&R next door.
Thanks for clearing that up. It has been a cause for debate for decades. I remember watching TPIR back in the 70's / 80's. I'm a security officer also, and I wouldn't mind working a site like that.

That reminds me of some good times playing blackjack. The table is winning, the dealer keeps busting, and everyone is happy. Everyone is cheering each other on including the dealers (because they are getting tipped). The only people unhappy are the casino.
Reminded me of Data playing dice against an imaginary hotel casino. Data, Riker, and Worf won lots of "uncashable" money, bought the casino and the hotel, distributed the leftover winnings to the "happy" casino patrons.. and went back to the Enterprise. LOL 😂😂😂😂
