And you can even get a 2 pound container of it, which lasts me months!

For her to be able to Afford each type of tea + film would have to be done at least daily before editing and/or uploading it. for those who never consumed matcha before, I think you better go for the one that does not have a very strong flavor. because you will feel it, and provably you wont like it. Asian people consume this almost every day and from a very young age. They are accustomed to the strong taste of the matcha.
I would disagree. I'm eastern European, used to drink black tea all my life. When I first tried green tea, I did not like the taste. Until I found good loose leaf ones, high quality and purest of tastes. Then when I tried matcha, the strongest tasting ones were the ones I gravitated to. They might kick you in the face at the beginning of a sip, but then the sweet aftertaste that follows just lingers so much longer!
Ceremonial grade Matcha is always better for drinking because it tastes the best. But you can drink culinary grade Matcha too, I do all the time because it's a lot less expensive. You get the same health benefits from both. I have found Kenko brand Matcha to be really good.
The problem is, it is not regulated. Anyone can call matcha ceremonial. You have to try it and learn from others. In Australia, I buy from Zen Wonders matcha. They have an exceptional range and interestingly don't just sell the best matcha. They sell a range of quality that is appropriately priced. If you want to drink the best matcha they have, the Yukiro matcha is exceptional in every way. The matcha has no astringency, is smooth, creamy, light and earthy and leaves a gentle nutty flavour on completion of the sip. I often taste notes of raw cacao and walnuts. It is absolutely A1 grade and TRUELY a ceremonial quality 👌.
And while no studies exist that I'm aware of that compare the antioxidants of lower vs higher grade matcha, higher grade matcha had a higher level of L-Theanine content which moderates caffeine effects among all the other effects.

I think the problem I see in this video is that bitterness doesn’t equal to bad quality. And while the color is usually a good indicator, it’s not always the case. Besides that good video! Ippodo is the matcha that I always buy from Amazon.
This is true! although color can sometimes be an indicator, it is not always the case because there are different blends of matcha which can impact the color. The true indicator is the taste but it really comes down to preferences. The flavor profiles of matcha can vary between earthy, fresh, bitter tones to flowery, citrusy, mild tones. It all depends on how the tea craftsmen blend them together and the process of doing so.
Thanks so much for making this video! I’ve bought so many and I’ve noticed the color & texture differences yet many being rated the same 4.5 stars. Lately I’ve been trying the brand ‘acta’ which is higher in caffeine.

Honestly, my Matcha teas get clumpy too so here's a tip for those (esp. those who like it iced)-another method for this purpose: Use a Martini shaker and no I don't drink alcohol at all, but it surprisingly works. Add a small amt. of your milk of choice (or those who prefer it with water), then add matcha powder (depend. on how much u like, try to make a semi-equal, liqiud-matcha powder ration) and add about 1-3 ice cubes. And shake it gently for about 20-30 seconds or so. Also: Highly Recommend SHAKING this Over the Sink. When using a martini shaker, it is capable of flowing out of the top of it.
I am currently drinking the Naoki Matcha and I honestly like it a lot. It has a mild, semi-sweet scent and tastes amazing. Nice and smooth, doesn’t clump and has a nice clean, medium bodied flavor. I noticed you didn’t mention anything about the flavor or anything, except for it being too fine and the container wasn’t the best. I purchased the larger, soft package which seals well. What is your opinion on flavor of this one?
I got the Jade Leaf, pure matcha, and horai matcha bc of this video. I haven’t gotten the Horai one in the mail yet BUT the pure matcha brand is SO GOOD, It is really clumpy but making it with the traditional whisk helps dissolve it really well. After tasting both, the Jade leaf tasted more bitter and coated the mouth. The pure matcha one is just so smooth and definitely creamy like she says. Cant wait to try horai next!!
I'm new to Matcha but somebody told me about this one I get at a Japanese grocery for $10. It's the standard size I think 30 grams. It has the kind of screw down tin the lady likes, great color, organic, and not too gritty. Also really good taste and not bitter. I'll have to try the one she said was so good but I'm pretty happy with the $10 one.

If you live in the US try kettl, rishi, tea dealers or ippodo. All offer the highest quality matcha you can get in the states. Some can be expensive but you get what you pay for. Don’t buy really expensive matcha unless you intend to make it the traditional way. And do not buy from Amazon as you can’t guarantee its quality.
Nice review! I was surprised at your assessment of the Naoki match. I've tried 2 of their blends and they are the best I've had over 20 plus years of enjoying match. The Ippodo is very good...thought the Naoki was better.
I sift and whisk my matcha with 8oz of hot water & about 4oz of hot oat milk and maple syrup.. ceremonial grade is to clumpy for a latte better sifted & whisked with just water... Latte grade is better if your actually making a latte...
Hey there, Still pending to try any of these, but I have tried the Naoki Matcha before, my girlfriend and I love it. Thanks so much for this comment. Will update with the results xD

Jade leaf organic culinary is the best taste and value, when you get past that level most ppl can't notice unless they are some sort of tea sommelier professional!! I mean most ppl are bench marking off of starbucks or a local cafe flavour so you don't have to go too crazy picking it out just don't go super cheap. Ceremonial taste better because it is higher quality harvest and that is for sure not what they use when you buy a latte anywhere because it's not cheap.
thank you mentioning this. I just tried Starbucks matcha about a month ago. It was my first matcha. The thing that I noticed right off the bat was the spinach flavor. 🤣 I know it's not spinach but that green flavor is so delicious to me.
Sis, the more scent(vanilla or milky smell) means more additives they put and went to a lot of process to tweak its flavor. If you smell it slightly earthy bittery scent, it means it's nearly too pure but fast to expired and they put less preservatives.
Looking for a good matcha tea, I've never been so annoyed with noobs and novices leaving reviews. Like yeah of course you LOVE LOVE it Kelly you just said this is your first time trying matcha all together what would you know about knowing stuff😩
Question - Regardless of quality. Do they all have the same machta benefits? Or is that why quality really matters because your not getting the full benefits...
Oh thank you SO MUCH!! That means so much to me. Thank you for taking the time to comment back. So happy that you're enjoying my recommendation! I will be sure to keep you update on any future matcha products I love as I continue to test!
I've been really enjoying the "Sencha Naturals" ceremonial option "Emperor's Matcha," in the 75 gram bulk bag, (which keeps costs down.) It has such a deep, earthy, subtle "dark chocolate" like depth.
I just tried kyoto dew, i feel like the flavor is very light. I used 2 scoops and not too much water. I was expecting a very grassy taste as I have never tried match before but it was incredibly light and mellow. Is matcha supposed to not really smell or taste very grassy?
I don't buy my matcha from Amazon because there are local retailers here in the Philippines, but this was really interesting to watch! I learned a lot. And I was sitting here looking at pics of my Marukyu Koyamaen matcha being prepared smiling at the foam haha
it’s so sad how expensive matcha is in america bc i only got into it after my Japan trip. I did get to go to a Ippodo tea shop in Kyoto though since my friend asked for matcha. It only costed around $30-40 CAD i believe for 2 bags of Ikuyo in 30g and a 40g can of Sayaka.
Is FGO matcha good cuz i ordered it from amazon and it has a really fishy taste this was a while ago and now i feel that it wasnt the best brand to order from even though it had 4 stars
I've been working through my first matcha purchase; Zen no Ocha brand. It is listed as a culinary variety, but I enjoy it so far. I like it best as a "frappe".
Oh.. Well going on the Amazon reviews, I bought the Pure Chimp. I've been really enjoying it! First time buying Matcha mind. I have all the kit and loving it. What shall I try next then? What's Midori Spring like though, that looks to be a good one. A friend buys that. Bare in mind, u don't think I can spend too myhx on it. Perhaps I'll also try the Asian supermarket. Thanks. 🙏🕉️💞

I wish I had come here first. I was lucky, I bought a pretty good Matcha ,Jade Leaf Organic Matcha Green Tea Powder. ($10 Oz) It was PRICEY, but addicting. I used it in 2 days, I thought they are probably all alike so i ordered Starter Matcha Pure Organic Green Tea Powder - Culinary Grade (I think Culinary is not a good idea) It is so bitter I felt like I was being punished
I’m on a budget and you say certain brands should never be that inexpensive. What’s a reasonable price? I found a couple that I like and reasonably priced. MIGHTY LEAF and SEEIN. But I don’t see them here. MIGHTY LEAF is very popular now and served by Starbucks. @16.49 for 12 servings. SEEIN is @9.95 for 10 servings. I have become a Matcha connoisseur. The basic taste is not too important because I love using it in lattes and smoothies using other flavors. Matcha by itself is pretty NASTY. I ❤️ your videos. Thank you.
I know it's been a while but if you could compare your #2 Amazon matcha with the Chamberlain original matcha, which would you prefer? They have the same price points and grams I think.
Wait, so you have a problem with naoki's fine uji matcha because the matcha is too fine? And if it's too light maybe you added too little powder or used too much water? Your second preferred matcha, pure matcha, review states that some matcha is not fine enough and that's bad but... too fine is bad? Regarding their packaging, I emailed them once and they told me that it's better to keep the matcha in the bag to retain freshness since it comes with 40g instead of the standard 30g offered by other brands. The bigger version of 100g also comes with a zip loc bag and avoids this problem altogether Anyway I've been drinking Naoki for years and find Naoki to be the best priced for its taste value so maybe Im a little biased 😜
Hey there. I don't think you are biased at all. I do enjoy very much the Naoki matcha and have prepared it even with cold water and its very smooth and almost creamy, so I don't see how it is too fine or light. Will have to try the Ippudo just to check it out.
Can someone recommend the best quality one on Amazon UK? Many are unavailable but I've been seeing superself and purechimp. Can someone suggest what the best may be in their experience please?
I agree with her about Pure Chimp. It's pretty bad. 😝 I bought a jar of it last summer out of curiosity and her description is pretty on point. Not worth the price and the glass container allows the tea to oxidize quickly letting it become stale. I read reviews and also check the photos of the tea packaging and description to make sure the tea is grown in Japan, not China. There is a huge difference in color, quality and flavor.

@@iMaram. Right? right?
1 tsp most is recommended, so it should last a while.
Thank you so much! We don’t have macha sold in stores near me. My only option is to go to Amazon but I have no idea which one to get!
Encha stay away from ones u don't have to sift they have chemical additives
If you live in the US try kettl, rishi, tea dealers or ippodo. All offer the highest quality matcha you can get in the states. Some can be expensive but you get what you pay for. Don’t buy really expensive matcha unless you intend to make it the traditional way. And do not buy from Amazon as you can’t guarantee its quality.
Nice review! I was surprised at your assessment of the Naoki match. I've tried 2 of their blends and they are the best I've had over 20 plus years of enjoying match. The Ippodo is very good...thought the Naoki was better.
Try Encha, if u don't have to sift it your drinking chemicals.. Encha has no chemical additives
@@pleiadianstarseed2819 Good to know, thank you! I did try Encha and wasn't too impressed with the flavor. I'll try again.
I just received the Naoki in the mail
Should i buy a bamboo whisk ? I didn’t know i had to get one. Disappointing that she didn’t like it. I just started drinking matcha
omg i’m a huge matcha snob after years of searching for the best flavors and sweetness, but i started out with the chimp matcha and tasting it now i couldn’t believe i drank that !!
Repeating the other reply because I don’t think you saw it, what matcha do you recommend now?
I just want the major health benefits! Which one is the best to keep my skin and health optimal? Could all of them achieve this? I dont care about the taste, just the health benefits
Wondering the same thing
I bought several kinds, and yes, I agree with you, Ippodo is just sooooo much better! Expensive tho.
Give kettl a try as well. Best selection of Japanese teas in America.
Just ordered and used your code and I ordered from Amazon the Ippodo. Thank you for the recommendations 😀🌱
How do you like it?
I got mine today 🥺I don't know if I choose well!! Macha Man organic !! Plese is fine for drinks? I saw can be used for cooking also 😏thanks
Sis, the more scent(vanilla or milky smell) means more additives they put and went to a lot of process to tweak its flavor. If you smell it slightly earthy bittery scent, it means it's nearly too pure but fast to expired and they put less preservatives.
What if my matcha smells bitter
I like the Jade Leaf Limited Edition Ceremonial grade Master Reserve .
Looking for a good matcha tea, I've never been so annoyed with noobs and novices leaving reviews. Like yeah of course you LOVE LOVE it Kelly you just said this is your first time trying matcha all together what would you know about knowing stuff😩
Exactly when choosing among a group of products limited perspective reviews don’t help sometimes.
Question - Regardless of quality. Do they all have the same machta benefits? Or is that why quality really matters because your not getting the full benefits...
I used your code last month and ordered from matcha sense! I wanted to say thank you for your recommendation. I love it.
Oh thank you SO MUCH!! That means so much to me. Thank you for taking the time to comment back. So happy that you're enjoying my recommendation! I will be sure to keep you update on any future matcha products I love as I continue to test!
@@MeredithMao Have you tried Tenzo? I did and really liked it.
I've been really enjoying the "Sencha Naturals" ceremonial option "Emperor's Matcha," in the 75 gram bulk bag, (which keeps costs down.) It has such a deep, earthy, subtle "dark chocolate" like depth.
Thank you for this video! it's incredibly helpful. I can't wait to try #2!
Such a comprehensive and thorough guide!! Super helpful thank youu. Where would you place matcha sense in this review ?
I just tried kyoto dew, i feel like the flavor is very light. I used 2 scoops and not too much water. I was expecting a very grassy taste as I have never tried match before but it was incredibly light and mellow.
Is matcha supposed to not really smell or taste very grassy?
If she doesn't like filtering/sifting then Ito En will suit her nicely especially the one with Sencha mixed-in because those are very soluble
I don't buy my matcha from Amazon because there are local retailers here in the Philippines, but this was really interesting to watch! I learned a lot. And I was sitting here looking at pics of my Marukyu Koyamaen matcha being prepared smiling at the foam haha
hi I'm from the PH too! where do you buy yours?
it’s so sad how expensive matcha is in america bc i only got into it after my Japan trip.
Ippodo and Marukyu Koyamaen both make great matcha and it's grown by them in Uji and not a sourced product like the others on your list
I've been working through my first matcha purchase; Zen no Ocha brand. It is listed as a culinary variety, but I enjoy it so far. I like it best as a "frappe".
I love the Jade leaf but definitely would be open to trying others ☺️
Kettl
Tenzo is good!
Thank you! Just learning about macha, great info., will check out your recommendations.
Thanks. 🙏🕉️💞
Which matcha powder is best for making a matcha latte?
Thanks so much for this. I feel like it was a very honest review. I’m just getting into matcha and looking for guidance. Thanks again!
My favorite is by Dragon Superfoods, ceremonial grade matcha 🍵 no bitterness, dark green, rich taste, and only $20 for 100 grams
Thank you 💚💚💚💚💙 what do you think of the matcha at Starbucks ??
Can't I simply ingest matcha powder? I'm after the effects more than the deliciousness. Thanks
I'm seriously glad to know that I'm not the only one who thinks Ippudo matcha is the best!! This video has been extremely insightful, Thank you again!!
lol. I was hoping to discover a new matcha only to find the one I use is number 1. It truly is great!
Is it better to keep the matcha in the refrigerator to keep it fresh if dont make it everyday?
Thank you so much for this video
It so helpful for people like me that’s starting to get into matcha 💚💚💚💚
Try *Chigi no siro* from *Marukyu Koyamaen.* It is not on Amazon though. Get a fresh batch. Marukyu Koyamaen and Ippudo are two of the best makers.
I am trying to buy the matcha you recommended for first place. But there are too many types to choose from which one did you buy
3:41
There was a plastic cap on the inside you probably threw out. But I like to keep it for a nicer seal
Thank you, thinking of switching over from coffee.
There are so many types and names of the one you chose as best- If I buy it on Amazon- which one?
Please try the vanilla matcha and the ashwagandha matcha, both from vahdam.
Aloha. Great confident speaker.
Can you do an updated version please, since 2021 its more popular, im loving "matcha love" - culinary matcha, with bullet proof creamer 😋
Are there any recommendations of matcha that does not have caffeine? I get massive headaches from the caffeine 😢.. please help.
did you mention the brand called ‘Spring Blossom Tea Matcha’? i can’t find the time stamp.
Mam huge fan of yours , by watching u a dodged a lot of things and got saved now..... please tell which matcha is good in Amazon India
I agreed on the Ippodo matcha! So smooth and so rich! Worth every penny
I am looking for the best. Cost is no option. do you have a suggestion ?
Is matcha senses better than ippudo Macha?
Hi! Just found your video when searching for info on Matcha. I'm a novice, so thank you very much for all the info! BTW, I subscribed!
Thank you.
I didn't see an Amazon link for the #1 choice
I’m so glad you helped me find matcha sense. I’m curious as to where it would fall on this list. Thanks!
I appreciate you spending your hard earned money to review all these different Matcha because I definitely don't have the time and money.
Thank you for spreading love and matcha
kinda bummed out most don’t deliver to Canada. Love you review tho!
I know it's been a while but if you could compare your #2 Amazon matcha with the Chamberlain original matcha, which would you prefer? They have the same price points and grams I think.
so what would be better between encha and the ujido?? ujido is lighter but it is not strong at all I don't taste anything !
Does it make u loose weight cause I don't want to loose weight but I want to try this and replace it for coffee
Great video. Can you do a comparison video on matcha latte powders?
I've been drinking Pure Matcha since probably 2014. By far my favorite matcha on Amazon for the money.
do you think the Jade Leaf matcha is a good matcha powder for someone who has never tried matcha?
Yes!
The bigger version of 100g also comes with a zip loc bag and avoids this problem altogether
Anyway I've been drinking Naoki for years and find Naoki to be the best priced for its taste value so maybe Im a little biased 😜
Hey there. I don't think you are biased at all. I do enjoy very much the Naoki matcha and have prepared it even with cold water and its very smooth and almost creamy, so I don't see how it is too fine or light. Will have to try the Ippudo just to check it out.
Gracias a este video compro mi matcha el ippodo me ha encantado, no he probado otros pero este es rico y me da mucha energía ❤
Thanks I used you code.! Is my first time, now I will check how use properly
Can you please review costcos everyday matcha powder.....it is ceremonial and everyday...1st and second pressing.
Which Matcha is better Matcha sense or ippudo Macha?
Great informative video for this matcha novice. Where do your review MatchaSense? Also, thoughts on electric whisk vs. bamboo? Thanks.
Always bamboo. ALWAYS.
@@MeredithMao Thank you. 😊
I love your lip color! Totally non-matcha hahaha. Do share what you're wearing? Hugs!
This video is a review of Amazon matcha powders but I'd like to know which matcha powder (not necessarily on Amazon) that YOU personally use.
I personally use Encha Matcha.
Hello how about Kenko Matcha is great too!
Why is matcha not PDO like champagne or feta. Only matchas coming from japan with quality control can be called matcha. Im looking for a nice japanese matcha and so many english label matcha is disappointing me
What would be best in an oatmilk latte?
Omg thank you soo much I starting to get into matcha and this help me soo much
