Living full-time in my rolling tiny home has been the best decision of my life. Off-Grid living offers a peace and connection to life that you just can't explain. When i first started van life i build a stealth camper van with the mindset the you had to live a stealth van life and i soon discovered that you can just live the city van life and boondock in the countryside and as long as you are respectful of the backcountry and cities you live in. Stealth van life in not necessary. Be proud of the life you choose to live, Share this van life journey with everyone. Remember Tiny Homes and The whole tiny house lifestyle is very popular and #vanlife is no different. When you don't hide it people will come say hi and ask you questions. The world is more curious than hateful. Well......Welcome to my everyday van life adventures. My name is Chrome Valdez and i travel full-time with Cruz the bulldog. Stay weird everyone and thank you for being here.
People, like here who had hit the like button before watching the video
Home Sweet Home! So happy to see you creating the home you want on wheels!
Next upgrade I suggest changing that roof fan for an AC unit LOL.
Put stickers on the bucket bro.✌❤❤✌
It's 46 Celsius here in Vegas, come on out 😂😂😂
Super exciting video, Chrome! I'm wanting to do this too. Now I know how easy it is. Thanks!
Get some Window Louvers for the Rear Doors. Look cool on there.
Very nice, well done!
Man, looks so different , love it
These swivel seats are sold out on amazon. Where did you purchase yours?
Super stoked about your seat! Hey just a thought.. what if you get a storage ottoman with the lid to put your poo bucket in. I have one and they are super sturdy. I got mine on Amazon. If you put a board on the inside you could install wheels on the bottom of the ottoman..it would be multi functional. Poo bucket, foot rest and seating..you could sit on it and roll around your van. If the bucket is too tall just find a bucket that would fit inside the ottoman. It would be hidden out of site. Also, would be taller with wheels. 👍 Just an idea lol 💡
Kristi Miranda Art I was thinking the same the other day, spooky!
Natalie VW great minds think alike, ehh 🧐☺️
I puchased a fancy fold down ottomon 19$ , as a seat will hold 100kg.. only put my shoes in it and use it for a foot rest. But it would be perfect for dunny.
Barb A Im sure it will work. Mine is a fold down as well. I currently have my shoes in mine and use it as a foot rest too😊I’m well over 100kg and I sit on mine all the time. They are really sturdy for thick card board. I mentioned putting a board inside to attach wheels to the bottom. That might make it hold up even better.
It helps so much to actually see someone install something from start to finish like that. I’m not that handy but I’m totally convinced I could handle it. Thanks so much for filming it for us. You’re wrong, it was really exciting and we are excited for you! Love how you appreciate every step in the building/upgrading of your home!
A little smackage? Is that a technical term?? 🤣
Yeap and used by all mechanics everywhere... 😆 jk
Yes, every tradey is familiar with a little smackage. Nomenclature varies by region, around here we say 'a little attitude adjustment" and similarly refer to a hammer as an 'attitude adjuster' lol.
Pick up some washers and stack them under the plate to fill the gap to the floor rather than tightening them to the point of bending the lower plate. You'll have less stress on the bolts and a more solid install. Typically when a van conversion company installs swiveling captains chairs they first weld a plate or mounts to the floor to make it level.
I thought about it when he was cutting the floor.lol
Might have to find a new place for Cruz's dishes or visitors might think they are for a pedicure.
I would rather use flat metal pieces with the same length/height as the base. And then as extra safety drill a new hole in the middle for a new bolt.
It looks to me like the thick part of the rubber bushings should have been under the new seat base... 7:50
@@bradseward8342 The issue is the ribs of the floor(formed into it to increase rigidity like the core of corrugated cardboard). The original seat base dropped down between the raised sections(see the indents at 3:25) where as the swivel base is completely flat. Whether the rubber liner was above or below the seat base would have only made a marginal difference. The new base can compress the rubber and sound deadener underneath it, but either the steel floor or the steel base has to give for the two to meet.
1 #LiveYourPassion Luv you Chrome and Cruz !! Normal Life Sucks !! What's Up Weirdos !! #FindYourFreedom ❤️ 🌞 🚐 🇺🇸 🐾 🐾 DISCO, you will forever be in my heart !! ❤️
The swivel seat will be a comfortable game changer. Better than a recliner. Smoking hot of 115 here in Phoenix. Go weirdos had swivel seats in my class A and expands living space seating. I'd do the divers seat also.
I know Im randomly asking but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account..?
I stupidly lost my account password. I love any help you can offer me
@Gus Kian Instablaster ;)
@Theodore Silas I really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@Theodore Silas It worked and I finally got access to my account again. I am so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my account !
@Gus Kian Glad I could help :D
I've been trying to talk myself into one of these. But in my previous van I put one in. With my current van I just turned the seat around and bolted it down. Saved a bunch of money, and rarely think it would be nice to turn it around. And if I do need to turn it around, it's a 5 minute job. More hassle yes, but about 300 bucks in my pocket.
Ripp Snortin, Bought used swivels, holes didn't match. Three people attempted it. Problem was they were middle passenger seat swivels. My front bolts are 11". Back bolts 9:. Tool and die man said he could weld pieces on the 9" side. He was doing it as a favor and I felt it would be too much work. Did your reverse bolts match?
@@johnettew3957 3 of them match up. The one that doesn't is still clamping down on the edge.
I just used your link to purchase a Jackery 500
If I had the cash, I'd get a Sportsmobile Van. They are super cool. I have spent much time on their website....thanks for the install video. Now that I have the Chevy Express instead of the minivan. It is on my "want" list to have a swivel. I honestly didn't see the point in the minivan.
Dawn, now that you have new wheels, you can remake it awsome!
You have wanted one of those for quite awhile. Or at least it was on your list of future needs/wants that you put out awhile aho. Awesome Chrome.
"I don't know what I'm doing, but that's the best part." Love it.
from south africa.... did the installation meet the universal German specification..... GOOTENTIGHT ?
Chrome for those of us who have been with you since the beginning, I don't think any of us care if you made your bed🤣😂. We basicly live with you at this point lol. 😉😘😘😘
Some disco hair under the seat for sure👍🏼🐶
Sweet.....fantastic idea to reclaim and multipurpose that passenger seat!! Now don't forget to check into a "Winch", you know...just in case kinda thang.
Come to Connecticut, USA! I have two bulldog puppies Cruz can play with!
I get notification I hit play. Love the videos chrome
*super cool I need on just like this*
*do you have the link to the base*
Now you need to contact dometic about a nice dual section fridge...
You were totally capable to host friends in the van already with the folding stool i got you.
That was one of the reasons I sent it to you and to save your knees. ...lol...silly man.
Yes, a modified luggable loo,
...just don’t tell your guest he’s sitting on your shitter.
Dude I’d need a torch, and two men and a mule to break the the bolts on my crusty old ford 150. Now you can take the old mount and bolt it to your roof for extra passengers. 🤣☮️❤️😎
“Perfectly lined up holes”. That’s what she said.
😂
“And a little smackage.” That’s what she said.
😆
😳🤣🤣
😂😳🤪
Dude! I’ve been waiting for this day for you for some reason! Congratulations on the new addition 🙌
Finally a swivel... bout time Chrome!
What was the website you got the swivel set from?
Excellent choice to do great for cruz👍🏻
Can someone please tell me how to remove a seat from a 2001 Dodge Ram van. Or possibly know of a company that I can reach out to that would do that for me.
I have a feeling that swivel seat is going to be something you wish you did a LONG time ago!
Chrome, when I was struggling to pick a floor material, you convinced me to go with a roll-out! I stood in Home Depot trying to pick the best style for me for quite a while... watching this video, I realized I picked the same one as you! Floor bro’s! Thank you!
What’s Cruz think about it??
#VanlifeMatters #WeirdosUnite👍🍺💯
I love how excited you get. I could only hope to run into some day and share a beer and a few stories. You are an inspiration.
I definitely need one of those.
Me to 😊 I always thought that my seat was too big to swivel. Love it!
Terri Lynch My Life I have a ram b2500 van so I just need to find the one that fits for me or just modify one. Either way it really makes a difference in usable space.
Sportsmobile also converted the old VW Busses until VW STARTED MAKING the tops that tilted instead of raising straight up so they could make them without infringing on Sportsmobile patent. They couldn’t sell imported cargo vans in the U.S. for trade laws. Yeah they’ve been around a while.
Chrome brother.....you don’t know hot.....come on down to Mississippi and I’ll show you hot......97 degrees with 110 % humidity.......yea
I want to instill swivel too
😃😃😃😃
No money under the seat? ...bummer😭
Loving the swivel seat bro 👌 hello cruz so cute 😍
I'm planning on adding a small storage box with a padded hinged top. It's a bit more storage for smalls, foot rest for the swivel seat, additional stool for company, and it can be an outside seat as well. Something milk crate size would be ideal I think.
Kris Kjellquist I have one of those that I have put a memory foam cushion on top of, using for my home office chair ... it will be coming in my van with me. It’s like a hard plastic patio storage box that I found for free by the side of the road, cleaned and painted it!
So brilliant to check the old base first! I've been wanting to do this in my Ford 250E extended van - it's was a passenger van and has walkup steps behind the passenger seat. Very cool. There is a pole there. I love that too but I think I'll have to remove it in order to turn the seat. PLEASE - where did you order the base? Sportsmobile swivel base - 'not available' wherever I look. ArghhhhhH! hahahaha. Thanks for going for it and knocking it out of the park again. Hugs!
Add a little graphite powder to the swivel base and it will move much smoother.
Just so nice to have a swivel seat that Cruz could enjoy the most. He is your co-pilot. Luv u 2.
Save the base to create another seat
Great video, maybe I missed it, who did you order your swivel from? How’s it working out?
Thanks
Nothing like working in a tight space on a hot day. Love the swivel feature and your fun approach to life! 😉🇨🇦
Love the music you use for your vids. Is that your original music?
Need to get one for my van now !!! Skål 🍺🍺🍺
Hi Chrome, I love watching all the improvements you have made to your rig. It looks super cool! Thanks for sharing!
Sticker up the poo bucket!!....yikes , that doesnt read the way I meant it,HAHHA....cover the bucket with STICKERS !
😂😂😂yeah Lord have mercy I bet Elvis has tons of hair under ours. I use my shop blower to get what I can but , yeah 👍 fur city
Did the same thing on my E350 a month ago, looks like the same base. Had the same experience, fit and works perfectly! Nice to have a useable extra seat!
I'm trying to figure out how to use a swivel that I already have for my driver seat. So far I haven't figured it out. Steering wheel gets in the way.
Chrome 2 things.....1. Replace your engine cover console it's cracked....2 get you a cordless rachet got to lowes or home depot get a Milwaukee ratchet and it make things easier for you in most cases....I did.
Awesome!
Lol... You know who's guilty of the dog hair... He's always sticking his tongue out at you ...
They make padded swivel tops for 5 gallon pails for fishing / hunting search for it in amazon for you poo bucket.
Man! That was so easy I could do it! Yay! Thanks for breaking down a wall I had. Now when I get my van I won't be afraid of putting a swivel seat in.
yOU finally did it! You instilled your swivil seat! Enjoy chrome!
I think the rubber washers go under the base to overcompensate for the ribs in the floor. 🤷🏼♂️
So just to clarify when you cut into the fooring where you had to install
the swivel base did you pull out insulation from underneath there and just push it back into place so the base would sit more flush?
$350.00 sounds like alot, but you gained a lounge that you or quests can enjoy. Its about the price of a decent lazyboy
awesome job works great 👍👍🛠️🇨🇦🛠️🇨🇦
You relay think your going to get your but in that chair, That's going to be cruzes seat.
I contacted Sportsmobile and they replied :"Unfortunately we don’t offer swivels for at home installation, they would need to be part of a conversion and installed at one of our facilities."...Sad
Are those wires really airbag wires? I just recently installed the same swivel seat on my 2005 e250 and I just chopped those wires off and capped them thinking it was just the seat belt alarm. Oh crap. Someone please help.
Shit bucket into an ottoman?? 🤔 Yuck!!!😖 But nice job on the seat install.👍🏾👍🏾
congrats on the swivel, hey i love your vids dude and you may or may not havce seen it but Backwoods Vanner has a vid on installing screens on the back and side windows, etc. I feel your uncomfort we have had a lot of 100 + degree days here in New Mexico so far this year. the vid is from Oct. 24 2015. Just a thought, i try to learn from everything and everyone....keep rolling brother.
Hi There, thank you for a very informative video on your swivel seat. Can you send me a link to vancitylife for purchase of that swivel? I don't see a link on your site. Cheers Eden
Thank you for the tip about Sportsmobile, we have a Ford Transit and would love a nice swivel seat.
Maybe you should not hook the airbag backup. It would be a horrific blow to Cruise if there was an accident. How many humans have you actually had sitting in the passenger seat in the last 3 years? Also have you ever thought about jacking up the roof so that you could stand up? I have just started my journey in Van life and my roof is about 6 in too short to stand up in. Do you think it would be worth the $4,000 or more to jack it up?
If you can get the seatback properly set where you can see your right side mirror, Cruz may like you to keep it turned around even while driving. Maybe even a step up for Cruz, Eh!
Cover your poo bucket with some indoor/outdoor carpet (in gray) and it will match just nice !!
Can the swivel be put on the driver seat? And did I miss the link for that product?
Just a thought Chrome. Not sure if Cruz would survive an airbag. Can you disable it?
Very interesting and spot on ...I keep wanting to have a swivel in my 2000 E350 Chinook rv. Will check with sportsmobile to see if it is the same one.
As I am in France I hope they ship overseas..
Thanks for sharing ,my dear fellow weirdo 😃
Anyway you’d share the link to that particular swivel? I have the same van :)
If anybody’s looking for a different place to buy the swivel seat I went to discount van truck end it worked out great.
Hey cruise...ever thot of using empty space under seat as storage....secret safe storage?
Great job.. I just love your dog .. if been watching you for a short Tim now ... if watch you get your fur baby till now. I just realize he has his own channel, thanks I can't get enough of him ... so cute he is ... like watching you and van life. Beautiful. The places I see thew you thanks I'm from ohio...in USA. I'll keep in touch. Keep smile in..lol friends.
Thanks for your personal number chrome, how come you won't answer my calls? I'm not a terrible human I swear!
👌Cruz will love it - more breathing space 😛 👍
Hey Cruz where did you get that swivel base? Would u mind posting the link?
Can’t find a parts store on the Sportsmobile site. How did you buy the seat from them?
Thanks for the video! I was wondering if the flat base would work in my van. Looks like I can order a base now.
You missed your chance for a built in throne or porcelain pew. Oh yeah taking the label off the lug-a-loo will hide its use. Ya ya it's a foot stool.
A little off topic but have you found the front seat to be uncomfortable? It seems like if I could push the seat back and inch or two further I’d be much more comfortable
Hello chrome, what brand torque wrench are you using to remove the bolts? I need to purchase that tool to install my swivel seat, thanks
Were do I find your address, so I can order some stickers? I see all the videos of you getting mail from folks, and always wanted to send for stickers. Please let me know. Thanks a million, I have been watching your Van life for at least 6 months, and cant wait to see the next one
