This is exactly the video I was looking for! I own a coffee shop in Canada and looking into serving exceptional matcha. Your videos have been very helpful 🙏🏼
Wow I love the amount of research you put into this video! I love matcha too and also made a video about it (lol!) it's nice to find someone else who geeked out on matcha! :) can't wait to see more
Ah thank you so much for this video , this is exactly the information I have been trying to find , you cleared up so much things I was wondering about matcha 💚
No problem! There’s unfortunately so little actual information online about matcha and something that seems like it’s only tribal knowledge kept in Japan 😂 so I’m glad I was able to shed some light on the topic!
Great job putting all this information together. It was accurate to what I know about matcha, and I learned some new things too! Also, they need to make an anime about "the next tea master"! 😁 The training he goes through, the different matchas he gets to try, the challenges he faces as he gets ready to take over the family business... I honestly think it would make a great story if it hasn't been done yet. 🍵
BARELY ANY LIKES? BUT YOU EXPLAINED IT PERFECTLY IN LIKE A “101” format, I loved this I was looking for how to make matcha lattes, matcha cold foam drinks iced matcha for a healthier replacement for coffee (not completely I just got into coffee as I have adhd but IT TASTE GOOD especially ca phê sửa đã don’t know if my tones are right) that way I can have a sustainable energy daily as well as a slower morning and you did amazing I made accounts for both ippodo and mayuku thanks honey❤
Just bought my first macha product from a Japanese macha ice cream shop. I believe it’s Kinrin from Marukyu products. Pretty excited about starting my macha journey and this video definitely helped me understand everything the lady at the shop was trying to explain to me 😂. Thanks for all your thorough research.
Kinrin is solid!! I feel like it’s pretty balanced in a matcha latte (a bit of grassiness, and a touch of umami) Glad my learnings were helpful to you!
Wow, thank you for your research and recommendations. I never understood why people would claim that "ceremonial grade" is not consistent from brand to brand. I was wondering if you'd ever tried Hizoudenrai matcha?
@@dougdoesdelicious Yes, I found another youtuber rate it as their #1 among 20 other Japanese matcha brands however that's the only review I've been able to find of it.
Thank you for this. I am highly addicted to matcha and started with the Costco brand. But I definitely want to try the ones you mentioned when I get a chance.
Thank you so much for the info! I'm a newer "western" matcha drinker. I wanted to take some time off from coffee and see the difference matcha might make. I would like to try ippodo and have heard good things about it but for now I'm drinking Jade Leaf (culinary grade 😬). I don't prepare it at all as suggested in your "part 2" video, I drink it hot with one tsp matcha and 12oz water and I use a frother wand to mix it 😵💫 I also add a splash of half and half. I drink that usually twice a day and enjoy it. Personally I don't find it too bitter but I don't have a trained palate and have spent years drinking coffee which can be pretty bitter. I'm mostly looking for the health benefits though (regulating estrogen). I enjoy the taste and I actually don't like sweetener (didn't put it in my coffee either). I would LOVE to see a video with someone "blind taste testing" different matchas all prepared the same way. Someone with your expertise, not necessarily the type of palate trained throughout your lifetime but definitely more experienced than mine.
Thanks for this great video! It really helped me, I'm trying to get into making my own matcha lattes (starbucks is pretty expensive lol) and this video was super informative :D
This was perfect! Going to Uji in March and I drink matcha everyday. Cold or hot? I drink cold brew packets that I order from japan because I've heard hot kills health benefits. Is this true?
Hmm good question I’m not completely sure if drinking it hot kills the health benefits, but the ideal water temp is around 175F which isn’t hot enough to boil or scorch the matcha, maybe if it were boiling water? No idea, but cold brew matcha is also excellent!!
Hi Doug, Thanks alott for this amazing content. I would like to ask,. I'm looking forward to opening my own online store selling matcha but I'm quiet unsure on where to source it from and how I can get the best ceremonial grade for my business as I need it individually customized and packaged. would like to hear from you.
I tried Starbucks matcha and I like it, but I would like to try a Japanese matcha that doesn’t have sugar or at least a minimum of sugar. Which one you recommend to me ?
Man I bought some "ceremonial" grade matcha off amazon and while the color is good it doesnt want to mix and provided almost none of the inflammation relief that the stuff from my local asian food store from japan does. So mad rn but glad i didnt buy too much, time to get some ippodo this time and support my imported store until it arrives.
Hug The Tea sells organic bio ceremonial matcha on their website and in their café in The Hague. Most Ekoplaza stores also sell their matcha, but it’s a bit pricier
"Can you help me PLEASE? I want to start my matcha tea business in Egypt and I would like to know which is the best company to buy a preliminary quantity of 5 kilograms from, that offers the best quality for the lowest price, and is reliable."
I need to go back to Japan just to drink matcha lattes ☺️ the American ones are all either watered down or powdery 🥲
it's been pretty hard for me to find a legit one here
I’d say overly sweetened to the point that they are just sugar bombs in US

Ohh what shop? I love that you actually care about quality and aren’t cutting corners.

awesome video, thanks !
its been a year but i still don't see part 2 on your channel. has it been cancelled ?
Oh maybe the title wasn’t clear, but it’s been on my channel! It’s called “how to make the best matcha latte like a Japanese cafe”
Such a great video!
Thank you!!

No wonder matcha in Uji tasted strangely savory to me. I appreciate your explanation of umami as seaweed.
WER IS PART 2 😅
Where did you go in Japan for your matcha tour? I'm heading there next year and I'd love to stop by
I went to Uji! Near Kyoto, and did the factory tour at Marukyu Koyamaen, which was incredible

But what is the best ceremonial matcha you can get with the highest anti oxidants? And also shipped to Holland?

@@SharriePatroesjkaIppodo has great matcha as well! And if you buy in bulk, it’s cheaper than buying matcha in the Netherlands.
Beef? Really? You're going to compare beef to matcha? YUK! But this being said, your video is awesome.
Great work.
Haha was trying to find a decent analogy, thank you!! ❤️

Isn’t organic matcha best?

On my page!!

Thanks for explaining the usucha thing. I vastly prefer this way over laates. I wanna taste the tea dammit.
darling, stop using ai
My chick tries to give me a Matcha Latte, it tastes how lawn clippings smell, you people are nuts.
Fair criticism, definitely an acquired taste
