Great job on the vid and step by step process. I watched your vid a few times, ordered my swivel base, and about a half hour of work once the swivel arrived and it was done. Great addition and it does add a ton of options to the space. We would love to see some of your wood working skills on your next build. Video and edits take so much time and effort. We appreciate your style and well paced flow. Cheers to you and to more videos!

Excellent tutorial on the installation of the swivel especially on using tape on the holes and the airbag wires.I called around and was given different time lines from suppliers and that’s suppliers in the US ,as here in Canada no luck. As I’m here in Canada and it’s - 30 degrees centigrade I didn’t worry about the time line and was maybe hopefully expecting it in May, June . With that being said I ordered in mid January received it in 3 weeks . While reading the comments I believe someone asked if it works with the arm rest it will but with a tight fit

Thank you for this tutorial!! I couldn't imagine how it would swivel because of it striking the side trim, but now it makes sense that you have to push the seat all the way forward first. I was holding off on buying the swivel because I didn't want to risk getting stuck with useless hardware, but now I know it will work... thanks again!!! 😊

And thank you for the comment! Yeah, every swivel I've installed requires the seat to be moved forward to initiate the turn and then again to be in "relax" mode while you are hanging out. It's worth it though to have that seat, a real game changer.

Good tutorial. I have a 2007 extended E350 and ran into a serious issue. On my model there is a yaw sensor (small metal box that wire connects to) right under the seat. I bought the exact same swivel base as one in this video but since it is flat the sensor cannot stay there and I had to move it, thus it was loose but still plugged in. Long story short, it played havoc with the traction control system for a number of months, sending off alarms and service lights, at one point causing the ABS system to randomly engage brakes on one side of the van while driving and causing brakes to lock and dangerously veer to one side because the system was picking up a false perception of rolling and it tries to correct this. It took me a lot of digging to figure out the issue. Those sensors are highly sensitive to position and evidently MUST be left in factory position. I’m not sure what others have done with this issue but there seems to be little info out there about this specific issue. I either have to replace the factory base or figure out a different swivel base that will allow the sensor to stay in place. I’m not yet sure what will happen if I just leave it unconnected…

Thanks for the info. I haven't come across that sensor before so unfortunately can't help you with a troubleshoot or modification. We just installed swivels on a '13 E350 and it did not have that sensor. Could the sensor be bolted/adhered to the underside of the mounting plate?

    • @forayconcept3389

Thanks for the feedback. I think it's important to have as solid of connection as possible to the floor. By leaving any of the mat or insulation in there could allow for the base to have some movement over time and thus potential failure.

Near as I can tell, taking that rubber floor and sound insulation out is a mistake. The rubber mat protects the steel floor from spills (Rust). And the insulation is there to contain warmth or cooling inside the van and dampen road noise.

    • @forayconcept3389
      @forayconcept3389  3 роки тому +3

In my opinion there shouldn't be rubber and insulation between the steel plate and the floor. A seat base needs to be as tight to the floor as possible.

I might add. Econolines come factory wired to install 2x Group 31 batteries under the passenger side entrance. To the frame... If you need the OEM part number for the harness kit needed to complete. Let me know.. As it's a quick way to add aux batteries....The kit includes the huge ass schematic to install them..

    • @forayconcept3389

No, main concern is safety and bolting it direct to the floor is the best for that. This van in particular has many areas uninsulated and/or metal interior to metal exterior so going through the process to eliminate thermal bridging on the seat base didn't pencil out.

The seat base as shown is for the factory seat. I think there is a swivel base at shop4seats for non-OEM seats but you would still have to make modifications. The main thing here is that the factory Ford seat doesn't have a bottom that is parallel to the floor so the base is a wedge shape.

Yes, some 8-way power seats from a buick roadmaster, but on a swivel base.

The one in the video was purchased from www.shop4seats.com They have a couple month lead time at the moment but you might also look on eBay, I found my last one there for a GMC Savanah.

its been a month and shop4seats keeps pushing back my order. they're pretty much borderline fraudulent. read their reviews before you buy from them.

it took 4 months for mine, but its made after the order is complete specifically for your vehicle, they're the best online, worth the wait, but you're right it is quite a long wait.

Video was pre-COVID and the demand for these seats has really gong up. It is a wait but still one of the best I've seen for the econoline.

Was the swivel base used in this video the one with the slide rack as well? Just wondering if I need to pay the extra $20

Nope, it was just the simple base. It’s my understanding the o e with a slide is for a universal RV type seat rather than the factory seat. Thanks the watching!
